- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2024Again, Melinda Woodhall has written an addictive book. These stories, in each of the series, are just so difficult to put down. They are what I call "take with me" books. You never know when you might have 10 or 15 stray minutes to gobble up a little more of the story until you can sit and read for longer periods of time so the book is kept at my fingertips. No end to the action in this one. Just a good old fashioned police procedural tale. Thrilling to the last word. Finish one on Melinda's books and you are looking for the next.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2021This is a very good thriller. It's one you can't put down. Each nook in this series gets better. I highly recommend this book and series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2020Another season of suspense for Veronica Lee and the town of Willow Bay. I really enjoyed the plot tangles and resolutions. Looking forward to Melinda Woodhall's next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2024In the fourth book of the series, Veronica wants to find information about her newly discovered half-sister Skylar’s mom, Summer. She sends off 2 private investigators to look around their father’s hometown. The FBI’s taskforce is continuing to look into online traffickers and a lead takes them to the same hometown.
While interviewing people in the town, they discover that this small town does not want to talk to strangers. They stumble upon Summer’s best friend, and things start to look up, when she is murdered before getting any real information. As more information is collected, the teams discover that they are really working on one case.
This book is a roller coaster of twists and turns. Expertly written you will not want to put this one down. Thanks to BookSirens for the copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2020Many thanks to the author / BookSirens for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Veronica Lee needs to find what happened to her half-sister's mother who disappeared many years ago. Suspicion falls on a man .. a serial killer .. who is no longer alive. Her body has never been found. Veronica has two private investigators looking into what was his hometown.
Meanwhile, the FBI is looking into a network of online predators ... in the same hometown.
When the cases start to merge, there are more questions than answers ... someone knows the truth ..and they don't want their secrets exposed. Danger is a lot closer than any of them think.
Being 4th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend starting at the very beginning. The characters are all solidly written ... the crimes are full of twists and turns ... the endings are suspenseful .. and unexpected.

Warning: This book contains descriptive accounts of extremely graphic adult content (racial hatred), violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material (minor/adult verbal, psychological, emotional, physical & sexual abuse, pornography, kidnapping/prostitution of a human trafficking (slavery) for sexual exploitation) which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive or have potential adverse psychological effects on the reader. If you are especially sensitive to this type of material, it is strongly advised not to read any further.
An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written human trafficking (slavery) for sexual exploitation book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters & facts to keep track of. This could also make another great human trafficking (slavery) for sexual exploitation movie, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an amazingly easy rating of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really great thriller
When I say a really great thriller, I mean it is packed with suspense and chills....such excitement! You never know what is coming next. Then you have a sensitive scene that warms the heart. Melinda Woodhall knows how to write a great story. I'd encourage anyone who likes Ashville to choose this one,as you won't be disappointed.
