Good Bad Witch: A Cozy Witchy Fantasy (Good Bad Magic Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,502 ratings

Spells and magical mysteries have never been so fun!

I'm a witch. Not a powerful witch, mind, but as Grandma liked to say, it’s all in the kindness, not the power. Grandma is gone now, but her dream of having a witch shop lives with me. So, when the opportunity to run my own shop presents itself, I move across the country to take it, no questions asked.

But maybe I should have.

The sexy local bounty hunter shifter thinks I’m up to no good, my clients keep asking me to use forbidden dark magic, and someone’s trying to sabotage my shop. Probably the same someone who reported me to the Witch Council and left a dead body in my bathtub.

Hah! Joke’s on them. As Grandma also used to say, it’s nothing a positive attitude, excellent cleaning supplies, and the complete annihilation of whoever has in it for me can’t fix.

Paraphrasing.

Join Hope in her quest to save her shop in the Urban Fantasy world of Good Bad Magic, featuring witches, shifters, demons, one sexy bounty hunter, and all kinds of magical creatures. Full of humor, banter, plenty of heart, and a slow-burn romance.

Perfect for fans of K.M. Shea, Annabel Chase, and Annette Marie.

Good Bad Magic reading order (complete):
1. Good Bad Witch
2. Right Wrong Shifter
3. Fresh Old Bounties
4. Real Fake Hauntings
5. Bright Dark Curses
6. Upside Down Magic

Good heart. Bad at magic
Meet Hope, a good witch with little power and big problems. Having inherited a magical "tea shop," Hope has had a few eye openers. First, there is the randomly appearing and disappearing man. A new friend and a (sexy) retired bounty hunter. Between negative reviews and questions of her capabilities- will Hope be able to solve the mystery?

The action and plot twists kept me reading. Hope's innocence and goodness won me over. Her inner honesty, humor, and hard work to keep her spirits high and succeed kept me rooting for her. Believable romantic interest. Great ending.
I gave this light read 4 stars because I enjoy stories considerably more when multiple characters are well-developed.

Hope was granted a shop by the witch council and she is hoping to make it successor it isn't taken away. She makes potions for the townspeople, but she soon discovers that some want darker magic. A ghost of a dead man that died in her tub keeps showing up and she is trying to identify who it is and who killed him. Lots of twists and turns until the murderer is revealed and who is plotting against her. Good paranormal mystery with a little romance thrown in.

I really enjoyed this book. The main character is new to town and doesn’t have much experience with magic, so she comes across as naive but she isn’t stupid. I like how she stays positive while dealing with problems and makes friends despite almost everyone seeming unwilling to give her a chance.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and though it started off a little too slow for me, I stayed with it and was rewarded with an excellent read. The heroine is somewhat meek at the beginning—too eager to please—but eventually develops self-assurance. Looking forward to reading the 2nd book in this series.

The story was fun with enough mystery to make it interesting to turn the pages. It got only four stars because it left a cliffhanger.

5.0 out of 5 stars loved this paranormal urban fantasy…

Bit of everything - cozy mystery, black magic, ghosts, werewolves and witches and demons and mages. But mostly it’s great world building and a heroine who’s actually kind of ordinary and where the challenges come from managing her under powered magic and desire to do good - in her dream witch shop that’s actually got a much darker history! Loved the characters, good plot and though I suspected who the villain was fairly early it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story unfolding. The potential love interest is intriguing and I assume the relationship will develop with the series. So definitely slow burn and no steam but lots of characters that I look forward to knowing more about in the next books.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an incredible book!

Isa Medina is one of my new favourite authors ❤️

In this series, the main Character is Hope, a relatively mediocre witch who moves across the country when she’s given the opportunity to run a Witch’s shop after the last owners passing. Unbeknownst to Hope, this cosy little town has more in store for her than just keeping the shop afloat and making a good name for herself amongst the townsfolk.

From Mages seeking dark magic, mysterious bodies in bath tubs, to a certain sexy bounty hunter, Hope’s first foray into being a business owner is fraught with danger, mysteries and literally fighting for her life and her livelihood.

It all culminates in the type of cosy urban fantasy that hits all the right spots - a brilliant and interesting cast of characters, a plot that just keeps giving, and a world that is both comforting and a little terrifying in pieces.

Isa does a fantastic job with introducing us to the Good Bad Magic world, with a voice that is the perfect balance of witty, snarky, and genuinely optimistic. One of my favourite parts of the book, and Hope’s character, is her connection to her Grandma and her positive affirmations 💕 I might need to work some into my own vocab!

All in all, I’m hanging for November 30th when 🔮Right Wrong Shifter🔮 comes out!

The heroine is very sweet but more than a bit dim, but it's a nice light story of eternal optimism.
