Miss Georgina Townsend begged me to ruin her. After all, selfish plunder is what I excel at. How can I, Charles Montclare, second son of an Earl, renowned rake, possibly refuse this beautiful young heiress who's determined to thwart her family's unsavory plans for her future?

Of course, I should refuse. She's my friend's younger sister. But she's no longer that spirited young girl. Georgina is now a beautiful and fiery woman who, as always, is making me crazy.

Only this time, with desire. This time, with a fire to make her mine.

I'm certainly not the marrying kind, but I'm doing everything in my power to protect her. And after I steal a kiss, I'm doing everything to have her for myself. Suddenly both of us are caught in a web of lies, deceit, and scandal. And there's only one solution.

Will I ruin her?

I must.

My Kind of Poetry 😉

This book was like a beautiful and sensual melody that carried out my wounded soul and embraced me with love and light. The way this story started with so much intrigue, scandal and mystery, had my brain spinning. Characters connections, their history and relationships were relatable and fascinating to follow. I was intrigued by Oakleys and I thought their unconventional relationship rather incredible. The details on this book in regards to art in general was just delicacy to me. As an Art History major I was soaking in every detail and informations. I was grinning and there were times that when I closed my eyes I could feel touching those paintings, sculptures. Overall I feel like Cat Porter has peculiar talent of crafting such a story that bedazzles you as a reader and makes you swoon and sway either from shock or from overwhelming sensual tension. In another words just like those cobra musicians, with her flute she made me dance and sway and eagerly wait for more of her flute’s tune.

I loved book 1, so this was always going to be a hard act to follow. And it is good, but not a 5 star read for me. The couple are both good people, she's a bit cheeky, he's a flirt who no intention of more. The angst was OK, the baddie gets what's deserved but it felt too contrived. Still a good read with a nice couple who were really attracted at first, and not in love.

The story of Georgina Townsend and her brother's childhood friend, Charles Montclare was hinted at in the first book of the series, Wolfsgate. While Ironvine, their story, is a standalone, it shines even brighter for having read and savored the first installment. Cat Porter creates a highly visual experience of 18th century Europe. Strong willed and sharp minded Georgina is under intense pressure by her family to marry, and they have found a suitor to fit their own needs. Things don't always work out according to plan, and the ensuing scenarios are a mix of excitement, stress and suspense. I came to adore both Georgina and Charles as their storylines entwined, and I was fascinated that a more modern relationship could exist at a time in history when such independent thought and collaborative relationships were not the norm. Here's to the House of Ryvves and Ironvine.

Brilliant!

I definitely recommend this book! It was a great read, a page-turner for me. I can't wait for the next book!

This is a very exciting and dramatic story about men who get themselves into trouble when they can't keep their britches closed, smart, strong-willed, protective women who help the under-dogs, including themselves, who brilliantly work together to save their marriages and friendships.

This story also contains, romantic relationships, arrogant men who try to defeat others by one-upmanship, shocking twists and even a dramatic duel.

By the end of Book 1, Wolfsgate, I really felt strong dislike for Amanda and William. Both characters are cheaters and wish harm on others while trying to boost themselves. In this story, Amanda is spiteful, jealous and schemed to gain a better standing in the ton. I rooted so hard for Georgina and Charles. Without giving away the story, thank you, Cat Porter for how you dealt with these characters! I feel so much better!

I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest review.

Wow!

Spectacular! Starts shortly after Brandon and Justine's love story! This is very emotional, scary, and dramatic! This is not a light, frivolous Regency! Georgiana has just rejoined society and is ambushed by her grasping, self centered family ,told that her engagement to an older, widower is settled and marriage in a week. She rebels, rashly, with Charles's older brother, who must marry immediately, according to their father's will. Awful events, a duel, and 2 deaths happen within 48 hours! Charles proposes to her and they elope to thwart her family and society, to prevent her ruination in society's view. Very intricate plot addresses some unsolved issues from previous book. Ultimately, very satisfying reading experience!

“You wish me to make my mark on you? Take your innocence forever?”... “Dear Lord, you have a way of making it sound positively sordid yet infinitely delicious.”

FINALLY!!! After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, we have Charles and Georgina’s story. I’ve been impatiently waiting the second book in the Unraveled Destiny series…And trust me when I say…It. Does. Not. Disappoint!!! It has it all. Scandal…drama, intrigue, romance…and steam…yes…indeed…there’s quite a bit of steam. I loved everything about it. The plot…a real who done it. The characters…masterfully written and just as messy and petty as ever. The steam…just like I like it…SCORCHING! Look here y’all, there’s a room in this book…🥵 phew goodness.

Picking up a short time after where Wolfsgate ended, we find Georgina still unmarried, but just as beautiful and lovely as ever…but that’s okay because Georgie has never been in a rush to find a husband. Unfortunately, her scheming family has other plans for her and is set on marrying her off to a horrible man solely for their benefit. Pissed and unwilling to be used, Georgina takes matters into her own hands and decides that if she must wed…the choice should hers. So, with the help of Charles (her brother’s childhood friend), the two look for the perfect man for her to marry.

Unfortunately, best laid plans…and all that jazz…Georgie and Charles find themselves at the heart of a duel, a mysterious death, a love quadrangle (yes that’s a real thang)…a stolen heirloom and a whole bunch of other insane drama.

If you thought the first book was good…you’re going to love this one…and if you’ve not read book 1…I strongly suggest that you do. Can you read Ironvine as a standalone…sure…but why deprive yourself of an excellent first book and a cast of fabulous characters. Besides, you'll appreciate book two, it's characters and these two love story so much more!

More of a 3.5, given all the info dumped revelations (I mean, Hughes' murder, Amanda's death, Willian's death-good riddance to all these character, TBH, the star-crossed love affair of Charles' mother and Georgina's father-very R&J if you ask me) taking up those last hundred or so pages, but sans those, it's a solid four star. I loved how the atmosphere/settings were similar to Wolfsgate, but the way the romance progressed felt totally different/a perfect fit for these new leads. Charles and Georgina, like Brandon and Justine, were childhood friends, but unlike the latter couple, Charles was smitten from chapter one. I appreciated that he was always out to love/protect Georgina in any capacity (ex: when she was set to marry his dastardly older brother, Hugh, Charles arranged it so Georgina would maintain a hold on her dowry/never have to beg Hugh for an allowance). This novel still deals with toxic family situations (both leads are used as puppets for family gain-hell, Hugh straight up tells Charles to take his place is a duel and when Charles rightfully says "no", Hugh shoots him the back! WTF?! Meanwhile, our girl is foisted on a man whose daughter is younger than her), but these two are open/encourage each other's endeavors (Charles wanting Georgina to buy the art supplies denied her/replacing the ones her shrew of a mother burned in a fire-yeah, that happened-and the scene where he leans against the doorframe to her workspace, silently proud to watch her, well, work had me smiling).

Also, page 128-129 was a straight up homage to the church scene from The Graduate (1967), complete with "Georgina!" instead of "Elaine". I just... it got me. Sold me on this whole book.

This book has everything. Intrigue, scandalous behavior, twists and turns. I loved reading this book I can't wait to read more from this series.

I really enjoyed this

This was a beautifully written historical novel. Charles and Georgina stole my heart. This was told in such a great way. I didnt particularly like charles in book 1. So this was a pleasant surprise. I was always on edge and not sure what would happen next. I love when the hero is misunderstood.

I was so happy that Cat Porter decided to revisit this world.
Charles and Georgie were just what the doctor ordered to get over a little book slump.

While Ironvine is book 2 in this series it can be read as a complete standalone, although I was delighted she brought Brandon and Justine back. I'm tempted to go back and read their story again now! No cliffie in either book so they are easily read in any order.

I'm hoping that #2 designation means this author has more stories to tell in this world...yes, please!

Ironvine hit all the right spots for me, with a great balance of story and romance. It's exactly what I needed, when I needed it. It isn't a story that I see sitting with me for a long time but that doesn't take away from the experience while I was in it.

Audio Review:
Ironvine (Unraveled Destiny Series, book 2) is the first book I listened to in the series so I don’t know if it would have been better if I listened to the first book before this one. I did enjoy their love-story, just felt I would like to know more of their background history.

Stewart Crank and Allie Rose narrated this historical romance and I loved Stewart’s inflection. He added a bit of intrigue to his tone. Allie portrayed Georgina well bringing her character and the story to life.
