Ghost of Truth (Medium Trouble Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,865 ratings

Hiro
When I first realized that I could see the dead, I never imagined that it would allow me to help save the lives of others and pull me into Detective Maddox Booker’s path. Through my ability, ghosts have become some of my greatest friends and allies.

But now, someone’s dead and his ghost is gone. Ghosts have sought my help for my entire life, wanting to be heard, but something is keeping them quiet, almost hostile as our search for the ghost of the dead man leads us to a small village. Even though everything looks normal on the outside, I’m starting to wonder what’s happening on the inside.

Maddox
Life is better than it’s ever been. Hiro’s by my side and has brought my best friend Reggie back into my life—if we can consider Reggie’s harassment (even as a ghost) a positive. And even Hiro’s horde of ghosts won’t keep me from asking him to move in with me. The only issue is that work is never quiet, especially when Hiro is able to dive into a whole new side of a case by speaking to the victims of the dead.

But when someone takes Hiro from me in the middle of the night, I know that I will do absolutely anything to get him back, and I will make them pay for what they’ve done.

Ghost of Truth
is full of action, mystery, humor, and romance. Though more is planned for this couple, the mystery is solved and there is a happy ending.

Yall need to read this! It's different from the first book but has similar tone and love and all the good stuff that makes Alice Winters, Alice Winters.
A new adventure with a twist for sure! And unlike the first book, you think you might know who did it but you'll be wrong so I suggest giving it a try!

I genuinely really like these characters. And at this stage, I don't know that this book could be considered romance as opposed to contemporary paranormal mystery. But it's lovely to see the couple enjoy each other so authentically and with so much humor and chemistry. Not spicy though, one step above fade to black.

Narrator is great. Somewhere between old timey radio novella actor/ sports announcer and just a regular dude. A lot of masc voice actors do fem voices super abrasively, he's not so bad.

The mysteries are a little sloppy, I think. Lots of odd questions that get answered in not the most satisfying of ways. Kinda like calling a huge host of bizarre symptoms fibromyalgia, a catch-all that solves the thing, but feels like a bit of a blanket diagnosis. Like yeah, you have an answer, but you were looking for a solution, hey? Jeeze that sounds insane, oh well makes sense to me.

3.5/5 very enjoyable, might reread one day but will for sure continue to read as more books come out :)

Boy, I wish I’d discovered Alice Winters sooner. “Ghost of Truth,” the second in the Medium Trouble series, is every bit as good as the first volume. The relationship between Hiro and Maddox progresses, but so does their relationship with Reggie, Natalie, and a new ghost. It’s an odd take on chosen family, but I love it. Also, you can’t really have new adventures that are only riffs on the first one, so there’s a development in Hiro’s abilities and of our understanding of this spirit realm, so that’s another good aspect of the novel. I don’t think I’d like some of the banter if it was directed to me in real life, but in the novel, I find it hilarious. Oh, and it has just the right amount of sex—a little—without overdoing it. Love this series.

Reggie is a hero, but don’t tell him that. He thinks highly enough about himself as it is. And now I wonder how much stronger Hiro has gotten and what is behind Natalie’s eyes. And Maddox is just plain sex on a stick. Cos Hiro says so.

I reread Ghost of Lies, the first book in the series, to refresh my memory of the characters. I'm glad I did since it allowed me to dive right into the new one and not have to stop and figure out who was who.
It was great to see characters from the first book, alive and dead. The mystery and investigation are well thought out and flow nicely. It kept me guessing, then backtracking and unable to pin the crimes on one particular person. That's good stuff.
I like the progression of Hiro and Maddox's relationship. They are passionate and caring for each other's physical and emotional needs. The banter between them and between them and the other characters is hilarious.
I laughed a lot as I read, but it's not all humor. There is a serious story going on that is easier to handle because the humor lightens it some. Without the laughs, I believe this story would have the same effect that Within the Mind had on me. That would have been some seriously messed up, mind-blowing stuff.
The story had parts that had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and tensing up as I waited for the action to begin (and end). It got pretty creepy at times, and I loved it.
In addition to Hiro and Maddox, there are a couple of characters that I just wanted to snatch up and hug till it was all over. They became real to me, and I thought my heart would break several times. I loved that too, tears and all.
I was glad when the trouble was over, but I hated for the book to end. These are well-crafted, exciting characters, and I hope to see more from them. Alive and dead.
I look forward to more from this author.

Unsure if his ability is changing or if it’s the situation with Kylie, but the ghost seem more tangible around Hiro. Thrown into a strange case where no one is who we think they are, ghost possessing becomes a thing. Kylie has the ability to feel ghosts and make them possess others and do her dirty work for revenge. Some ghosts want to help and some want her to stop. This puts everyone into danger. Natalie, Reggie and even Keaton gang up to help Hiro and Maddox. Enjoyed this one.

This is the second in the series of Maddox and HIRO, and now the story is getting a little bit more interesting because Maddox seems to believe a little bit more of what HIRO can do and he has to protect him as someone is after him. So HRO move in with Maddox, who has a roommate that is dead and he is hilarious along with Hiro friend Natalie. The storyline is so good but at the same time it is gruesome and details of the murders. But it flows very well and the characters I’ll work together really well and and all times there are so much banner sarcasm talk of porn sometimes that it just keeps you laughing, I loved the second book and I already read the third .

I reread Ghost of Lies immediately before starting Ghost of Truth. There are a few other series with MCs who see ghosts and I needed to refresh my memory. So, with book 1 fresh in mind I have to say that I enjoyed that one a bit better than book 2.

The characters and their relationship are more established in this sequel, but the actual mystery was a bit convoluted and difficult to follow. Especially with so many names to keep straight.

The mysteries are actually pretty dark in these books, however, I love the humor and the way that Alice Winters writes dialogue. I love the banter between all the characters and how descriptive this author is with settings and appearance. I can picture everything so clearly.

If you enjoy anything else by Alice Winters, you’ll enjoy this series too.

I absolutely loved the second instalment in this series.
Hiro and Maddox are once again out to solve a strange crime involving weird ghosts.
With Hiros imaginary friends in tow the two embark on an adventure of danger, kidnapping, suspense, supernatural oddities and crimes that need to be unravelled.
Read book 1, then sink your teeth into book 2! You will not be disappointed.

It was amazing Hiro&Maddox as a established couple, Maddox helping Hiro to deal with his ghosts popping anytime. Understanding and having Hiro's back whenever he was overwhelmed or just needed a friendly smile and someone to joke with about the insanity the ghosts would bring to their moments. Highlights: The new addition to the Hiro's ghost entourage and Reggie's reactions; The delve into Reggie's life & death and learning more about the other nice and very sane ghosts Lol; No goodbyes.

Hiro and Maddox find themselves caught up in murder, mystery and suspense yet again.
With the help of ghostly companions Natalie and Reggie our heros try to get to the bottom of why ghosts are acting strangely.
New characters and old join in the fun. And Reggie just wants to be the meat in the sandwich.
Another thrilling, funny, sassy read from the Amazing Alice Winters.

This is an awesome series. To get the best benefit is to read them all in order to enjoy all three books. The only downside to the books is the character Reggie, he is the worst part of the boom and should never have been in it it. The books would be stellar if Reggie was not in then. The plot and other characters are fantastic. So worth reading.
