Growing up, he was the kind of kid who collected rubber skeletons and lived for horror movies. Not much has changed since then.
His best known books include the gory and romantic fairy tale The Haar, the blood-drenched folk-horror Maggie’s Grave, and the analog-horror fever dream Rotten Tommy. David also writes under the pseudonym Carl John Lee, publishing splatterpunk
novels such as Psychic Teenage Bloodbath and Cannibal Vengeance.
RJ Roles grew up in the mountains of West Virginia. His love for horror and all things macabre was instilled in him at a young age, as was reading when he discovered the Goosebumps series. He currently works as a private security guard when he’s not trying to peck out stories on the computer. He spends the majority of his time at home with his wife Jessica and their spoiled-rotten cats.
Nick Roberts is a native West Virginian and a doctoral graduate of Marshall University. He is an active member of the Horror Writers Association and the Horror Authors Guild. Veronica Smith is a lover of all things horror. Whether she’s reading, writing, or watching; that’s what you will find her doing when she isn’t at her day job. She treats every day as if it was Halloween and hasn’t yet been fired for decorating her office as if it’s a haunted house. She’s been writing since 2014, when her first short story was published, and works on several projects simultaneously. She lives in Katy with her husband of over thirty years.

Christina Bergling has been writing since childhood. She has written a variety of styles. A blog from Iraq, software user guides, articles for a numismatist magazine. More than anything, she is a horror author.

She co-wrote Screechers with Kevin J. Kennedy. Eric Butler was born in 1975 to a military family in Germany. He spent the majority of his formative years bouncing around Europe, the United States, and Central America before settling down in Texas. He is a fan of the horror genre but enjoys reading all kinds of fiction. He plans on mixing many of his favorite genres together in future works. He lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas with his wife, son, and a stable of dogs and cats. He publishes under the Naked Cat Press brand, inspired by his sphynx Isis.
John Durgin is a proud active HWA member and lifelong horror fan who decided to chase his childhood dream of becoming a horror author. Growing up in New Hampshire, he discovered Stephen King much younger than most probably should have, reading IT before he reached high school—and knew from that moment on he wanted to write horror. He co-founded Livid Comics in late 2020, co-creating and writing his debut comic titled Jol (pronounced Yule), a Christmas horror series for all ages. After publishing that, the itch to expand his writing was one he had to scratch. Through Livid, he wrote his second comic which was released in the spring of 2022 titled Dead Ball. In 2021 he started submitting short stories in hopes of getting noticed in the horror community and launching a career. He had his first story accepted in the summer of 2021 in the Books of Horror anthology, and an alternate version of the story in the Beach Bodies anthology from DarkLit Press. His debut novel, The Cursed Among Us released June 3, 2022, to stellar reviews. Next up, his sophomore novel titled Inside The Devil’s Nest, released through D&T Publishing in January of 2023, followed by his debut collection, Sleeping In The Fire in June of 2023. In 2024 he is set to have two more novels and a novella release through DarkLit Press and Crystal Lake Publishing.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2023The stories were scary enough. The plots were intense and the characters believable. However, I wouldn't recommend this collection to anyone who doesn't routinely use foul language. It's quite unnecessary to the story telling.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2023My goodness! I am out of breath. I have really enjoyed this book. The individual stories are well written and I could easily "see" the characters and the action. Thanks for giving me a few hours of fun and terror.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2023This was my first time reading any of The Horror Collection books by KJK Publishing. There is an incredible line-up of authors here. Some I’ve read before and many that are new to me. I think there is something in here for pretty much any horror lover. Many different writing styles and subject matter that will entertain you. I’ve highlighted a few of my favorites below.
The Oak by Steve Stred
Dan is bullied and can no longer deal with it. He gains the help of The Oak to teach his bullies a lesson. Such a heartbreaking story with a shocking ending.
The House on Royal Street by Tom Deady
Charles and his daughter Fiona suffered a terrible loss. Now Charles is remodeling a house with some interesting history. He was hoping to surprise Fiona with the house but instead it surprised them both. Great chilling tale. I loved the dark creepy vibes.
The Last Meal by Veronica Smith
Gary is serving time on death row and about to enjoy his final meal. Execution time is drawing near, and Gary’s final hours will be worse than he ever imagined. Such a brutal story!
Christine and Tracey by Matty-Bob Cash
Robert has some questionable neighbors always making rude remarks about his autistic son. I thought this made them awful people, but things get so much worse when Christine and Tracey perform a certain ritual. My mind was blown! I’d love to read more from this author.
Letters to Santa by John Durgin
Chris grew up poor with an abusive dad. Like every other year, there would be nothing under the Christmas tree for him. For once, he decided to ask Santa for a few things. When his requests are answered, everything changes for Chris. This was a great revenge story.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2023Short stories are just the best. If you don't have much time to set and read a whole book, at least you can enjoy a quick short scary story, then off to your next project.

Well I won't be buying any more of the series!

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money.
If you like mystery stories where you know how it will end half-way through the story, then buy this book. A book for the modern age - no long words. It seems the art of writing excellent horror stories like M. R. James has passed.
