Publisher's summary

When Gage Evans gets a look at his hot nurse, he's smitten immediately. Too bad he's given the nurse the impression he's some kind of daredevil. It couldn't be further from the truth. Gage is a college journalism instructor writing a series of guest columns that require him to jump into new experiences - a fun bucket list, but one that does nothing to convince Ben he's not an adrenaline junkie.

Fresh off his latest heartbreak, nurse Ben Griggs is wary when one of his patients shows an interest in him - especially when that patient showed up in the ER after a motorcycle accident. Ben's ex was a biker, a friend with benefits, and he dropped Ben cold when someone more interesting came along. Ben isn't the kind of guy who can hold the interest of an adrenaline junkie like Gage Evans for long. The last thing he wants is to lose his heart to the wrong man again.

The more Ben gets to know Gage, the harder he is to resist. He can only hold on for the ride and keep his guard up as much as he can. But Ben's lack of trust seriously gets in the way of building a relationship, and Gage will only be patient so long. Can he trust Gage enough to give his heart, or are they destined to have a fling that goes nowhere?

This is a spin-off from the Ashe Sentinel Connections series, where Ben appears briefly in the book Hard Press. It can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Great start to a series

A fun jaunt through the misfortunes of a college journalism professor who keeps injuring himself while "experiencing the story" and the nurse who treats him. Hoping the side characters reappear in future books in the series!

Great start to a new series

Hearts and Health is a new Series for DJ Jamison. I adore her books and this one didn't disappoint at all. Kenneth Obi is such an amazing narrator - such a loss.

I think the growth of these MC's is on point. Its slow enough to be believe and watching the trust and love grow is beautiful.

I am really looking forward to book 2.

Great story!

I loved the characters in this story! Gage is an optimist with a sad past, Ben has been burned in love and is afraid to trust. They go on a series of dates for Gage's articles and end up falling in love ( not without some trials ). In the end they get their HEA. The narrator does a great job with the story and kept me captivated.

Feel Good Romance

Such a good book with great narration by Kenneth Obi. DJ Jamison does great job of making you feel for both MC and understand why they have such opposite attitudes regarding commitment. She gives you sexy times, sass, humor as well as feels.

Sweetl romance with feels

This is a pretty sweet, fluffy, low angst romance between two men with trust issues. The angst was low, but there were plenty of feels. It was enjoyable going on this journey as the two main characters worked through their issues toward their happy ever after.

The narrator did a great job bringing out/ expressing the emotion of the characters at the appropriate times. One small thing got in my nerves though: he tends to end each chapter awkwardly. Like, it sounds like he's going to continue but then suddenly it's the next chapter.

Would recommend.

A bit overly dramatic

I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long time. So I got super excited when I finally got around to do it.

I liked this book a lot. Gage and Ben are very lovable characters. But, and this is why it wasn’t a full five star read, Ben was a bit too much. I needed him to get out of his head a bit earlier than he did. He freaked out over and over and over and over again.

I’m not sure about the secondary character Zayne having both an abusive dad and stepdad. For me, that kind of homophobia seems a bit too much and over the top. But I guess I’ll get to know more about that in the next book.

The narration was good. A few weird pauses here and there but except that, amazing.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the 2 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening, but not more then twice a year.
it's like a B
