About the author

International Bestselling Author Tim Tigner began his career in Soviet Counterintelligence with the US Army Special Forces, the Green Berets. That was back in the Cold War days when, "We learned Russian so you didn't have to," something he did at the Presidio of Monterey alongside Recon Marines and Navy SEALs.
With the fall of the Berlin Wall, Tim switched from espionage to arbitrage. Armed with a Wharton MBA rather than a Colt M16, he moved to Moscow in the midst of Perestroika. There, he led prominent multinational medical companies, worked with cosmonauts on the MIR Space Station (from Earth, alas), chaired the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, and helped write Russia's first law on healthcare.
Moving to Brussels during the formation of the EU, Tim ran Europe, Middle East, and Africa for a Johnson & Johnson company and traveled like a character in a Robert Ludlum novel. He eventually landed in Silicon Valley, where he launched new medical technologies as a startup CEO.
In his free time, Tim has climbed the peaks of Mount Olympus, hang glided from the cliffs of Rio de Janeiro, and ballooned over Belgium. He earned scuba certification in Turkey, learned to ski in Slovenia, and ran the Serengeti with a Maasai warrior. He acted on stage in Portugal, taught negotiations in Germany, and chaired a healthcare conference in Holland. Tim studied psychology in France, radiology in England, and philosophy in Greece. He has enjoyed ballet at the Bolshoi, the opera on Lake Como, and the symphony in Vienna. He's been a marathoner, paratrooper, triathlete, and yogi.
Intent on combining his creativity with his experience, Tim began writing thrillers in 1996 from an apartment overlooking Moscow's Gorky Park. Twenty years later, his passion for creative writing continues to grow every day. His home office now overlooks a vineyard in Northern California.
Tim grew up in the Midwest, and graduated from Hanover College in 1990 with a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics. After military service and work as a financial analyst and foreign-exchange trader, he earned an MBA in Finance and an MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton and Lauder schools on a full-ride scholarship.
Thank you for taking the time to read about the author. Tim is most grateful for his loyal fans, and loves to correspond with readers like you. You are welcome to reach him through his website timtigner.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2025“I think I have now read all of Tim Tigner’s books, even his kids books, several very personal sharings, his Achilles series, his “Leonardo and Gabriel”, and his speculative writings on future possibilities, of which
“The Greater Good” is just the latest. This is quite a range, and he does them all with great skill and effect, and enjoyment and learning for his readers
Anyone who reads this book will want to go back and read his earlier books, all of them. In short, Tim’s writings are more than just well told and written stories, more than just thrillers, with carefully formulated plots, plausible characters and accurate technical details. They are experiences for the reader.
In reading “The Greater Good”, I found myself reading slowly, appreciating the perspectives he includes, the life’s lessons, and personal learnings. Looking back over the pages I’ve read, I see that I have highlighted on my kindle so many passages, not about events in the story, but on his observations of humanity, how we live and think about our lives. I will be rereading these highlightings simply to remind myself of the wisdom they share.
In my experience, now at age 82, and having the luxury of reading many, many books, including on subjects like quantum physics and computing, complexity theory, AI, philosophy and psychology, nature and plants and animals, and even UAP, Tim Tigner opens my mind, my values and my emotions in a way that no other author has done.
Treat yourself to the gifts of this very special author.”
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2025Read as many of Tim Tigner's novels as you can...but if you want to dip your toe into his style, go for this one, The Greater Good. There are two compelling reasons I make this suggestion. One, the characters, plot lines and story arcs are deeply developed and thrilling - so, entertainment. And, two, the real life issues make one think. We live in disturbing even untethered times - the what ifs and philosophical underpinnings of the story may cause you to think...or act responsibly!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2025This book presents a philosophical conundrum: Is it OK to assassinate a terrible person if you know you can do so with an undetectable weapon, no one else will be hurt in the process, you have no chance of being caught and thousands, perhaps millions of lives will ultimately be saved or improved as a result? Research scientist Katheryn Newton and her lawyer husband Keith are faced with this dilemma when she accidentally invents such weapon in her laboratory. What they do about it makes the story quite interesting. As you can imagine Katheryn is angst ridden throughout the story as she rationalizes to herself the act of murder. Unfortunately the self assessment becomes tiresome. Too much of the book involves her internal debate. The twists, always found in this author's books, were easy to figure out in advance but nonetheless provide a satisfying conclusion. I would have given the book only three stars but for the fact the philosophical question and resolution of it are both worth five stars. Therefore I compromised at four stars. Tim Tigner is one of my favorite authors. I have always found his writing enjoyable. This book is not on a par with previous ones, but is still worth reading and I will read his next.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2025Once again Tim Tigner delivers a page turning, twisting murder thriller filled with moral debate. I loved it. Another thing about the author I love is he always introduces new futuristic ideas..does not repeat his works……always something new and intriguing . With that said would love a sequel to this one
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2025Tim Tigner’s creative energy explodes in this multi-dimensional thriller. He deftly weaves intellectual, medical, political, and moral dilemmas into a minefield of actions and consequences. The protagonists have a true marriage of equals — each brings a strength and intelligence that complements their partner.
The plot itself pushes the envelope of creativity. A firecracker of a prologue sets the tone and warns the reader of the wild ride to come The author is never predictable and the twists are well-timed and never cliche. Sympathies shift like the floors in a carnival fun house with each new twist. I defy the reader to turn the last page without thinking about what “The Greater Good” really means. Five stars is not enough!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2025Very much enjoyed this book as I usually enjoy spy/assassin thrillers and this was a very welcoming varying point of view to the assassin thrillers aspect.
Highly recommend reading and hopefully this becomes a series or has a follow up book in the future.
