Editorial Reviews
Review
Like a lot of great science fiction, this book is an allegory for the world around us and wastes no time in exploring the subjects of faith and religious persecution. Mark Castleberry's writing will quickly resonate with a great many readers, shining a light on the experience of having to flee for your life because your faith offends the regime in which you live. These themes are explored in the beautiful world that the author has created, a stunning and creative universe that serves as the perfect backdrop to this story. The tale of Thermonte was expertly woven into the wider narrative to help expand the world of the story and create a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the threat the people of Sulia faced, aided in no small part by Thermonte's excellent characterization. Overall, Into Shadow's Fire is a worthy entry into the series and continues pushing the saga toward its powerful message.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2022I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book since I typically go for more hard-core science fiction, but I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were believable and the world building was adequate. I did find the writing style a bit annoying. While the story itself was good, the story telling had some issues. I don't need the word 'then' constantly used. I can assume for myself that the next line I read happens right after the previous sentence. I also would have liked to be shown more of what was happening instead of being told. For those reasons, I deducted one star. Overall, this is a good story, especially for those who are looking for faith based books outside of the norm.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2022I found this book interesting. Not quite what I expected but still good. It had decent pacing and characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2022This was a story I may not normally pick up, but I found it interesting. It is written in a style more similar to the Bible, than told like a traditional story. The sci-fi aspect made it fun, while the religious background and stories were obvious, they did not overtake the story. Into Shadow's Fire was highly imaginative. Religious fans of sci-fi, looking for a quick, to the point read, may enjoy this story.
I Like that Mark Castleberry is trying to teach something positive with his stories.
There were some concepts brought up though, that could make certain readers uncomfortable. I personally would prefer some showing, over all telling.
