Dark, stalker Christmas romance? With a sort of cinnamon roll yet OTT obsessive MMC?!? It sounds like it won’t work but lemme tell you otherwise. IT WORKS and it works REALLY WELL. I love Alta, we already know this but this is the perfect example of why. First responder Jack has been watching Chloe from afar for years since he was the one on site of her horrible and tragic accident that changed her life. He “protects” her by meaning he obsessed and stalks her until a chance meeting brings them back together IRL so the boundaries of dark and light are blurred. I am weirdly attached to Jack, I found myself wanting so badly for him to find a happy ending with Chloe, sounds weird but I was rooting hard for the stalker. Also, my GOODNESS, the steam as always was piping hot. I loved it. 4.25/5 stars!

    A different angle on a stalker romance. A few spelling and grammatical errors, and a strange turn of phrase ‘effortlessly fumbles.’ I really enjoyed the MMC, his conflict and his duality. The FMC was ok but no real growth in her character. The sexy bits were hot. Christmas was worked in well without overpowering the story.

    Jack was super hot, and I want my own obsessed fireman. I loved how his good boy, service oriented, hot cocoa self played against his obsession and kinks. And I love that he took the effort to both care for Chloe as well as fulfill her darkest fantasies. I really felt for him, and I haven’t been so highly emotionally engaged with a stalker before!

    Love the story and spice between the FMC and MMC. I couldn’t put the book down it was good. Wished there was more but this was a great standalone story and perfect to read before Christmas. Funny that the story takes place in NYC where I live. If only life was actually like in the books but like I said the book is great book to read during the holidays especially for dark romance girliest. Stalking is in the book so if you’re not into reading it in books please look at the trigger warning on the book description site before reading!

    I absolutely loved Jack! His POV and inner turmoil was a welcome change from the normal OTT obsession. Chloe wasn’t a damsel but I knew somehow he’d be there when it counted!

    I’d love to see Sloane get her asylum love story!

    It took me a minute to get into it all, lots of things were happening but nothing of consequence was happening, if you know what I mean.

    it can be considered a “slow burn” given that the main characters don’t get really together until almost 75% of the book.

    Chloe was a bit oblivious to evident stuff and was definitely cooler/more relaxed that I would be given the circumstances of the “third act break up”.

    Jack was (at times) sweet and it did seem like he was entering the friend zone but god bless the sex clubs 🤣 iykyk

    But really needed help with formatting/editing. I’m usually not one to let poor editing affect a book for me, but this one was starting too. Lots of online messages/texting that didn’t follow previously established formatting, made it difficult to track if it was text or not.
    Otherwise, story and smut a solid 3.5/4 stars. Plot was predictable, but told well. “Morally grey” MMC made me realize my love for other “morally grey” leads are really morally pitch black. He is genuinely grey, a good guy that got too obsessed with a girl. No real triggers regarding the smut at least if that’s a concern. A nice mix of hallmark-y sweetness and smutty yumminess.

    I was excited to read this stalker romance but it fell flat. I thought Chloe's handle on Dark Secrets was too obvious and she seemed so Vanilla to me despite the fact that she had such "darker side" to her. It was just honestly boring once I was past the 40% mark.
