    The mystery of Rebecca's fate is finally unraveling. There is much more unraveling though than the mystery. Mark Compton is coming apart at the seams. Being in control has been the only way he could ensure his survival when dealing with the world. Now as events keep piling on stress, his control is nowhere to be found.

    Wow! I have read this series from the beginning and have been a fan of the author. You talk about having it all... mystery, romance, suspense, deaths, BDSM, and a thrilling prose that keeps you at the edge of your seats. I am beyond words regarding how much I LOVE this series.

    We are now nearing the end and all those loose ends will all be tied up in a neat little bows. Rebecca has been the biggest mystery of all. She reminds me of another Rebecca made famous by Daphne Du Marier many years ago... is there something about the name Rebecca? Just like in the classical book, we are in hot pursuit of a killer and the motive. So many times the plot has twisted and what appeared to be a given became a coincidence or contributing factor but not the main reason.

    For those of you who have not started reading this series I have to ask - WHY ? These books go fast because the writing is such a masterpiece. The plot will keep you edge and wanting more. This is one of those remarkable series you will forever remember and adore.

    While not necessary, it is recommended that you read Books 1-4 and the Novellas, Rebecca's Lost Journals, His Secrets, The Master Undone, and My Hunger prior to reading this Novella as it is a continuation of Mark and Crystal's story amidst the ongoing investigation into Rebecca's disappearance.
    Mark's world continues to crumble around him as he realizes his feelings for Rebecca and for Crystal. As a man who has to control everything and everyone around him he is not able to cope with the feelings that lay just beneath the surface of his mask. Feelings that he is not used to feeling and doesn't want to feel. But as the investigation drags on the mask is chipping and cracking faster and faster till it isn't just Crystal that sees the pain and loss in his eyes. Crystal,meanwhile, has her own issues to deal with and she knows that getting involved with Mark is a surefire way to a broken heart, however she can't stay away.
    Mark,seeing no other way of getting her out of his life before he hurts her like he did Rebecca sets into motion a plan to scare her off for good. It seems to work right up until then he acts without thinking and reveals his feelings for her. Still determined Mark devises a new plan for chasing Crystal away for good.
    I personally have a Love/Hate thing going with Mark. On the one hand he can be the biggest jerk on the planet then on the other he comes across as a wounded animal who needs someone to care for him for him though he will never admit it. He is dealing with a lot at this time in his life and anyone without his strict control would have fallen apart long before now. Sometimes he seems right on the edge of doing just that, falling, and refusing to get back up, but that is not Mark's personality.
    I simply LOVE the way Lisa Renee Jones has written his character and Crystal's and I can't wait to see what happens next!

    We are finally going to see what makes Mark Compton tick. I liked this short introduction to his story and his POV. Looking forward to seeing what happens with Crystal and what his background was like to make him who he is. He is slowly losing his control and I am eager to read on while he comes undone.
