Hurt Me Not : An MM Urban Fantasy Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 407 ratings

As a lieutenant at the Fool’s Pass Fire Department and a single father, Easton Kooper’s life revolves around his children. When he receives an urgent call from his son’s doctor, it upends Easton’s world. Suddenly, barreling into a burning building sounds like a piece of cake. With no idea of what to do or where to turn, he’s never felt more lost. And then in walks the answer he didn’t know he needed: a gorgeous fae with an angelic smile, bearing grand promises to turn the Kooper family’s life right side up again.

Finch knows the rules: don’t fall in love with a human. That’s always been simple enough to follow—at least until the Kooper family. Despite his best efforts, Finch grows attached to Easton and his children…attached enough that he’s tempted to turn his back on the fae and their laws completely.

Before long, the pair must brace themselves as both their worlds seek to destroy them. When the darkness crashes down, it’ll take every ounce of defiance and magic Finch has to keep the Koopers safe. Faced with immovable magic and unspeakable danger, is there really any way Finch and Easton’s love can prevail?
Fighting it is hopeless, but embracing it could mean ruin for them all.

Hurt Me Not is a standalone MM urban fantasy. Guaranteed HEA. No cliffhanger.

I love this story so much. Finch has a heart of gold, and from the moment he laid his hand on a scared young boy named Milo, and told him he would take the pain away with the words “hurt me not,” I was in love. The world Davidson King built in this story feels so different than other stories where supernatural beings integrate into human lives. I think the difference is that even though Finch is Fae, he doesn’t just come in and “fix” everything. It’s a real story, with real problems that aren’t just wished or magic’d away. Finch being a compassionate and caring nurse, especially with children and the elderly, is one of the things I loved most about him. And his very human reaction to Milo’s father, Easton, is romantic and heated. Finch loves with his whole heart and protects fiercely. He doesn’t just fall for Easton, he falls for the whole family, which is forbidden. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and Finch and Easton fight for their love. One of the trigger warnings in this story is childhood illness, and normally that may have prevented me from reading the story, but Davidson King is one of my favorite authors, so I had to read Finch and Easton’s story. I’m so glad I did. Davidson King is an exceptional writer and the story left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Another sign of a great writer is having compelling side characters that leave you wanting their stories too. I would love more of Finch and Easton, but I would also love stories of Finch’s siblings. The women in the story are awesome too, with Finch’s mother and her first in command being fierce women who are fiercely protective of Finch and all he loves. I highly recommend everyone read Finch & Easton’s story!

I liked this best for the twist on Fae, but I absolutely won't discount the sweet blooming love between Finch and Easton.

This author never takes a troupe without turning it into something unique and special. The MCs relationships with each other and the children was highlighted beautifully. Wouldn’t be mad if there were a second book (hint).

I usually avoid King's books. While I have loved a few, I am not into SM type things so most of her books don't pull me. Please understand, there is nothing wrong with her books and if that is something you like then I highly recommend her stories. They are really well written.

This book was nothing like the others and I loved her take on the fae and this world. Once again her writing was stellar and highly enjoyable. I truly hope there will be more in this series as I would love to see match ups with some of the other side characters.

Take a chance and discover a new world to take you away to all the feels and adventure. It's so worth it!

This book is emotional, beautiful and magical all rolled into one. With a little action thrown in and a lot of love all around. It also centers on Finch and Easton falling in love by bonding over a child due to illness. Please read the authors note at the beginning to understand why this little boy is so important and how this author has really put herself out there as a way of telling us her own experiences and bringing awareness to this disease while also telling us a wonderful love story with it.

There are few authors that I could as automatic reads and Davidson King has become one of this authors for me. Her stories are always heartfelt and intriguing. Her characters pull you into their world with welcoming arms, whether you want to be there or not.

This was an emotional roller caster. You are barely meeting the characters when Easton gets heartbreaking news about his son, and the story truly begins. Easton is a singe father and slowly begins to relay on Finch, his son’s nurse. Easton and Finch have to navigate their roles separately and together to make any relationship work.

    A definite must read.

This book came as a recommendation and I absolutely loved it! Finch and Easton and his sweet kids sucked me in from the beginning and didn't let go until I finished their journey. There are some difficult topics within this book but they didn't take away from the love that was built. I would definitely recommend this book.

I love almost all of this author’s books and this is no exception. It’s the first one I read that’s a fantasy story and it really show how talented she is. We got the love story, we got the action scenes, the character development, the hot sex, and the awesome writing that is always there in her books, but now with the extra layer of fantasy and magic. I loved it! I wish it was a series. I would love to read the story of Finch’s dark brother.

I hadn’t read an urban fantasy for several years now, but this was just so good, sweet and quite compelling. I loved the characters, Finch and Easton have a beautiful connection through Easton’s son which brings everything in this story together. Magic is everywhere we just have to take off our blinkers to see and feel it.

The author moved away from her usual genre to explore the world of fantasy. I am so happy she did as I enjoyed this book so very much. I absolutely fell in love with Easton and Finch and look forward to more adventures with them. Thank you Davidson King for taking a chance.
