    Hidden Demons (Altered Demons Book 1) by Fish Phillips is the story of a political assassin that may be more of a supernatural entity than a man. In 2044 the Earth is very different from what it is today. Climate change has done immense damage and now a Secret Service operation in Tokyo has gone horribly wrong. To save herself, Dee Johnson has to partner with an unlikely source. Not long after, she finds herself traveling in the United States where attacks on politicians have everyone on edge. The search for the culprit takes them to the Shenendoah Forest where she may be searching for a man, or something that came out of legends.
    The future setting of this novel does a good job of getting the reader engaged. It gives the idea that climate change is far more dangerous than it appears today, and adds to the warning that if we do not start changing things today then unspeakable horrors may await us in the future. Fans of mysteries will enjoy this especially if you like the added supernatural possibilities.

    Hidden Demon (Altered Demons Book 1) by Fish Phillips is a well-written thriller set in the near future. Dee Johnson is the main character, a special agent, and is installed in Japan. But her mission goes decidedly wrong. Along with another special agent, Ko, from another country, she must confront and look into various attacks on political leaders. Along with this storyline, there is climate change commentary, a touch of the paranormal, and espionage. All of these elements combine to create an intriguing story and one that is eminently readable. The plot grabs your attention right from the start, while the pace keeps it going until the end. Highly recommend it for an interesting and engaging read.

And because the story is so tightly wound, I found myself really caring about the characters. Hidden Demon is a well-crafted combination of contemporary thriller, climate change commentary, mythology and sci-fi. The author spins an intriguing and compelling thriller that had me captivated from the first page to the last. Looking forward to reading more in this series and a well-deserved five stars from me.

    It is political-techno-action-thriller. If you are looking for something along any of those lines, then I recommend this book. For someone like me who usually struggles to get through books this one was perfect. The chapters are short so I didn’t find myself constantly checking to see “how much longer till I get to the end of this chapter and will I make it before falling asleep”. And part of that was also that every chapter really kept me engaged. Many of you avid book readers could probably read it in just a few hours. The author is a kind hearted, forward looking, intelligent man and he uses these traits very well when writing this book. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

The narrative is fast-paced, and even when the weaving turns a bit too complex, the author managed to make it engaging enough to keep on going. I could see this book turning into a movie.

    Hidden Demon (Altered Demons Book 1) is the first novel I have read by Fish Phillips I was impressed. This book is very magical, transporting the reader to a whole new world of magic. There was a real balance of darkness and realm of fantasy with lightness and a mild glimpse of humor. Phillips brought the characters to life, as he penned this amazing story and created his characters. I was entranced by the story. The writing was fast-paced. This book is a real page-turner. You won’t want to put it down. I received a copy of this novel through BookFunnel. This is an honest review, and my own opinions.

    Dee Johnson is a US Secret Agent embedded in Japan. Set in the near future, her operation goes terribly wrong, and she is blamed for the failure. Together with another disgraced agent from another country, Ko and Dee team up to investigate strange new attacks on the leaders and members of politics. This is a political/espionage thriller with paranormal underlines. I found the author did a fantastic job in his descriptive storytelling, so to really pull us into the story more. I enjoyed Ko as a character the most.
