She mostly worked as a care-worker in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Germany where she lived for several years.     Diese Geschichte ist in Vergangenheits- und Gegenwartsform geschrieben, was etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist, aber die Charaktere sind gut entwickelt und sie vermittelt einen guten Eindruck von der Nachkriegszeit 1950-1960 in Neuseeland. Familienwechselfälle aus der Sicht der Hauptfigur Ellie, die in Neuseeland aufwächst und über die Geheimnisse ihrer Mutter im Dunkeln bleibt. Erst als sie in ihre Heimat Niederlande reist, erfährt sie Dinge, die ihre Welt auf den Kopf stellen... Eine Geschichte über Familienbeziehungen, Liebe und Verlust und die Suche nach der eigenen Identität.
