- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2017I really enjoyed this quick read. I was impressed with the originality and the crispness of the writing. Although somewhat predictable, esp. after the first rose is drawn, it remained entertaining, and I look forward to seeing the movie. These women are bound together by their one friend, and one is all you need when you happen to be in need. The only thing that wanted me wanting more was to learn the mysticism of the Drawer of Roses.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2020I LOVED this unusual and very cinematic novel! Reading it was like being immersed in a beautiful dream. It’s elements come together in a mosaic of sight, sensuality and sound. I was intrigued by the wonderful female characters (all so different), the male characters, especially the drawer of roses, the music, the art, the tango dance, the flowers, the international locations—a heady, magical blend. I was amazed at how all the women’s stories connected and played out. This is a book I know I’ll be reading again. I think it will make a fantastic film, too!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2014I enjoyed this book. It was a different, magical but realistic story in our era. A touch of spirituality makes it quite a special read.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2014The premise of this novella is a bit silly. These six women whose lives are somewhat miserable only know how to handle things when the "rose drawer" completes a rose drawn for each woman. It's an easy read but it was very predictable and a complete let down for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2022I had no idea what to expect and unexpectedly found myself drawn into the images, scents and sounds of six women. Through music, aroma and paintings, the author seamlessly threads the lives of six friends into a floral tapestry that delights and sensuously teases until the last page. Lovely, delicate and tender.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2015We are at a time in history when women should be empowered. They need to see themselves as equal to men.
This story takes us back about 20 years. I was going to give it to my daughter to read, but I won’t now after reading it.
The women in the story can’t figure out how to fix their lives. No, it takes a man to draw a rose and magically their problems are solved.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2015A romantic fantasy reminiscent of the books of Robert Nathan and Paul Gallico. This story deals with six diverse women in more or less crises mode who met in London at a party and then scattered around the world but remained mystically connected by an artist who draws roses. This novel is charmingly well written, evoking mood and even imagined music. It is an intriguing read!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2014I had intended to read a couple of chapters at a time ....... but couldn't stop ......... so read it all in one go! From a, currently very soggy(!) England, I was transported away to wonderful countries around the world and I desperately wanted to find out how each character's life would turn out. I wasn't disappointed! What a lovely story - and it would make a great film (Hollywood - take note!!)

4.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner!
I loved this read! In fact the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is because I could have read much more about every woman in the story, each of whom is in fact, a story in her own right! But this was written as a screenplay first and I can see it totally on the big screen as the theme is so wholly unusual as well as being truly magical. It is a page turner in the real sense - that you never know what is going to happen next, unlike many more predictable books.
The drawer of roses is the thread running through the whole story and highlights the cosmic connection between the women in the book, who live in worlds apart, yet are intrinsically and spiritually connected in the deepest sense. And each woman draws us into her own story
I can't wait for the film!

5.0 out of 5 stars An imaginative and thought provoking read
It's been difficult to write a review for this imaginative book as I am related to the author and I don't want to appear to be gushing in the route of nepotism. Nevertheless it has to be a case of credit where credit is due and I would recommend this book to anyone who revels in the mystical and whimsical.....wouldn't we all love to imagine how another 'sees' us without actually knowing our inner thoughts and visions... this will make an excellent film and I antcipate it's release with great delight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastical!
What a fabulous read! Wanted more! It's descriptive and vivid, but I wanted to find out more about the women. They are pivotal to the story and me being greedy, just wanted more information about their lives and them as people. However, I understand it's to be a film and can't wait to see this translated to the big screen! A truly recommended read to lift your spirits and makes you want to have your own drawer of roses!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story of friendship and transformation!
The book intertwines the stories of six different women living in various parts of the world. I loved how effortlessly the author brought all these women and their relationships (as well as their connections to each other) to life, slowly transforming each of their lives for the better. It's a beautiful story of friendship and following our heart's desire in life.
