After the sudden loss of her husband, Dr Laura Williams, Clinical Psychologist, embarked on a journey which would fundamentally change the way she lived her life. As part of her own healing, she began to write to come to terms with traumatic loss. After uncovering the potential of writing to process the emotions in grief, Dr Williams wanted to share this with others. This book is the culmination of that journey.

‘Grief-Writer: A Journal’ is a powerful 2 in 1 self-help tool to aid emotional processing in grief. The journal incorporates Dr Williams’ personal and professional writing and writing prompts to begin your own grief writing practice. If you allow it, this journal will help you move forward in the grieving process. Included in the journal are:

  • 10,000 words of Dr Williams’ own writing
  • including blogs, letters and poems.
  • A personal and professional perspective on grief and loss.
  • A psychological perspective on how to speak to children about death and loss.
  • 50 grief writing prompts to help you begin your own grief writing practice.
  • Beautiful illustrations that symbolise the stages of grief.
  • Quotes on the stages of grief, as originally coined by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, MD.

You can both read ‘Grief Writer: A Journal’ as a book and refer to it time and time again, as a companion in your journey, as you yourself write to heal.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect journal

I’ve been looking forward to the release of this book for so long after following Laura on social media and watching the journey of it and I done some of the writing prompts she put out earlier in the year.
The book is written with so much care and compassion and you can tell the author has been on the journey herself and knows what work needs to be done to help navigate through the grief process, I bought this for myself but I’ve just ordered one for my mum also. For anyone who has lost someone it’s the perfect tool to help you through and remember the good things about our loved one and understand the feelings we have after loss as it can all be so confusing and overwhelming.
Thank you Laura for taking the time and effort and to produce such a wonderful book.

Beautiful book written with such care and compassion. The writer has used her pain and grief to enable others through their journey of loss. The book is the perfect balance of personal and professional experience. I have no doubt that the practical support in the book, will enable people to express their inner feelings and thoughts.

The foreword Sets the scene beautifully for what Dr Laura Williams is trying achieve. What an inspiring lady and I look forward to see what more she has to offer in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reflecting

I ordered this book for a friend who is really struggling with the death of a parent.

I was just flicking through it with my husband who lost his mum over 20 years ago. We were chatting through some of the writing prompts about his mum. Really powerful questions that made him reflect on his own grief.

Will now buy this for him also.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant and heart warming book of personal grief and how we can all heal from our own grief
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 21, 2021
I love this book! You can skim read it in under an hour for a quick fix of love and understanding for yourself and others, or digest it slowly, taking in all the parts that resonate so deeply with one's own emotions and allowing the process of managing them. The authors own quotes are written brilliantly and are so poignant, just one of them alone can make a huge difference to how you go about your day!
A book that's not too long or too wordy, you won't want to put it down!

Dr Laura’s Grief Journal is a beautiful book. It has a lovely balance of personal blogs and space to journal your thoughts with guided prompts. It is a nice balance to encourage writing, without feeling overwhelming. It would also make a lovely gift for someone who is grieving. A hardback book, to journal and a heartfelt keepsake. Thank you Dr Williams for this contribution.
