He Made Me Do It: MM Stepbrother Taboo Romance. Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 285 ratings

Zayn

What is it like to be a gay Muslim? Honestly? It feels like I've been cursed for all eternity. And then I had to go and fall for Asher Hannes and make it even more complicated.

Not only was he a guy, he happened to be my cocky and rebellious stepbrother who became the reason I began to get in trouble for things that weren't even my fault.

Just seven months of his mother having married my dad, seven months of living under the same roof with him and sometimes even sharing the same bed and I already knew I was going to hell. Because I couldn't keep fighting who I was around him. I couldn't keep ignoring how I felt.

Wanting him was wrong. I never intended to cross any lines. But he made me do it anyway.

Note: This is a high school romance but with 18+ content. It does contain controversial themes relating to religion and homophobia but overall, it's a feel-good love story.

So I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about a stepbrother taboo story that also included religious undertones, but I was really surprised. This is an extremely hot and steamy story that balances the religious angst really well. Poor Zayn had so much guilt and conflict to overcome and I really felt his anguish. Asher starts out as kind of a dick, trying to ruffle Zayn every chance he gets, but then discovers that along the way he's fallen in love with his stepbrother. I loved how they were together - each one filling something that the other lacked - and their love comes across as really genuine. Of course, they are 17 year old boys, so there's lots of horniness and banter, misunderstandings and making up, and all the usual drama for that age. Asher's "job" was a fun little side bit and I loved the extended epilogues that spanned from graduation to 22 years old. This was my first book by this author, but I'm already planning on checking other titles by them as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Being new to Ms.Storm's work I've been looking so forward to reading her books! As soon as I stumbled across a teaser for this one I knew i had to read it first! Right from the start this story had my full attention. I really enjoyed He Made Me Do It!

Zayn and Asher's journey pulled me in from the start! I loved getting into both of their minds and the way I felt so many things with both of them! I really liked the fact that this story tackled things you don't often see in books and that got me even more into it.

With He Made Me Do It, Ms.Storm has created such a great read! I can't wait to pick up more of her books in the near future! ❤️

Zayn and Asher became stepbrothers at age 17 when their parents married. Zayn is a practicing Muslim virgin young gay man who has a rough time reconciling his beliefs with his identity. Asher is an uncloseted gay man who also runs a lucrative hacking business with his friends. When the two meet for the first time there is an immediate attraction. Asher becomes almost obsessed with Zayn while Zayn deals with his own crisis of conscience. Can these two complete their last year of high school while living under the same roof and being drawn more closely to each other?

This book is more a pseudo-taboo theme, as the two brothers have no blood ties. While the author does respectfully deal with Muslim traditions and the difficulties faced by the LGBT community in reconciling faith and identity, as well as unaccepting family, the MCs and their actions could be more well developed and detailed.

    Zee “Made Me Do It.”

This was my first venture into taboo romance and I was glad it was Zee’s book. I’ve read two of her other amazing works and ‘He Made Me Do It’ was as exemplary as those I’ve read. Zee has a way of weaving an interesting web.

This book was so much more that romance and steam, it tackled Zayn’s struggles living as a closeted gay man in a Muslim household. I’m so glad that he was accepted by his father, eventually, and the support that he received afterward warmed my heart to no end.

And then there was Asher, a fun, sure of himself guy who pushed Zayn out of his shell and his closet. His love, protective nature, and loyalty to Zayn was admirable.

And that ending. Yes, please! It was a perfect HEA wrapped in a rainbow, finished with a bow. I’m still smiling.

If you like a little taboo with your romance, you will enjoy this one.

Great job, Zee! I hope you write more gay love stories.

This was a beautiful story to read. Both characters grew and matured so much throughout the book. They pushed each other, supported each other, and allowed each other to find love and happiness.
This book was super angsty. So many nail biting "will they get caught" moments. There's a touch of kink, lots of wonderful dirty talk, and so much heart.

This is my first time reading this author and I just loved her writing style.

I really didn’t understand all the bad reviews, I absolutely loved this book!
It made me cry and smile and cry happy tears!
I loved the “possessiveness” of Asher, it was mild but it was there.
I did feel like we were going in circles for a bit but it wasn’t anything like “OH MY GOD AGAIN” you know?
Spicy level was a 4/5 the dirty talk was amazing

I really loved the MCs and the angsty, emotional story of a young Muslim man coming of age while doubly conflicted by being gay and loving his stepbrother, two very taboo strikes in his faith. How very challenging to value the tenets of a religion that condemns who you are and what you feel. The struggles felt so real and relatable. Of course, since Zayn and Asher are 17, there are some hot steamy scenes along with all the uncertainty (teenage hormones, you know😏). I loved the growth and self-awareness and acceptance that Zayn experienced. The ending and acceptance were wonderful. although I am not sure how realistic is was. (Love is love, but in the real world religious intolerance sometimes prevails.) Definitely a beautiful and heartfelt read.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

..and I don't say that because of the taboo aspect. It was must different type of story telling and layout. Not a bad read, just not as interesting as I thought it would be.

This was a great introduction into this authors work for me.

I LOVED Asher and Zayn - their story was just perfect ❤
I liked that the story is told from both their perspectives and you really understand their thoughts and feelings.

The way the author has sensitively approached homosexuality within an overtly homophobic religion was really well done and I thought represented well what others in the same situation as Zayn will go through. And for those people - remember you'll always have people in your corner ❤

The Stepbrother trope is very popular so it was very nice to read an alternative to the norm, and who doesn't love mm!

My only slight niggle with this storyline is Asher and his sneaky beaky job. I'm not sure how realistic this is for a 17 year old? If it wasn't mentioned at all would we of lost anything from the storyline? I'm not sure 🤷🏻‍♀️

4.0 out of 5 stars Wichtiges Buch
Reviewed in Germany on July 25, 2022
