Mark Restaino is a full time youth minister and lives in the Chicagoland area with his wife and two daughters.

He got the idea for his first story while on a retreat with his youth group students. His other stories also seem to come to him in the quiet moments as he reflects on his life and relationship with Christ.

He is personally drawn to the symbolism and foreshadowing that God weaves throughout the Bible and believes they serve as beautiful defenses in apologetics.

In reflection of his creator, he strives to write stories that capture readers' hearts and minds while symbolically sharing the faith and gospel message.

He prays that his stories kindle the fire of the Holy Spirit within you, your family, and your church community.

A simple, yet beautifully portrayed tale of a father's deep love for his children. I love how this story uses illustrations matching the words of 'How Deep The Father's Love ' to depict the great love of God for all His children, and the sacrifice which Jesus made upon the Cross that everyone may know His Father’s Love. A lovely way to share the Gospel with children, especially during this Easter Season. Read as a free download from the author but this is my honest and voluntary review.

Mostly it was a cute kids book. I personally could not read it without it being a song in my head. In one way I really liked it, but in another way it was too much “allegory” for me. I think most families would really enjoy it and I urge you to try it for yourselves!

I think it would be better to put the list of symbols at the front of the book so readers will understand the story as they read it. I kept thinking to myself, "This sounds like a song we sing at church." Then I saw the apparently drowned son in the boat and wondered what in the world that had to do with the church song. I didn't really get it until I saw the symbols listed at the END of the story.

Well illustrated this is a good story once you understand what it means. It WAS strange that the dead child was suddenly half way sitting up. That just made me think he hadn't drowned after all. So, yeah, the explanation page definitely needs to come BEFORE the story.

If you just look at the pictures in this book, it's actually quite powerful and well done, although a bit heart-wrenching until you know the Dad saves his son from drowning...

The text is from a religious song which I am not familiar with so it didn't quite make sense with the pictures. Perhaps if you know the song, the book would make better sense.

As I understand, the story is based on a song and what you have in the book are the lyrics of the song that contain a story about Jesus and His sacrifice for mankind. The illustration portray a father saving his sun. The story has a happy ending.
This book will work best for parents who know the song and can teach their children to sing along while looking at the illustrations.

It was nice to read about Heavenly Father and have it related to a story through amazing illustrations. The book is beautiful and provides an opportunity for parents to share with children the gospel. The language is age appropriate. Even the clouds in the sky were symbolic. What a great gift to give you children.

I received this book for free from Booksprout and have voluntarily left a review.

I did like this book because i know the song. However if you are not a Christian the words may seem strange going alongside pictures like that.

This book is a beautifully illustrated way to share the Gospel with children. Yes it’s got intense moments, but it presents a great opportunity for discussion of just how much Father God loves us.
