Holiday Fling Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 153 ratings

All Jake has to do is remember it's a fling.

During my flight to Honolulu, the sexy guy on the next seat drunkenly admits his bi-curiosity. Naturally, I don't hesitate to volunteer as tribute to be his first kiss. He politely declines, but then we run into each other in the hotel bar.

Thus begins a hot holiday fling with Bennett. Bennett's on the rebound and I've never had a serious relationship. This thing between us can only be casual. But just because this is temporary doesn't mean I can't help salvage what's left of Bennett's Christmas.

If only I didn't have to keep reminding myself not to catch feelings.

A sweet and sizzling-hot holiday vacation romance set in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Crystal Lacy lives with her loving family in Hawaii, where it is always either drizzling or sunny and never snows—which is a shame, because she prefers being cold to being damp and hot unless it’s for Very Good Reasons. She writes queer romance, mainly m/m, but also some f/f stuff as well. She has aspirations to one day write a YA novel about cats.

Crystal is also a long-time fangirl and writes slash fan fiction for the Harry Potter and NBC Hannibal fandoms under the name crystalusagi. She has a deep love for fandom culture, and can be frequently spotted on Twitter and Tumblr reblogging pretty fan art.

I totally did not expect this to be such a sweet, cool, scorching and almost totally angst-free exploration of how Bennet, a seemingly straight Vietnamese-American lawyer and Jake, an openly gay hunk of a chef (on the cover) could meet, greet and come together as a result of a rather dicey plot device.

That device would be that they happen to be seated next to each other in First Class on a flight from Seattle to Honolulu where Bennett was supposed to go for Christmas with his long-time girlfriend who dumped him that day not knowing that he was going to propose to her in Hawaii.

    Right.

Well, it doesn't get more ridiculous than that but it does build slowly into an exploration of how a couple of young men with seemingly different life paths could come together accidentally and stay with each other for a whole week as Bennett confronts his potentially hidden bisexual self and Jake decides this is going to be fun exploring the options with his new found best bud.

It's billed as a Christmas story, but don't let the cover fool you. This is a love story that happens to take place during Christmas in Hawaii, and that alone is worth discovering in a way that author Lacy makes us appreciate almost as much as she does laying out a path to love that surprises and warms at every turn.

This was a fun and sexy read. It took me a bit to get into it, but I soon fell for both Bennett and Jake. Their chemistry was off the charts, and the sexy times were smoking hot. They also had great conversations and made each other feel special in ways no one else had done. I appreciated how open Bennett was about his previous interest in men, even though he never acted on those attractions. I liked how Jake opened up to Bennett about his dreams in a way he couldn't bring himself to do with anyone else. I cared about these men, and I enjoyed their fling-turned-romance. The epilogue made me extra happy. Loved it!

    Four and a half stars

Holiday Fling by Crystal Lacy is just that—Jake and Bennett meet on the plane on the way to Hawaii, and agree to slip into holiday mode together. It turns out to be the vacation of their dreams.

Crystal Lacy’s rebound, insta-lust, bi-awakening story is the perfect holiday treat!

I received an ARC of this book. I discovered this author this year and I'm so glad I did. I have loved all of her stories and this one is no different. When I started it, I thought it was going to be a predictable gay for you holiday story. It was anything but predictable. It was unique, with one confident MC and another who is unsure. With the strength of each other, Bennett and Jake discover new things about themselves and heal old wounds. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a hot, romantic holiday read!!!

A meet cute on a plane leads to unexpected feelings for Jake and Bennett. Their holiday break together is fun and scorching hot. The guys have instant chemistry and are so cute around each other it will have you rooting for them from the off.

Crystal Lacy always tells a good story and Holiday Fling is no exception. If you read and enjoyed her Oahu Lovers series, then this should definitely be added to your TBR list. If you've never read anything by Crystal, then add all four books to your list now.

    You won't be sorry.

Crystal Lacy's books are instant favorites for me. This one, in particular, is scorching hot. It's definitely the ideal for a holiday rebound fling that stretches into a real relationship & I love it. I love the characters. I just totally love this. It gets bonus points for including a Hannibal (TV series) reference.

This was just a super fun read and I feel like gushing over it. Crystal Lacy is a new to me author and I’m so glad I decided to take the plunge into her work with “holiday fling”. It was everything I could have hoped for to get me into the holiday spirit. The pacing was pretty quick but I was still able to become invested in the MCs HEA. I highly recommend this book as the perfect weekend read this holiday It was nice and steamy while being full of Christmas time fun

A moving story of two men, one straight and brokenhearted from a very recent break up, the other gay and confident within himself, both end up side by side in a plane to Hawaii. I totally loved this bittersweet tale, it made me happy at times and then at times I thought it was going to break my heart. Beautifully written, just a gorgeous tale.

A great feel good read, with some Christmas magic thrown in. Loved both Jake and Bennett, they were both believable and down to earth. They came with a story that created a true Christmas atmosphere, even though most of the story is set in Hawaii. Jake in love was a sight to behold.

Well written, both MCS are likeable, just open the book, take it to a large comfy chair with a mug of hot chocolate, preferably in front of a large log fire, curl up and enjoy. It's a book that demands nothing of you except to relax and enjoy. A feel good story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Rebound
Reviewed in Canada on January 15, 2020
This was a great holiday romance and such a fun read! It had just the right balance of fun fling and long lasting romance. The chemistry was excellent between the two leads with that background thought that it could be something real if they were just willing to take the chance.

Jake and Bennett have a bit of a poor meeting with a drunken plane encounter but it really opens things up. There is this feeling at the beginning that these two can take the chance and give each other a try because it's just a holiday fling and anything goes. But the mediating factor that doesn't let this get to far is the fact that from the start these two realize their non-vacation lives are not too far apart. As they connect and begin to realize this could be so much more than a fling there is always that possibility in the back of their minds.

The holiday idea also lets the relationship happen because it allows for Bennett to explore a side he never has. Despite having experimented before Bennett has not really thought about being with men since university. The 'vacation' mindset allows him to embrace that part he has always ignored and then seriously consider if it is something that could be more in his life.

Jake and Bennett get the chance to build something that doesn't have to be rushed to a forever too soon. The Christmas magic is both something all around and something they make for each other. It was a great holiday story!
