Heart of the Void: Sosaku Online - Book 2 Kindle Edition
Arriving in a tide of blood and horror, a forgotten cult from the depths of the ocean has laid waste to the once glorious city of Sehkem and scattered its people throughout the empire.
The global storyline is in full swing, and James is all over it. Tasked with a critical mission by the god of death, Kheph and Kjara must make their way back to Sehkem, find their way past the invading army, and retrieve an ancient artifact from the depths of an ancient tomb.
Sounds easy, right?
Yeah... not so much.

About the author

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... well, not really that long ago... or far even, but for the purpose of this description we will pretend... A boy-child was born to a pair of loving parents, and this boy-child would grow, nurtured and loved... but also steeped in the culture of the 80s and 90s, so you can probably guess how he turned out... As a gamer! A lover of Sci-fi and Fantasy books, and a student of Computer Science.
All of these things have merged together, like Captain Planet and the Elements... nah, Voltron (The lions, not the wierdo cars). Much cooler, to form the man, the myth, the published, J. Arthur Klein.
To be continued...

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2022The series keeps getting better. The characters are fun and I love the growing relationship between Kjara and Kev!
The quest line is developing internally. I like the references to Kemetic (Egyptian) mythos. But it looks like it might touch on some others but I don’t want to ruin it so I won’t say anymore about it.
The narrator duo does a great job and have grown on me. They definitely breath life into the characters.
Please keep these coming!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021I just read this one and wish I could read the next book. I would say it is as good as the first in the series. It has a fun world and a interesting story line. Give it a chance
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2021Book 2 continues in the Egyptian theme, which is a nice change from so many books using the Norse pantheon. This one is chock full of references to pop culture, and builds on Kheph and Kjaras relationship. Overall nice writing, decent plot and pacing, and the crunch was in the "just right" zone. Well worth the read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2021Well done, Mr. Klein. Great character development, excellent action scenes, and even a bit of crafting. Looking forward to book 3, and any others to follow.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2023I’m loving this series so much. Starting book 3 right now. It is so hard to get this combination between real life, game life and romantic interest right and this is the first series I have come across to do it since Ascend Online. Keep up the great work.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2021Much like book one this one keeps things moving forward at a brisk pace that has you suddenly going "what! It can't be over yet. I just started reading." Looking forward to the next book, and the next and the next.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2021I'm having such a blast with this series. Love the characters and world building. Also like the slow burn romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A non-stop thrill ride
I have been waiting not so patiently for this second book. It did not disappoint. A totally vibrant and believable world. The characters are fun to follow along with. Downloaded the book at 12:01 am and did not put it down until I finished. The only bad part is now I have to wait for book 3

5.0 out of 5 stars Different and fun
Engaging characters and a setting that's an interesting change from the usual western fantasy trope make this sequel as entertaining as the first book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lirtpg done right.
As close to a perfectly crafted LitRPG as you can get.
Follows on from where book one left off, and is an absolute delight to read.
I hope to see many more books from this author. He has a real flare!
