I Thought It Was You Kindle Edition
When Liv Turner takes a cruise to get away from a bad break-up, all she wants to do is hide from the world for a while—and maybe hang out with her brother who works in the ship’s casino. But soon after boarding, three things happen in quick succession:
1. Liv meets Wells, a gorgeous charity worker on his way to Cozumel.
2. She discovers that her ex has completely drained her bank account.
3. TV celebrity Jamila Castro begs Liv to take on the role of her rehab nurse to stop a vengeful ex co-star from ruining her career.
With Liv broke, and a twenty-thousand dollar incentive to help Jamila out, she reluctantly agrees to a week of pretending to be Nina from Louisiana. The only catch? She isn’t allowed to talk to Wells again. But that becomes difficult when he keeps showing up all over the ship and proving himself to be the perfect guy.
To make matters more complicated, Liv’s brother had booked her trip through a singles group, where it is a requirement to participate in their activities—as herself.
Will Liv be able to avoid having her cover blown and stop Jamila from being exposed in the media? And will she be able to put Wells out of her mind?
Anything can happen on the Shakespeare Adriana, but smooth sailing isn’t always one of them.

I have read a few other books by Ms. McManus and have enjoyed them all - I will not hesitate to read more by this author.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2019Olivia "Liv" Turner decides to drown some heartbreak in a bottle of wine 🍷and books herself a trip on the cruise her brother works. This trip was meant to help her regroup and relax while enjoying time exploring the Caribbean but it becomes so much more! The characters are fun, interesting and entertaining as the storyline unfolds. This is a great book for a vacation read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2019This was alright.... Wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be a sweet romance but this was barely a romance. Had more to do with celebrity drama.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2023Having recently broken up with her boyfriend, Liv Turner decides to go on a cruise (courtesy of her brother who works in the casino) to relax and mend her broken heart. Shortly after she boards the ship she learns that her ex emptied her bank account and she’s on a singles cruise. Add to the mix a handsome stranger and a famous celebrity who is willing to pay her $20,000 for her help in deceiving her rival and the cruise just became livelier and confusing.
This was such a fun, light hearted and enjoyable read. I found the characters wonderful and likable. The character development and growth throughout the story made it hard to put the book down. The story keeps you engaged with every twist and turn. Overall I highly recommend reading this story. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from her.
Thank you Bloodhound Books for this ARC!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2019It is about picking up the pieces after you were done wrong by your man. Olivia, Jamila, and Zara are at cross purposes. The love boat does strike. Not the singles part of the cruise but Olivia meets Mr. Right just waiting for her brother. Jamila is a TV star and Zara was tossed off a TV show because of her man. At the end, it is Olivia that puts the hammer down on all the foolishness. Never under estimate the deviousness of two TV stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2023This book was a sweet rom-com with a few unexpected twists to keep things interesting. While parts were somewhat unbelievable and cheesy (as with most rom-coms!) it kept my attention and left me wanting to find out what happens! I finished this book in one day, as I needed to know how things turned out for Olivia. A great beach/pool read!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Thought It Was You
What a tangled web we weave! I absolutely love the way Kirsty tells a story, this one had me shaking my head waiting for it all to implode. An excellent ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic Romcom from Kirsty McManus
After loving My Own Personal Rockstar I dived into this from Kirsty McManus.
Liv goes through a messy break-up and listens to her brother advising her to book a singles cruise. Her brother works in the casino on the cruise ship, so she thinks it’s great to spend time with him and distract herself away from the pain of her relationship ending.
On the cruise Liv encounters tv-celebrity Jamila and she is given an opportunity to make some money. The book is a romance but it also explores Liv trying to be someone she’s not and how much she will deprioritise her own happiness.
It is witty, fun and a great way to escape the dreary UK weather.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and page turning
This novel had me hooked from the start. Kirsty MacManus created wonderful characters and they beautifully develope as the story progress.
This is a enjoyable rom-com with lots of drama (nothing to deep) and minimal angst. It's a story of Olivia Turner who decide to go on cruise adventure after a bad breakup. The series of events followed after that made the story enjoying.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read
I Thought It Was You is the fourth book in the Oceanic Dreams series. Each book is written by a different author and follows the adventures of different passengers and crew aboard the Oceanic Aphrodite. This time we follow Olivia who has booked on the singles cruise thanks to her brother Patrick working onboard in the Casino. She sees it as an escape from her ex-boyfriend who has managed to empty her savings account after they split. Finding herself suddenly drawn into the dramas of a daytime soap actress who has escaped her rehab and is trying to remain incognito you just know that nothing is going to be plain sailing.
Olivia (or Liv) as she liked to be called really had her work cut out for her, remembering her cover story as the hired help, and trying to be herself when she started falling for a fellow passenger. You quickly understand why she is willing to pretend to be someone she is not and in doing so puts her own happiness on the line. Despite this she is determined to follow through with her promise and even has a bit of fun along the way.
Kirsty McManus has created fun characters that you can’t help liking even when some of them are causing trouble, which isn’t always easy when you don’t have a full-length book to establish them over. I quite often found myself smiling at some of the situations they found themselves in. The story will keep you interested and has enough pace for you not to get bored. I will admit that I am loving this series as although each book is set on the same cruise visiting the same ports you get to experience a different perspective each time giving it a fresh feel. Each book can be read alone but would heartily recommend that you work your way through all of them.
