Getting Free: Moving Beyond Negativity and Limiting Beliefs Kindle Edition
From Getting Free: "Getting free of our conditioning is a two-fold task: We can free ourselves from our negative conditioning by reprogramming our mind with positive conditioning. We can also get free by seeing that all of our thoughts are just conditioning, and this conditioning doesn't have to be what determines our actions and reactions."
From Getting Free: "The antidote to conditioning is acceptance, but the mind isn't what can give this acceptance. Acceptance happens when you drop into essence and notice your negative thoughts. From this place, negative thoughts are not a problem because you see that they have nothing to do with you--the real you."

About the author

Gina Lake has been a channel since 1986 and a nondual spiritual teacher since 1999, after having a spiritual awakening. She is also the author of over twenty-five books. She has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and over thirty years’ experience supporting people in their spiritual growth.
After a further spiritual deepening in 2012, Mother Mary, Jesus, and a circle of Ascended Masters made contact with her, and Jesus began dictating books through her. These teachings from Jesus are nondual (Oneness) teachings, based on universal truth, not on any religion. They are messages of love and peace and how to be an expression of that in your life.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2013This is one of many books I have purchased by this author (Gina Lake). Love her writing style. Gina makes the content easy to understand and enjoyable to read and absorb. Wonderful reading for me in a very traumatic and stressful change period of my life. Found comfort and guidance with the book which helped me through an extremely difficult period of my life. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2017Gina Lake discusses Essence as opposed to ego. Essence, she says, perceives life as a whole and as essentially good. She describes a visual aspect of being aligned with Essence—to look at things without evaluating them—and how objects may begin to take on a glow and subtle fluidity. In this kind of looking your eyes become soft. This change of relationship results in your taking action when action is called for without trying to force or manipulate life to conform to ideas as the ego does. Essence is free of ideas about the way things should be. In her words, “Essence may have intentions for the next moment, but it doesn’t try to change the current one. Essence does influence and shape life, but during it, not after the fact. It flows with life and shapes life while life is moving where it is moving. This is very different from the ego, which opposes whatever is showing up and trying to change what already is.” Like aikido, I think.
Although I do practice Qi Gong and Tai Chi, I have never done Aikido. But I am inspired by what I understand of the approach of Aikido. Aikido is different from other martial arts. Its philosophy is to extend love and compassion even to those who seek to harm others, so an attack is harmlessly redirected and not only is the receiver unharmed, but so is the attacker. I see Gina’s way of relating to life like Aikido. Not fighting with it in opposition, but flowing and making subtle shifts. I see that instead of opposing others, I can note what I hear from them, empathize with their way of seeing things, (flowing along) and then (after a pause to really sense who they are) say how it comes to me. Very different from an argumentative ‘stance.’
Gina goes on to describe how the eyes reflect ego with a hard dullness and how the energy of Essence is transmitted through the eyes with a gentle, yet fiery quality. This brings up for me the memory of a session with my Buddhist guide. In the midst of a month-long retreat I went to our weekly session for once without complaints and was just there with him, eye to eye. It was wondrous. I realized that he had always been there with the energy of Essence. On this occasion I had enough openness to respond. Just being there looking at one another was a profound experience for me.
Gina has encouraged me to simply look at objects in the world as I move about each day. To relax the mind and just see them. Even now, this moment, I look out the window and see the tree, just in itself, just being there. The hammock blowing in the wind. And I don’t need to resist life to respond appropriately. I can trust myself to act in the moment. You can change the direction of flow without fighting it. I resonate with this.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2013This book is filled with words of wisdom. I particularly loved the part about beings of light and guides. Their help is always available to us. The author stresses the importance of putting aside our thoughts and opinions and of loving the present moment. It is where Essence resides. It is where happiness is. This is so true!
The part on regression therapy was of less interest to me, so I went through it very quickly. However, it contains valuable information for those who practice this type of therapy.
Had it been possible, I would have given this book 4.75 stars. I highly recommend it to spiritual seekers.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2017I love the simplicity of this teaching & have read &/are reading & taking in as much as I am able to. Simple and not easy at times.......Great airplane reading as one sentence or paragraph is enough for the moment & most of her books are relatively short - though tremendous in content.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2013This is a book written in a beautiful and clear way, offering multiple insights of how we are conditioned toward a lifetime (indeed- lifetimes) of habits and how we, with mindfulness, may break free of these egoic patterns. GETTING FREE is an invitation to all who read it to awaken through awareness, to let go of thought, to seek guidance in all of our experiences, and to discover our true happiness that has been there all along. Throughout the book, Gina Lake provides clear pathways for doing just that. I was so hungry for the message that I read GETTING FREE in record time, only to turn around and begin again in order to absorb it more slowly. I love this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2013Some points made by the writer are interesting but its not a book that you pick up and just can't put back down.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2013I love the cadence of this book. It's relaxing in itself. I found the same in another book by the same author. Very organic approach in that she has some very basic core truths about what it takes to free the mind of unnecessary anxiety and unhappiness, which are repeatedly emphasized but in a varied narrative flow.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2019I would recommend this book to those who fear the apparent
Temperament of the world today. I love the teachings of Jesus and Amanda through Gina Lake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gina's Bücher sind die besten ihrer Art!
