About the author

Andreas Wagner is a journalist, writer, poker player, and interpreter based in London. At the age of 18, he was already writing for WELT, one of Germany’s top newspapers. He also worked as an interpreter for famous football players and managers like José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Gareth Southgate, and Jürgen Klopp, travelling the world and meeting many interesting people.
Between 2006 and 2020, Andreas worked in the gambling industry professionally as a football consultant and as an advisor for one of the world’s most successful betting syndicates. This is where he discovered his love for statistics and gambling with an edge. Since there was no other book specifically dedicated to poker in London, Andreas was keen to write the London Poker Guide, which is his third book.
His first book, Get Rid of Your Small Addictions, was about the effects addictions have on people’s brains and how they can combat them. His second book was about living as a man in the 21st century, albeit that one was commissioned to be written in German and is yet to be published in English.

This book shows why we often lack motivation in life and what we can do to change that.
The author explains how bad some of the activities are that we mindlessly do like staring at our cell phones whenever we have two seconds of boredom or binging Netflix all night. Thus it is very inspiring and thought provoking.
It was very interesting to find out what effects all these things like eating sugar, instagram, watching TV, even playing video games have on our brain. Therefore I highly recommend the book.

It covers everything from fasting, diets, exercises, coping with addictions, and etc. I love how the author included some personal stories and his unique perspectives on this topic, making everything in the book a lot more relatable. I highly recommend it.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2020Format: KindleIf you're picking up a book about addiction, you shouldn't be surprised with a discussion about sex, porn, food, and social media, all in the same chapter. This book is real. It gets to the heart of why people, with the writer's main focus on men, become addiction to small things that end up stealing their joy and causing them to be unhappy in their lives. This book is frank and honest. The author puts delicate subjects as delicately as he can, while still be honest. All of us have these moments in our lives when we let simple pleasures become addictions. The author explains why, and provides some real, valuable, tips on how to shed these habits and find real happiness in life again. He explains the impact of dopamine on our brains, why certain behaviors cause a release of dopamine which is a feel good natural body drug that make us want to keep doing those behaviors. The problem is, many of those behaviors are destructive to our lives, our relationships, and our finances. The author explains what he calls the Dopamine Detox, and how anyone can shed the small addictions that destroy our happiness. Be prepared for some honest, self examination. You'll be glad you did.

The language is quite friendly that an amateur reader can also understand what the author wants to convey. I really recommend reading this book, because this book can change your life in ways that you can't imagine. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye-opening book that will make you happier
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLots of great tips how to overcome lethargy. Happily Ever After is a truly eye-opening book. It shows how closely related food and sex are with happiness for us humans, but not in a way you would think.
The author describes what brings us down and offers some sensible solutions like delayed gratification and meditation.
The section about social media is particularly fascinating.
Overall a great book and in this case you can even judge a book by its cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of practical ideas and solutions
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWell-reasoned throughout with information based on the author’s personal experiences making his findings all the more valuable. The text includes many sound suggestions as to how best avoid being sucked in to any one of the various forms of modern addiction, understanding what the numerous types of addiction have in common and, where appropriate, how to make changes.
From management of sexual activity to good dietary practice, the overall advice throughout is sensible and practical. The author brings an interesting perspective on his own journey and conveys plenty of thoughtful advice. The sheer number of surprising observations are worthy of serious consideration, stressing above everything else the importance of dopamine. Topics such as the relevance of superstimuli are addressed in great detail. Happily ever After is refreshingly frank, honest and most important of all, highly informative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some good information and facts together in one place
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe book is an interesting read and its evident the author has taken the time to research his topic. Alot of information is provided in the book, his own personal experience added is a nice touch and demonstrates he hasn't just collated a bunch of information, but he has also taken the the time to experience what he has chosen to write about.
In the beginning he does say it is mainly targeted at a male audience, but as a woman reading the book I would say it does focus on information for men (or a woman trying to gain a better understanding), alongside relevant points of awareness for society as a whole i.e. the physical and psychological affects of consumerism and addiction.
