4.6 out of 5 stars 1,376 ratings

He's a cowboy with a sheriff's badge. And the last man she wants as a Protector.

Investigative reporter Genevieve Blake rolls into Hart County, Colorado on a mission. She's determined to expose the local sheriff as corrupt. The last thing she needs is a distraction—especially in the form of a handsome stranger at the hotel bar. But when he smiles, she can't look away.

Owen Douglas has devoted his life to service, first as a Marine and now as sheriff. But his ideals don't keep him warm at night. The moment he sees the gorgeous woman sitting at the next stool, he wants her. He has no idea she's the reporter trying to take down him and his friends... Until the realization leaves them both reeling.

When Genevieve witnesses a murder that same night, it's suddenly Owen's job to protect her. Whether either of them likes it or not. As Owen keeps Genevieve from becoming the killer's next victim, she starts to realize the sheriff is a better man than she ever imagined. And that true love can find you at the moment you least suspect.

But together, they'll uncover the greatest threat the Protectors have faced yet.

Such a terrific story with everything I want. Story is filled with suspense, twists, intrigue, many nasty villains, violence and so much more. Great main and secondary characters.

This is book 3 of the series and has crossover characters. You would get more out of it if you started at the beginning. Can get a standalone though. You still don’t know who the main bad guy is, but no cliffhanger for our MC.

I enjoyed the journey of these two to their bumpy road to HEA. Lovemaking outside of marriage heat level 4 out of 5 for main story. If you want bonus material, need to download that for free. Heat level on bonus is story 5 out of 5. This couple worked and I enjoyed their honest dialogue.

No cheating, romantic, a few crude words used, and a thrilling suspenseful story, that I recommend. I can’t improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase (ljb)

This was another good story with a lot of intrigue. The lead in to the next story was great. The romance development was nicely done and added to the story, but wasn’t the focus, which I truly appreciated. I have already downloaded the next book!!!

Life has been “lifing” pretty hard lately, so I didn’t read this one as fast as the other two. But. I was still intrigued by the mystery and the story.

Wow. Home Town Knight is a complex, riveting suspense romance. It is an excellent read despite the villains only being exposed in this book.

I love this author’s books! They are always entertaining, humorous with lots of passion. The banter between the H and h is so much fun. This series of hometown heroes is phenomenal. By the time the reader gets to the end of the book they will be on the edge of their seat. Fantastic, thrilling, must-read book.
Genevieve Blake is an investigative reporter out to find the corrupt politician in Hartley. She thinks it is Sheriff Owen Douglas because many in his family are currently in prison for unscrupulous events. When they meet anonymously at a bar the night before their big interview, sparks fly until everything fizzles in the bedroom scene when they both realize who the other person is! Her worst enemy begrudgingly becomes her protector after she witnesses a crime. And, that is just the beginning of the story. If you like intrigue with thrilling moments when you read romance, you will love this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through BookSirens. This book will introduce a story arc which I hope to see come to fruition in a future book. Loved the cover too.

Hitmen and Conspiracy drive this romance as who else but, a cowboy-sheriff and a city reporter to get the job done cracking this…Reads smoothly with just the right amount of sexual tension. Good back ground characters and hero. I like the entire series very much.
    Fast read.

    ## Loved, loved this book. Usually I don't care for stories involving reporters because they don't seem to care who they hurt to get their story. However, I took a chance on this and am so glad I did. The heroine thinks the hero is on the take, but it becomes clear to her pretty quickly that she misjudged him. At first I didn't think I was going to like her (she said some awful things), but I ended up liking her very much. She is strong, and has integrity in spades. The chemistry between hero and heroine is hot, hot, hot. I love that Owen wasn't portrayed as a player. This was well written and I'll definitely be reading this again.

This is my favorite story in this series so far. There is romance, intrigue and false assumptions. Sheriff Owen is attracted to Jen and she to him but when they find out what each does for a living they become instant enemies. Meanwhile, there are murders, missing evidence and people who can’t be trusted.
