I guess we all have a favorite and it might not be for some, but this is my all time favorite book and when I say I’ve read it 5 times that’s a lie because I’ve read it at least 10. It’s my go to. I love the story and the characters. It’s a little steamy and a lot of funny, two women destined to be together. Two women you can’t help but fall in love with 😍

Really liked this book. Best to read it around the Holiday (like I did), but the story & premise would be right out of a Hallmark movie, on Netflix! Think about who would be in this top rated cast, & have fun dreaming!

Again tho, great read. Characters are really people you can see, humor is funny & poignant at the right times. When it gets serious, it's SERIOUS. How to function when you're playing being the girlfriend of your best gay male friend, who isn't out to his family. Then you meet his Mom, & Fall for HER! Just like a Hallmark movie!

Erin Zak does it again. Takes a well constructed story that tugs at your heartstrings and reminds us of lessons to be learned. Be Yourself. For in honesty can one truly be. Iris who is a therapist , who lives with Zac her best friend and is a lesbian agrees with Zac’s crazy plan to bring Iris home with him for the holidays as his girlfriend. Iris agrees on the condition that Zac needs to come out to his mother since his mother is giving him a hard time. Although how she or the family not know is beyond Iris’s comprehension. But when they arrive and Zak introduces her, just in stares alone in the first few seconds indicate his family knows more than Zak realizes and maybe Zak hasn’t been fully honest with her where his relationship with his mother comes in. Since his mother wasn’t home yet, Iris decides to get some air and maybe pick up some pastries to bring home for his mother. At the local cafe, she is served by a stunning beautiful women. After some flirting back and forth, Iris leaves with her purchase. But sitting in the car and chancing not seeing this women again, she goes back in and grabs the women’s hand and into the bathroom they go. The connection and chemistry was so strong both knew what they wanted and went for it. Heidi introduced herself and gave Iris her number to contact her during her stay. Things take an unexpected turn when Iris returns and Zak ‘s Mom is on her way home. Erin’s storytelling takes us on an uncomfortable adventure. First with Iris, Zack’s Mom, Evan, Zack’s ex friend that his Mom invited, His Dad who is now with a man. Family secrets are running rampant. But as the truths start to come out, the true essence of each individual becomes clearer and the story takes a deeper meaning. Just a fantastic holiday read.

There's not one thing I would change in this wonderful book. It's got a little bit of family drama but what family doesn't? This is all about love. Love in many forms---friends, family, chosen family. The best love in these pages is of course between Iris and Heidi. Nearly instant love but when you know, you know. There is a fairly big age gap however it was never a problem. Heidi's problem was coming out to her family. I really felt all the feelings in these pages and there are a lot of them! Loved every character including a sweet canine. If you aren't into the holiday spirit yet then please read this beautifully written book. It will, without a doubt, give your heart a super good boost.

This was a fantastic holiday read. Perfect way to kick off the holiday season and oh am I ready for it. This was very much the perfect blend of sapphic hallmark vibes that flirts with an R rating. This is a hot mess express, laugh-out-loud funny, steamy queer family romcom that had some complexities I wasn't expecting. This was just a fun, light read (even with the heavier topics of self-acceptance and family healing) that brought me so much joy. A perfect holiday read!
I absolutely adored Heidi and Iris. Zac's whole family was utterly charming and I was obsessed with Maddie (because omg she's so precious).

Okay - also - confession: When I read Iris' name in this book, The Holiday film just ran free in my mind, and when Zak made mention of it in the book I legit laughed out loud.

I will say right up front that I am a HUGE Erin Zak fan. I really love the way she writes and I have all of her books. Home for the Holidays has become my favorite book of Erin's to date. That says a lot, because I really love both The Tapestry of a Heart & Guarding Evelyn so much. This book is a beautiful holiday sapphic romance that captivated me in the first chapter and I never wanted it to end

The cast of characters in Home for the Holidays are just so authentic and loveable. Iris and Heidi are my favorite sapphic romance couple of 2023 hands down! I also adored the whole Nowak family (including their adorable dog, Maddie). Erin Zak was masterful at creating a family you would love to be a part of and characters you would love to be friends with. The main characters undergo life-changing journeys involving being true to themselves and seeking family acceptance. Their stories are both heartbreaking and heartwarming simultaneously. Erin Zak expertly intersperses the story with holiday charm, diverse family dynamics, lively drama, hilarious banter, clever plot points, Hallmark romance vibes, and some very memorable spicy scenes.

This book is filled with everything your heart needs this holiday season I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! And I really want to be trapped in a snow globe with Heidi Well done Erin Zak!

I absolutely love the way Erin Zak writes. It’s so natural & organic that it’s easy to fall in love with her characters & their stories. Home for the Holidays is no exception. Her writing of comedy is pitch perfect, I genuinely laughed so many times throughout this book. It also explores some deep & painful issues surrounding acceptance & being truly loved for who you are, not who anyone wanted you to be. This element is also written perfectly, there is no bashing you over the head with it, as I’ve said it’s beautifully organic & subtle. Most of us have had the horrors of awkwardness at a family Christmas & that kind of universal appeal flows through this book. All the characters are so well rounded, especially Iris & Heidi, you’ll be rooting for them from the off.
It’s also so hot- I think Erin Zak is one of the best writers of 🌶️ scenes in the genre. As with all the Erin Zak books I’ve read I loved this & highly recommend it, in short Home for the Holidays is not just for Christmas, read it all year round, it’s a gift.

No other words are needed. This book was a delight to read from the first word to the last. Talk about page turner! I’ve read it in a day! That’s how addictive this book is. You get dragged in and never want to leave, I’d happily read another 40 chapters.
The characters are just so real, the issues they have to overcome are believable and the overall ending is as cute as can be.
This had been added to my TBB paperback list, even before I finished it. 5 stars just doesn’t cut it.

The perfect holiday-feel book to read. You can’t help but want to feel feelings..happy feelings 😁 it’s just unfortunate that Australia has a summer Christmas season.

As introductions go, this one shoves the reader into lust straight away. It feels abrupt at first, like heavily stepping on the brakes, but then the author executes a smooth shift so readers eases into book.

It’s messy and lovely (like all families) I love Maddie!!! She’s the cutest character. End of story. There was a lot of selfishness and self-absorption floating around the minor characters which gave the story a lot of ammunition for conflict. It’s also comforting to read a sound mental and emotional reflection happening within the characters. It’s just healthy…..and hopeful for unstable readers to appreciate 😁

P.S There is a shift in the author’s way of writing/style/the way they present the story from their earlier published books. It’s subtle but noticeable (for me anyway) and I appreciate their growth.

This is quite an unusual Christmas gift of a story. There’s plenty of Hallmark style riffing going on, but serious themes on understanding and being yourself running through the book. Heidi and Iris are great characters and so are the ones around them. I really enjoyed it and will definitely read it again.
