About the author

Marion Adams has been writing for as long as she can remember, usually for fun and sometimes for money as well. She started her career as an in-house copywriter with a publisher and now works as a freelance proofreader and editor. It’s her dream job because she’s paid to read all day (and eat dark chocolate). Over the years, she’s written all kinds of things for both adults and children, some serious and some less so, with published work including magazine stories, articles, poems, plays and non-fiction books.
Marion lives in Devon, UK, and when she’s not reading or writing (or eating dark chocolate), she loves going for walks on the wild moors where her picture book Go To Sleep! is set.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2017Go To Sleep!, written by Marion Adams and illustrated by Sarah-Leigh Wills, is the story of Tansy the sheep who can’t sleep. And also is bit math-challenged. What unfolds is woolly mayhem as a sheep who can’t sleep — and can’t count — insists that one of the flock has gone missing. Just darn funny with sweet, fluffy illustrations by Ms. Wills. The best part of the story is Tansy speculating what may have happened to the missing sheep. Kids will enjoy the opportunity at the end of the story to properly count the sheep.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2017I absolutely love the adorable illustrations in this book! Sweet little Tansy can't fall asleep. She can't remember how. She's given advice to count sheep. What a great concept for a book! I know children will love this book as much as I did! Good night, Tansy. :)

- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2018One night Tansy the Sheep couldn’t get to sleep, no matter how hard she tried. Her mum told her to shut her eyes and think about something she liked, but she liked lots of things and didn’t know which to choose.
A Barn Owl heard her asking the other sheep how to get to sleep. It swooped in low and told her to start counting sheep, that would get her to sleep. Unfortunately, Tansy counting sheep only made things worse and now all the sheep were awake too.
Go to Sleep! is an amusing children’s book. It is exquisitely illustrated with fabulous full-page drawings by Sarah-Leigh Wills that add lots of fun to the story.
The plot is engaging and I can see little children being fully invested in trying to find out if Tansy ever managed to get to sleep.
This is a lovely book that would be perfect for a bedtime read, or even a class read. This is going to be one of those books that children ask to have read to them over, and over, again.

Go To Sleep is animal themed funny and cute bedtime story about the little sheep Tansy who couldn’t go to sleep. In trying to sleep by following barn owl’s advice she found out something was wrong in the field. As the blurb said it had funny twist.
Tansy was nice little sheep who was cute, innocent, cared for others and tried to do something good. Barn own and Jack- the dog was also great in the story. Writing was captivating and easy for kids to understand. Storytelling was great that will catch kids’ attention. All illustrations were colorful and eyes catching specially all cute white fluffy sheep.
When I couldn’t sleep I didn’t count sheep but I remember my mom telling me to count stars when we slept outside under the sky in summer vacations now I read books if I can’t sleep. 😉 It was kind of funny when sheep was counting sheep in the story. Kids will find it amusing.
Overall, it was great bedtime story that parents would love to read with their kids.

It is easy to follow and has a fun ending too, I read it with my daughter and whilst she is too young at the moment to understand the story she loved the pictures!
Really looking forward to reading it with her when she is older.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2017Go To Sleep is a nicely written children's story about a little sheep who cannot get to sleep. As she gets advice from fellow sheep and a wise farm creature, she goes about trying to sleep until she accidentally causes a bit of chaos. I love the way the little sheep lets her imagination take over, as most young children do. This story has a cute twist to the end that will have your children wanting to read it again and again! The illustrations are simple; yet, beautifully designed.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2018A cute bedtime story about a little sheep who couldn’t get to sleep. Counting sheep takes on a new twist in this fun read.
Aimed at children 3 – 7 years old. This is a wonderful story to read to your little ones, and for the older range of the age group to read themselves.
The illustrations by Sarah-Leigh Wills are delightful.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lyrical bedtime story with a twist
I bought this charming book for my 'Grandchildren & visiting children' bookshelf, where I like to keep a mix of traditional and 'best of the new' books. I also purchased and sent one for my younger grandchildren, since I know the other family abroad have already got a copy - and recommended it. With appealing illustrations, delightful prose, and a quirky barn owl who speaks/hoots in rhyme, it will be attractive to children of a wide age range. I thoroughly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect bedtime story
This is a beautiful book. I love the illustrations they kept my little ones' attentions as I read. The story is fun and great to read out loud to children. It is also simple enough for new readers to read themselves. My six year old enjoyed reading along with me, and laughed at the ending. This is the perfect story to read at bedtime to encourage children to settle down to sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Story Telling at its Best!!
This is evocative of the stories I loved to read when I was a child. Atmospheric from the very first line! The reader is drawn straight into a quiet and magical world - a world in which a little sheep can't sleep. The happy ending will delight and reassure young children. A heart-warming story which is beautifully written and illustrated!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a delightful story !
Simply charming! A truly lovely tale about Tansy the sheep that little children can relate to when they can't sleep! It's a talking point at bedtime about counting sheep and how doing so can really get you to peacefully drop off! I used to tell my son to count sheep when he was a little boy, this book would have certainly been on his bookcase and he would have asked me to read it every night! It's now on my step grandchildren's bookshelf and I'll read it to them over and over again it's already a favourite!!

I purchased this book for my youngest grandchildren to either read themselves or have read to them. It is a delightful little book, very cleverly written with a great twist at the end. Beautifully written and illustrated, I highly recommend it.
