I Thought of You Kindle Edition
I wanted to conquer the world.
She wanted to gaze at the stars.
It’s been twelve years since I last saw Scottie Rucker. A grim prognosis has upended my life, and no amount of my hard-earned money can fix it. So, after leaving a note on the nightstand, I search for my first love—I search for life.
When I find her in Austin, working at a quaint general store and living in an RV behind it, those twelve years vanish. She’s exactly how I remember her.
Scottie thinks our reunion is a small-world coincidence, and I’m not ready to tell her the truth. After we rekindle our friendship, she convinces me to work part-time at the store while she pursues her budding relationship with Koen, a welder and the grandson of a customer.
Scottie’s ability to live in the moment is exactly what I need. But how do I convince her new boyfriend that I’m not his competition? And what happens if my heart changes its mind?

- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2024Format: Audible AudiobookVerified PurchaseI have read or listened to all of Jewel E Ann’s books. I definitely have my favorites but without a doubt the stories in all of them are so good, definitely thought provoking and always tugging on an emotional string. This book, omg this book just about did me in. I can’t remember the last time I ugly cried as much as I did. JEA’s writing is realistic, fresh, funny but so much more. Really a gift for all of us as readers/listeners. I loved every chapter, line, minute of this story even the ones most soul crushing. I cannot recommend this book enough (except you most certainly will need a box of tissues to get thru) but don’t let that be a deterrent because the story continues and our hearts are held in reverent hands!
Narration made this story come alive. Avie Paige was amazing as Scottie and Jay Myers was truly spectacular as both Price and Koen. Both narrators provided all their characters with unique voices and gave so much to the emotional ranges expressed in the book. Bravo for making a spectacular book even more compelling.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI am happy this was my first read of Jewel Ann's work! This story had me turning the pages - the plot, the characters, and the pace were excellent. I am going to read much more of Jewel's work now.
The story revolves around Price and Scottie, who met and fell in love twelve years ago. Their paths diverged at the end of that summer, leading them to part ways. Despite the distance, their thoughts often wandered back to each other, a testament to the depth of their connection.
Scottie moves to a small town where she lives as she wants, taking each day and each moment in time as that. She made jewellery and believed in essential oils and nature. She is still single and has never pushed for a relationship with anyone since Price was the love of her life.
Price decides to visit Scottie, and while it seems very out of the blue. They both rekindle that close friendship. She is the light he somehow needs in his life at the moment. Even though Scottie is happy to have Price in her life again, she is introduced to Koen by one of her customers, and they are instantly attracted to each other. Scottie now has two loves to consider: her past love, Price, and what the future may hold in her new love, Koen.
This story will break your heart but also leave you a breath of fresh air. It is also very exciting the both Price and Koen are wonderful characters.
If I could rate this more than 5 stars, I would!!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Inspirational, Page-turner, Tear-jerker, Wonderful characters
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchasePrice Milloy is at a crossroads and goes in search of his first love, Scottie Rucker, who is exactly how he remembers her. I was excited at the premise of an angsty second chance romance with a potential love triangle. Scottie is so pure in her character, the way she is very transparent and living in the moment while wearing her heart on her sleeve. She isn't looking for much in life beyond personal satisfaction and accountability with the hope of love. As much as I was all for this Price and Scottie reunion, I adored Koen and he seemed to get Scottie in a way that could not be ignored.
Jewel likes to lull the reader into a sense of complacency with her witty dialogue and banter that is unrivaled as entertainment and addicting, always wanting more of these character interactions. Yet there are always hidden surprises in the proverbial plot sleeve. It wasn't hard to figure out Price's motive for re-entering Scottie's life, but I still had him misjudged. What happens from this point is not going to be spoiled, but suffice to say there's a hard emotional meteorite thrown in that cues all the feels and heartbreak and a sense of despondency regarding the possibility of the the story not ending the way the reader is rooting for.
Price is a bit of a dichotomy when it comes to sacrifice and self-preservation. He manages to do both. As for Scottie, she stays true to herself and I loved her big and unselfish heart. I know the author wants this to be the kind of book that is discussed in a book club and I would agree there are several interesting angles and talking points that most people can relate to because nearly everyone has been impacted in one way or another by one of the focal issues. Since it feels like there are actually 2 stories in this book, it didn't have quite enough page time for each of the main characters to feel as deeply connected to them as in some of her other books, but the writing will still reel the reader in regardless. I am impressed that Jewel E Ann still continues to surprise me and throw in unexpected twists so many books later and appreciate the thought provoking topics, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pinball
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story played pinball with my heart. It made me think, feel, hurt, and ultimately trust. I don’t want to say any more. It’s a journey. And it’s one better taken without knowing what’s coming. Just as in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A whole lot of everything
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat a heartbreaking, tear inducing drama!!!
It hurt to read thus story, yet I was moved beyond comprehension. Jewel E Ann always writes stories that are bravely thought provoking. Stories where the characters are so different to any others ever read about. Their beliefs and morals so complex, yet so enviable. The world is seen through different eyes when I was getting to know Scottie, Price and Koen. I adored everything about Scottie. She was the total opposite of the usual character, and the honest and all embracing way she journeyed through life was so simplistic in its honesty and beauty. Every day and experience was looked on as a way to learn and grow. Such positive energy, it made it impossible to put this story down. It lade me think about life and the various other ways you can look at it and approach out of the ordinary situations.
This story will wreck you. But in such a completely intoxicating way. It will profoundly affect you and have you experiencing every emotion at a significantly higher level. The content will spellbind you beyond words. It will change your reading experience for the better. I Thought of You is a powerful story that will embed itself in your eternal memories. It's a story you will never forget and will leave you breathless and desperate for another unique and bittersweet tale of friendship and love, endurance, tragedy, forgiveness, and everything in between. This story is literally everything. All of it. The whole lot of everything. 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMy heart desperately wants to be happy right now but I’m trying to figure out how much more tears 3 pieces of tissues can hold.
To say this story hit me something fierce is an understatement… this story was a thought-provoking and life-changing experience and if ever there was an author who knew the way to the depths of my soul it would be Jewel E Ann— her words and stories just hit different to all else.
I Thought of You is a mixed bag of emotions in only the way that JEA can deliver. I laughed out loud, rolled my eyes, smiled until my face hurt, and balled my eyes out until I ran out of tissues (cue the impending sinus headache). My heart hurts but it’s a good kind of hurt… ask me what my favourite JEA book is, I don’t have an answer anymore because at this rate I’m past having a top-five favourite!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseTo be honest I am barely able to find the right words for this book without spoiler… the topic is heavy and the story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I could hardly put the book down…. I fell in love with Price even though I had a hard time understanding him sometimes. This book for sure gives you something to think about. It’s my first book by this author but I don’t think it’s the last…..
