Gift Wrapped Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 87 ratings

When an after-hours good deed turns into a hot, Christmas Eve date, will one night on the naughty list be enough for Davis and Brinn?

After catching her boyfriend cheating two weeks before Christmas, Brinn is seriously lacking in holiday spirit. So when she looks into the eyes of a last-minute shopper after closing on Christmas Eve, she’s sarcastic rather than sympathetic. But Brinn is ever the good girl and her conscience wins out. She offers the handsome stranger ten minutes to select a gift and ends up with a present of her own—a date. On Christmas Eve.

Davis hates Christmas. Especially this year, since a neighborhood heist liberated him of his hard-earned belongings and the few gifts he’d purchased. But the robbery led him to a cute store manager with a sense of humor, smokin’ body and no plans for the evening. Mistletoe might be in order after all.

Their Christmas Eve date is like gift-wrapped, sexy satisfaction. But the best gifts keep on giving, and one naughty night may not be enough—for either of them.

    4.5-5 stars

This was a great Christmas story. I really liked both Brinn and Davis and I really enjoyed their story overall and loved the ending.

Brinn is a store manager and a nice lady. She lives a couple hours away from her family whom she loves a lot. She moved to the area she's living in now for a guy. A guy who she broke up with after she found him cheating on her a couple of weeks before.

Davis is a chef and a good guy. He grew up in a family of lawyers. His family expected him to follow in their footsteps and become a lawyer as well but he couldn't take being a lawyer. Things didn't go well when he left the family business and became a chef. Davis decided that any type of relationships were just a recipe for disaster so he's stayed away from anything serious.

Brinn is closing up the store she manages on Christmas eve when Davis shows up looking for a last minute Christmas gift. Brinn has had a long holiday season and just wants to go home. She gives Davis a bit of a hard time but ultimately is too nice for her own good and ends up agreeing to let him buy something. As they chat the chemistry between them blooms. They both know that they want more time together and when they realize they're both spending the night alone, Davis invites Brinn over to his place for diner and a movie. Brinn is not a "one night stand" type (which she makes clear to Davis) but Davis is charming and hard to resist so she ends up deciding to take him up on the invite.

Their night together is great and it becomes apparent to both of them that they want more time together than just one night. On Christmas morning, something happens that has Davis spending the holiday with Brinn and her family. Since he usually hates the holidays and anything family related, Davis is really surprised to find that this is one of the best Christmases he's ever had. Brinn and Davis agree to spend more time together but Brinn already asked her manager for a transfer to a different store in the area so they know there's an end date to their relationship. Regardless of this, they both develop some pretty heavy feelings for each other while she's still in town. There are some issues that makes it difficult for them to continue their relationship, even when they both want to. I will note that there's a bit of angst in the story but it's not too bad. In the end, there's a happy reunion and Brinn and Davis get a very HEA.

I enjoyed this story greatly. Brinn was a really good heroine. I kind of wanted to kick her for her choice (about staying or going) but yet I could totally understand where she was coming from. Davis...well I really liked him too but he did let his reluctance when it comes to relationships almost ruin their relationship. Still, his method of fixing things was great and I loved the changes he made and the reunion he set up for them. Overall, I had no major complaints and I thought this was a great Christmas romance. I'd recommend it. :D

This novel has the hottest first date I think I have ever read.....on Christmas Eve!

It's Christmas Eve, and Brinn McIntyre manager, is closing her shop. "She loved holiday songs her entire life, eight to ten hours every day for two months tended to squeeze the last drop of festive spirit from your soul." The day was crazy busy, and she was looking forward to her flannel pajama's, cup of soup, and a movie. She would be spending the day with her parents, who lived two hours away, tomorrow. There's a knock at the locked door, and Brinn can see a man anxiously peeking in. She announced they were closed and waved him away. Didn't move. Despite her better judgement she goes to the door and he explains his predicament. Softie that she is she gives him 10 minutes. This guy is very hot and Brinn finds herself flirting with him. His purchase made he lingers and asks if she's free. He would make her dinner, watch a movie and spend Christmas Eve together. No strings, just hopefully an enjoyable evening. Brinn throws caution to the wind and agrees.

Davis Rourke is an accomplished chef and not a great fan of Christmas. Especially coming home after his restaurant closes to find his home ransacked and what few presents he had, stolen. Meeting Brinn had definitely cheered his Christmas Eve. He has family he hasn't spoken to in years, does not believe in love or commitment, and thinks a night or two with this beautiful woman would be perfect. Brinn turns out to be very different than his usual "casual" dates.

This novel has a very sweet love story with some sizzling sex. As they get to know each other, they each find reasons to not walk away, it could still be casual, no commitments. Not going to happen. I enjoyed this holiday story, and it definitely warmed up a chilly afternoon. It has lovely surprises, and gifts too. A very fun read.

OMG! I need a shower. A very cold shower. Shoot me! I'm jealous of a fictitious character. You would be too if you read "Gift Wrapped." The sex is off-the-chart, panty-melting, sizzling hot! Sure there were times I giggled. I even bit my lower-lip a couple of times. Regardless, that didn't stop me from crossing my legs tightly all the while fanning myself. I loved both Davis and Brinn, two people who most-definitely complimented one-another. I especially loved the banter that flowed between them. Davis certainly delivers when it comes to satisfying a woman in and out of the kitchen in more ways than one. I thought my Kindle was going to blow a circuit. Without question, the author gives her readers two fun-loving, sexually-charged characters full of heat and passion; and with plenty of sexual escapades full of eroticism without having to pass the line at being crude. Without a doubt, "Gift Wrapped" is a holiday must-read - any holiday. It's a fun flirty story full of fluffy snow. By the way, I loved the Epilogue. Nicely done.

To those who decide to read this novel, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

This book wasn't bad. I just didn't like it. Why? One, to me it was all about the sex. The two characters agreed to a month of no-strings-attached-sex so there's a lot of sex but that's not my problem. We are TOLD that they fall in love and that it was deeper than sex but it wasn't SHOWN. I hate when authors do that. Two, I never felt the chemistry between the two MCs. I wanted to but just didn't. The only thing I liked was the banter between the two. I couldn't even finish the epilogue but I at least wanted it finish the main story because I spent money on it.

Let’s not mincemeat words here: this book was sexy fun topped with the bow of love.

Aw shucks, yeah, I said it. Trust me, the book isn’t as sappy as my first line. :)

Ms. Doyle offered up the perfect one-night stand, then kept on going. I want that one-night stand. Delicious and scorching lover, a good meal on top of it all. No holds barred. Sigh, to be single again, for one night.

    BUT.

It’s more than a one-nighter, as you may have guessed. It’s a love story with all the trimmings. Barriers to communication, misunderstandings, family issues, irritating exes. Lots of good, mutually fulfilling naughtiness.

Brinn, hard-working and sexually deprived (having an ex who would rather watch sports than make whoopie) meets, after closing time at her store on Christmas eve, Davis who is a heart-of-gold three-dates-only-and-I’m-done commit-o-phobe. Sparks fly.

Who wouldn’t want Mr. Tall Shaved and Handsome offering to cook (and wash up) Christmas Eve dinner? Plus a movie of one’s choice? No commitment. A freebie of tantalizing proportions. Sign me up, please! And frankly, Doyle does it so well I can picture the very mall in which they meet.

I have a daydream: me, eight sizes ago and twenty years younger saying “yo” to what I envisage as a Jason Statham doppelganger.

But things work out better than planned. Always a bad thing in romance. And it’s due to deft handling that GIFT WRAPPED works so well. The one-nighter accidentally goes to two. Then three, then thirty.

But as with all good stories, there is an impediment. And hat’s off to Doyle for NOT having her heroine throw it all away for a Hollywood moment. Despite the growing passion in their hearts, the couple separates leaving us to wonder who meets whom halfway? Doyle could easily have ended the book on a pat (but touching) moment earlier on, but she rightfully pushes through and the intrepid Brinn holds herself higher than Davis’ well-intentioned offer.

You know that offer: the pastry in front of you when you have five pounds left to lose. So delicious, but you’ve worked so hard and it will set you back on so many levels.

GIFT WRAPPED is filled with delicious steamy scenes. Davis carries that perfect blend of sexy and sensitive. Although he’s hardened his heart, he has eruptions of goodwill and thoughtfulness tell you that sometimes people can (and do) change. He has his demons. Brinn is tackling hers. It’s up to him, now.

Brinn doesn’t shrink from saying what she wants and has a mind like the rest of us, giggling when someone says “back door.” (ok, I giggle.) Competent, caring, Brinn is a worthy heroine who learns that you can change the channel. Both characters “grow” but we are spared any preachy punishment (you know how those romance movies, they are so fun, then we “pay” for it by too much introspection and suffering and bad montages before we get the run-across-the-airport-scene?).

By the way, there is no run-across-the-airport-scene. Something much better, to tear us up. You bet I teared up.

And may I add how much I admire Karla Doyle for self-pubbing? It’s not small thing to self-publish. Usually the editing or book length suffers. Not so with GIFT WRAPPED. Great story, excellent writing, lovely cover and the guts to do it all. Yay you, Karla Doyle!

NOTE: I was not given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I bought it because I loved so many of Doyle’s other books! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Gift Wrapped is a naughty & nice Christmas romance for Brinn and Davis

Brinn and Davis meet on Christmas Eve night lust at first sight for both of them, Brinn goes over to Davis's house and they have a night to remember panty melting HOT. A family emergency happens and they end up spending Christmas Day with Brinn's family as Davis's s is not a fan of the holiday.

So one night turns into a month as Brinn is transferring to another store after a promotion and two hours away from Davis but Davis wants her to stay but for once Brinn is putting herself and her career before love.

What is going to happen? Can they work things out?

A nice Christmas romance with plenty of smut and laughs.
