Leland

Stopping a robbery was only the beginning—to fun, action-filled mayhem. Jackson’s afraid that I’m running headfirst into trouble (again), but I’m not… I’m running gun-first into it. When one of the robbers who’s really just a kid comes begging for my help, I definitely have no choice but to help him.

The kid is convinced his brother has been wrongly accused, and while Jackson My Love might be over there going, “You were hired to look into it, not to go undercover, sink a boat, and hunt down a gang,” I feel like he’s simply confused… because I’m gonna hunt down TWO gangs (and is that a car chase I see?).

A simple “Whodunnit” turns into us being targeted by multiple bad guys as we run after them instead of away from them, dragging Cassel and Henry—and some others—along for the ride. I really can’t be the only one who sees the issue here, but… as I watch them race into danger, I’m starting to think I am.

Loving Leland comes easy, but keeping him safe doesn’t because there’s someone trailing Leland who might want to hurt him. The problem is that as Lucas strings us along and tales begin to become tangled, it’s hard to tell who is right and who is wrong.

    Leland is once again chasing his tail because of Lucas. All the bad guys were being puppets by Lucas which made for a convoluted story and the team had to be on their toes to figure out what was going on. Waylon is pretty much an innocent and although Leland scares him, he knows it’s best to stick with him and Jackson. Loved Travis getting in the mix, need more of him. Enjoyed this one with its usual action and hilarity.

Leland is one of my favorite characters ever written, and watching him grow through this series, surrounded and loved by a group of unlikely friends, has just been such a joy to read. I really hope there is much more to come in this series, it's just wonderful!

I love that the family is expanding and the delicious gooey middle is always Leland. I love more scenes with Leland and Cassel showing that they are truly brothers in a love-hate relationship, but when one is in trouble they have each other's back. I am a FOREVER fan of The Hitman's Guide family and want MORE.

    *NOTE* The ultimate pleasure in the book is Leland's playlist. So don't drink anything for the scenes where Leland is singing. You have been warned.

    I seriously love love love The Hitmans Guide. I never knew such entertainment, adoration and love could come from a series. These men are just amazing, hilarious and just bring such joy. Alice winters does it again and again. She has this amazing way (totally unmatched) of creating these characters that jump off the page and have so my hunch life and heart, you just fall in love with them. The antics and storyline in this 5th book are wonderful and continue to bring light to more that Leland had gone through 10-ish years ago, along with give you the chance to get to know characters briefly introduced over the last couple books. You get so much entertainment from Leland, Jackson and of course Henry and Cassel—with Jeremy in towe. I loved it. Cannot wait for Alice’s next installment!

    My favorite character Leland starts this book out by saving people from three robbers and of course he continues to save everyone and everything through the rest of the book. Ok Leland that’s my review….you don’t need to read further.

    Yes well there are a few other people in this latest Hitman’s book by Alice Winters but we have to be careful about talking about how great they are because a certain character has a volatile sense of humor and a vault of (stuff).
    I’m sorry, but I can’t help being weird and wonderful when I write about one of these stories because Ms Winters does such an on point job of making me laugh while still telling a sometimes serious story. The balance that she achieves is one of those tricky things that she makes seem effortless but I’m sure is hard won. The stories are just a way to let these characters come out and play and drag us along with them because for me it’s these absolutely marvelous characters that have me reading these books as soon as they come out. Another great one.

The shenanigans and hilarity as well as the heart of these men begins with book 1 and continues with all the love, feelings and amazing LOL times through the whole series.     You can never go wrong with Leland and Jackson. Every book of theirs is funnier and crazier than the one before. Of course, you need to forget reality when you read these books because I don't think there's anyone close to as crazy (read: AWESOME) as Leland in the real world. This story had as many sweet (and painful) parts as it did funny ones, and I loved seeing how Leland is slowly growing into himself with Jackson's love and support. I'd love to read Tavish, Micah, and Everly's (especially Everly's) story someday too.
