From the Author

Over the years, many aspiring and new writers have reached out to me for publishing advice, and I happily doled out the information. One week during a stressful deadline, three different authors reached out. Exasperated, they had all drafted manuscripts but didn't know what to do next. That was the impetus for this book. I knew there was a void to fill beyond books that focused wholly on marketing or on a specific craft (like plot, dialogue, or writing fast.) This book does all of that and then some. Part craft. Part author journey. Part marketing. If you're a new or aspiring writer (or even an established author), I believe you'll garner several important tidbits while reading about my crazy, potholed journey to getting published. I'm mostly traditionally published but have also indie published a variety of genres--novels, children's books, this book, plus my pandemic project, a cookbook for charity. After writing fourteen books and receiving multiple national and international awards, I wanted to share my journey and help new authors achieve their dreams. I can't wait to hear which section you like the best. Happy reading and best of luck!

PERFECT beginners Guide to Writing & Publishing
I’m so happy to share my review about this book that’s intended for aspiring authors or one who’s just written a book! While I’m NOT an author or have any desire to publish anything, I can honestly say that I found this book to be quite interesting & feel that it DOES MAKE for a great guide for those who can use direction for the writerly process. What really impressed me regarding this book was the personal tone it was written in!! The author does an excellent job outlining the complete process of how to get started & offers an exceeding amount of information that could definitely help speed the process for publishing. I also loved gaining additional insight as to what an author goes through before that award winning book reaches a readers hands like my own! I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who needs information or guidance regarding writing a book . Her cover choice ALSO is spot on because it POPS & makes me want to read any or all burbs or tag lines related to the book! Great job Beth Carter ! FYI... I’ve read & reviewed this copy early in exchange for my honest option & ideas!

Great advice and very helpful information in this book for anyone who wants to be a writer. The author wrote it as if she and I were having a conversation. Beth Carter provides useful advice and personal stories about her journey to becoming a published author. While I had not thought of some of the items discussed in the book, such as creating a website and marketing, which make sense and are a little daunting, I found the book inspiring. I opened some manuscripts I had started, reread them, wrote some, and plan to continue with my writing. I even started writing about my mom’s experiences growing up in Germany during WW II, which I’ve been planning to do forever and had not done yet. While I received an advance copy of the book from the author, I purchased it in hard copy. I voluntarily read this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book has everything but the proverbial kitchen sink between its pages. And all the things are exactly what a new author, who has just finished writing their first book, needs to get started on the next part of the journey. Throughout the pages, the author weaves stories about her own junket to publication as she introduces topic after topic. The way she has written this book, it is not overwhelming but instead soothing to anyone looking for answers about publication.

A helpful little book for a new writer. Gave me plenty of affirmation that some of the things I was already doing were correct and positive, and gave me new ideas and advice in other areas I was curious about. Thank you Beth!

This book is very helpful. I've just started writing my 4th novel however I've certainly learned a few things after reading this and will definitely be putting them into practice. This book covers everything. I would encourage any new writer to read before they pen their first novel, likewise any experienced writer could still learn a lot from this helpful, entertaining and easy to read book.
