- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2019Rob Jones is joining the archaeological /historic thriller with some winning characters. Rarely does Jones resort to 'central casting' brush strokes in character development. Heroes are supposed to be brave. There is (so far) one female character I would tell a younger reader..."OK - THAT woman is Ok to hit..." I read Jone for escapism so the minute I pick up the book I accept the boundaries of the Jones / Hawke universe. The authors universe and my set design seem to work out well. After I finished the first book - I bought the whole set. I'm just starting book 4 and I have no changes to my enthusiasm and appreciation.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2017I chose Vault Of Poseidon because I love archaeology, mythology, mystery, action, intrigue, and strong characters. This book did not disappoint! Rob Jones carries an exciting story with little pause...and as soon as there is a lull, it quickly proves a "psych!" Off we readers go from the USA and all through Europe. Buy this title and you won't be disappointed. It's not for those seeking highbrow esoterica; this is the best brain candy around!! The only reason I gave it four stars is due to some of the dialogue; it was a little confusing at times and I found some very forced or overused. Still, overall, hive fives and fist bumps!! Way to go Rob Jones!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2021I enjoyed the twists and turns of this adventure. A lot of fun and entertaining characters. Moves well and kept me engaged. A bit repetitious in places but nothing that was too distracting from the plot. Rather than give a lot of spoilers, and although the basics of this book followed a bit of a formula (I.e. hero, fights, trauma, more fights, girl….etc.) the twists were fun! The women were portrayed as capable fighters and very smart. That was a nice bonus of reading this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2017As adventure goes it was pretty good but a few glaring errors were found. I chapter 13 the "team" is on stakeout in a Citron auto across the street from the room window they are watching. Then in the middle of chapter Hawke & Lea get out to go to gangster's room. The remaining 2 team members are now sitting in a Lexus on a side street. Ooops! What did I miss?
Pg 224 in chapter 26: If the "team" traveled west in the tunnels under the Island of Kelalonia and the Bay of Sami waters come into the vault of Poseidon...How is that possible when the Bay of Sami is on the east side of the island?? Unless the author meant to write east...
And on page 294 chapter 35 Zaugg screams for 17 seconds after having his throat shot out by a .50 cal bullet. No way!
Great (?) story other wise.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2017The first book in a series is often the hardest to write. Many undeveloped characters and loose ends that are never followed up, make for a sometimes confusing storyline for the reader. This book is no exception, but it is written well enough to make you want to read more books in the series. Be patient, and read more Joe Hawke adventures..... it's worth your time.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2017Don't you love it when you discover a great new author with a huge backlist? I've only just finished The Vault of Poseidon and enjoyed every minute of it. Best of all, it's the first book in a series and I can keep enjoying the adventures of Joe Hawke.
The female characters in the book were awesome and I can understand why this series is so popular with both male and female readers.
I've got a long haul flight coming up next week and until I discovered Rob Jones, I wasn't sure what to load up on the Kindle for inflight reading. Now I know - The entire Joe Hawke series.
Bravo Zulu, Rob Jones!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2017The author's work is very similar to David Leadbeater, who I really like.
The focus is more on the thriller and action aspect, and less on the historical accuracy. Which is fine by me.
I loved the book, and as I write this, I am reading the 4th one.
Great book, never stopped and a total page turner.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2022This is my first foray into the world of Joe Hawke but it won’t be the last. In the genre of the “former sec ops military guy “ turned hero, Joe Hawke holds his own. This book with its twists and turns as well as the basics of interesting and intriguing story line will keep the reader entertained for some time. Now on to book two.

A fast and exciting story line with just enough twists to make you read the next page and want you to know how it ends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Apenas razoável....
Dá para ler e passar algumas horas agradáveis, mas certamente não é nenhum livro muito atraente. O enredo não me prendeu muito a atenção.
