How to Train Your Alpha (Bangers & Mash Book 1) Kindle Edition
Jesse
I wasn’t looking forward to wasting a weekend at the Bangers & Mash compound, sitting through Emergency Support Alpha training when I had no interest in actually becoming an ESA, but from the moment the course instructor, Phillip Mash, walked into the room, my alpha senses went nuts.
Who in their right mind would have an omega about to go into heat teach a class full of alphas?
Phillip
I wasn’t born yesterday. I’d taught the Heat Support class dozens of times. And I had time before my heat started. Or so I thought. But then Jesse Armstrong had to walk through the door and set me off. I thought I could keep it together, but when the two of us were trapped just as Nature took over and turned me into a whimpering pile of slick, I had no choice but to give Jesse a hands-on crash course in taking an omega through heat.
How am I supposed to teach a total newbie how to satisfy me effectively when I’m out of my mind with need?
How to Train Your Alpha is the first book in the Bangers & Mash series. It’s a great start for total newbies to the omegaverse genre, and a fun introduction to a different twist on familiar tropes. However, PLEASE NOTE – No omegas are impregnated in the course of this story, although it does happen in this universe Also, there is no shifting in this world.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2024This was a great start to the series! Just the right amount of background to draw you into the series. The right amount of heat(pun intended) and emotions to make you love the characters. I look forward to the next book in the series!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2022I loved this little book so much!
Although I'm not new to omegaverse, I am new to this author.
The way she handled this story was quite superb. It was really fascinating to read about all the ins and outs of the omega heat phenomenon from a clinical and biological point of view.
I'd say, that although this book is predominantly a play by play of one single sexual encounter, the author has captured perfectly every nuance. The emotional, the passionate and the physical.
The intimacy is what the book is about from start to finish and quite honestly, I almost read this in one sitting and would have finished it if I hadn't started it really late in the evening. That being said, this book was quite unputdownable. I actually resented having to break to go to sleep. Lol.
(now I'm resenting the fact that I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can start the next in series).
Well done indeed Ms Farmer!
Highly recommended!
Heat level: 5 🔥
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2023Read a bit out of order...This is the third book in the series that I read. It was ok compared to the other books I read.
It was nice to see a setting outside of the ESA call, it definitely gave a new meaning to hands on experience. Jesse and Phillip’s have a chance encounter in class. They definitely connected but I felt like I needed a bit more. The story went really fast when I was hoping for a time to get to see them connect more outside the heat.
Overall not bad and definitely spicy. I'll still be checking out the rest of the series
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2024Sets up the Bangers and Mash A/B/O universe, similar to Teacher by Roe Horvat (the heat teacher book). I’m intrigued by the series being centered around a heat service program. Kinda curious about some of these characters. On to book 2.
Spice: 5/5
Angst: 1/5
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2025Is it love at first sight or something else!?
This book is packed full of longing looks, heated conversations and steamy scenes. Lots to look forward to if you enjoy a fiesty male lead who isn't afraid to put you in your place or throw out bold suggestions. If you love a low-angst, high steam, student/teacher and fated mates tropes, this is for you. It will leave you wanting to read more in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2022I never know what I will get with a new to me author.
This story had a great twist on mm omegaverse. I love the concept of this training program. Clash of the designations both Phillip and Jesse fight their desires until heat takes it to the next level. Then they struggle with the traditional post sex communication issues. It was a fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2022Loved this story it was short and such a cool telling on a genre I enjoy. I always enjoy when a short book still has a story and this one definitely does. I’m excited to get into the series more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense in a good way & fun. Still laughing…
I loved this book. So much fun. I laughed and exclaimed my way through it. It’s a light-hearted take on omega heats and yes, some of the scenes were intense, and there was some snarkiness which I found pretty hilarious too. All in all, a good read, and one that left me smiling.

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't be able to stop with just one
I was new to the omegaverse. Never heard of it before. This was the perfect introduction. I loved the characters, found the whole story gripping and I found I needed more - so I have now read the rest of the series and pre-ordered the next one. The combination of humour, well rounded characters and the variety of situations makes the whole series addictive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Omgeaverse
This was a really cute a sweet omegaverse book with low angst and a HEA. If you are looking with something with a bit of ‘heat’ in more ways than one that’s got a cute storyline then try this out.I'm a sucker for a trapped in a cabin only they can help scenario. It’s a little predictable but in the best way, I enjoyed it a lot and will be reading the rest.
