When Good Ghosts Get the Blues: A Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery (The Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 1,239 ratings

Nothing spoils a vacation faster than a dead body.

All I wanted was ten ghost-free days to enjoy sightseeing New Orleans with my boyfriend. I dreamed of mornings spent wandering through art galleries and afternoons listening to live jazz music. Oh, and eating beignets until my pants stop buttoning.

I might as well have asked Santa for a unicorn.

Within thirty-six hours of setting foot in the Big Easy, an ancient ghost warns me of a murderous spirit lurking in the city, a strip-mall psychic tells me I look pregnant (I blame the beignets) and, oh, yeah, a dead body shows up on the set of my boyfriend’s TV show and he lands himself at the top of the suspect list.

If this karma, I must have been an ax murderer in a previous life.

Scarlet and the big easy adventure

Scarlet and the big easy adventure
I love the Ghost Mysteries Beechwood series. This latest edition, When Good Ghosts Get The Blues. Scarlet thinks that 10 days in New Orleans with Lucas is going to be relaxing and ghost-less. Ha! What was she thinking? Lucas is working security and when Scar goes to visit him at the house, she meets a ghost lady named Gayle who warns her about an evil ghost in the library. The next day, Lucas is the main suspect of one of his bosses who was murdered in the house! From that point on, the action begins. Holly is alarmed enough that she sends Flapjack, Hayward and Gwen arrive via the supernatural highway to help Scarlet. Now that the Scooby gang is reunited they set off to solve the murder of Bart. Scares and laughs and action follow. The ending is so cool! Danielle Garrett answers the question that readers have been wondering and guessing about, is Scar a witch? is she a ...? a what supernatural? Now we know and it's such an unexpected surprise and so awesome!! No spoiler alert here, read the book and find out what Scarlet really is.

What a stressful beginning, wasn't sure how that was going to work out, but had faith. With solutions comes more questions and anticipation for what's to cone, another fantastic story; and, absolutely stunning cover art, again. Great job.

It was pretty good. However, I found it unbelievable that the police would allow someone who helps cover up a crime by lying to them, erasing and removing evidence and more, to simply walk away. No trip to the precinct, no arrest, just a plea deal on the fly and they leave town? This is not the way to tie up loose ends and since it's one of the last things that happens, mystery-wise, it sort of ruined that part of the book for me. Not up to the author's usual standards. On the plus side: the author infuses humor into the series nicely, fantastic characters populate this series, both old and new, and the author hits all the right notes as the romance progresses. Scarlet and Lucas react realistically to one another and the situations they find themselves in, rather than over the top histronics other authors resort to. Finally, the author is growing both the characters and story lines so as to keep future books engaging, exciting and fun.

I loved the 1st book in this series and I was ready for book 2, after this one I am wondering if I can stop reading to get anything done! All I want to do is curl up and keep reading. I love Danielle Garret writing style, it’s easy going, but never boring. Her character’s were well done in the 1st book of this series, but the more I read, the more is revealed about them. It’s nice having them play out with out constant drama that makes you dizzy trying to keep up, like some authors do. I haven’t found any big issues with errors in the stories, which is alway a plus.
