In Love: A Boys' Love Actors Romance Sequel (Boys' Love Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 77 ratings

This New Adult novel is the sequel to Boys' Love. Reading book one before book two is strongly suggested.

Rama considered himself to be straight. Until he fell for his male co-star in a Thai boys' love series.
It sounds like a TV romance, but for Rama Sathianthai, it's reality. The chemistry between the two young actors and their popularity as a couple has won them a second season of their series, which means they'll have to keep their budding relationship a secret. The bl industry frowns on gay actors, particularly those who want to date each other. But the couple is determined to make things work. Meanwhile, the upcoming wedding of his favorite cousin threatens to throw Rama into family drama due to his recent confession that his aunt molested him when he was an adolescent. With the cards stacked against them, Rama and Pravat worry that love might not be enough to keep them together.

This was the 2nd book in Rebecca James’s new “Boys Love” Series and it gives us the next step in the story of the relationship between Pravat, an experienced actor in the BL Industry and Rama, a newcomer. Paired up as a romantic couple in the first book Boy’s Love (free thru Prolific Works) this book provides us the opportunity to see how the couple gets through having to have a secret relationship while filming season two of the TV Series. I loved this book just as much as the first one. Pravat is so warm and loving when it comes to Rama and their relationship. Rama knows what he wants and is willing to work through the tough times to come out on the other side of things with Pravat by his side. These two are definitely “couple goals” for anyone to follow. I also was happy that we had a resolution to the trauma in Rama’s family life that was initiated in the first book. I especially enjoyed this book and series as a new fan of BL Dramas. It was great to really get a ‘behind the scenes” view of how these shows are really shot and what the actors have to deal with in their roles. This is not a 9 to 5 job for these men and it truly infiltrates all aspects of their lives. True admiration for those who travel this path. Can’t wait for more to come in the future!

As I was reading this book and the first one I was thinking that this would make a really good BL. Not sure who would be the main leads, but I would watch it.

This is the second part of a “fake tv relationship that is actually real” story, with protagonists who are actors in a bl drama. It’s not a particularly light-hearted story: instead it’s dramatic and emotional, with some themes that carry serious weight (it’s a good idea to heed the content warnings, and to start with the first book, if you haven’t already read it). The trauma of a past sexual assault, contemporary victim blaming, and the threat of a vindictive ex-costar are all part of the narrative. In addition, the industry Rama and Pravat work for can be extremely exploitative, strictly regulating actors’ lives to make sure that no one thinks that the people playing lgbtq+ roles could be anything but straight, as the mostly female fans are encouraged by the industry to fetishize the idea of straight actors pretending not to be. The author does a good job of illustrating the cost of the demands of this kind of job, making the support the protagonists find in each other all the more crucial. Their bond is, from the start, based in affection and honesty, and it’s their emotional connection that anchors their physical chemistry as well. Eventually, they find a way to work through all of their obstacles and build a happily-ever-after that works for them, and while I’d hoped that it might look a little different (and do more to shake up the conventions of their industry) overall I’m happy they’re happy.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I wish I could have read book 1, but unfortunately it wasn't available on Amazon. I'll definitely be watching for book 1 so I can see how Pravat and Rama's story began. I loved how the author tied in the Thai culture and the BL industry into the story. I feel that the story is complete enough though for anyone interested in reading book 2 on its own.

This book is the continuation of the story of Rama and Pravat. You shouldn’t read this one until you read the first one. It is a direct sequel as the two MCs try to figure out how to make their relationship work and still manage to do the job they both love. It was not an easy read. Not because of the book itself but because of the circumstances they find themselves in. Not being able to be honest and out in the open for fear of reprisals would be the worst kind of torture in my mind. I can’t imagine it. The circumstances are different for every instance of having to live in secret but that doesn’t make any of them any easier. I had a hard time reading this book because of that. It is a good book and the characters are amazing. It was just a little too angsty in that regard for me. I was probably not in the right headspace to fully enjoy it. But please do not hesitate to read this book if that is your thing. It is very well written and I did like the characters. I just found their work environment toxic in a way I would never be able to tolerate.

The characters were interesting with enough skinship to keep it lively. Their past traumas were expertly handled without being explicit. Both male leads were hotties and I had no problem visualizing them. As a fan of bl I am happy to see the genre available to a wider international audience. Would love to see another book with Baby "Spin" as the main lead.

This was a cute story but emotional too, and a nice continuation of Boy's Love. I didn't expect Chinda's POV but I liked it because she kind of represents the fan's thoughts/feelings. I'm glad I knew something of BLs before reading these since I was immediately immersed in the setting, although, I'm sure readers who don't watch BL would not be too confused over the BL and Thai culture portrayed in the book. I loved Rama and Pravat's relationship because they really needed each other and accepted each other.

This is the second book in The Boys’ Love Series. I would read the first book in this series to enjoy this book to its fullest. A wonderful fake/real relationship story that is written well. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters good. The characters were developed and thought out. Pravat and Rama are the MC’s of this book. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

This book does a great job at continuing from the first book while adding in new elements and challenges for the characters. In the end, it was very enjoyable, and I look forward to reading the third book.
