Two Weeks Notice: A Steamy Office Romance Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 19,275 ratings

From New York Times bestselling author Whitney G. comes an unputdownable office romance between an alpha-hole boss & his feisty & fed-up assistant.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to formally announce my resignation from Parker International (& the arrogant, condescending CEO) effective two weeks from today.

This was a VERY EASY decision to make, as the past two years have been utterly miserable. I wish his next executive assistant all the luck in the world (she'll need it) and if my boss should need me to do anything over the next two weeks, kindly tell him that he can do it [his] goddamn self...

Sincerely (Not Really),
Tara Lauren

That's the version of my two weeks' notice I should've sent to my boss, because the more professional version--the one where I said I was "grateful for all the opportunities," and "honored by all the rewarding experiences" over the years?

That letter was rejected with his sexy, trademark smirk and an "I highly suggest you read the fine print of your contract..."

So, I did.

And now I've realized that unless I fake my death, poison him, or find a way to renegotiate my impossible contract, I'm stuck working under one of the cockiest and most ruthless bosses in New York.

Then again, I thought that was the case until he called me late last night with an emergency proposition...

**This is a standalone contemporary romance.**

From the Inside Flap

PROLOGUETara"Winners never quit, and quitters never win ..."If I had a dollar for every time my mother said those words to me, I would be sipping wine on my own private island off the Amalfi Coast at this very moment. When I cried about hating ballet, she squished my feet into those ugly pink flats and made me go to practice anyway. When I told her thatI wanted to change my major from Business to "something more creative," she threatened to stop paying my tuition. And when I told her that I was seconds away from telling my first real boss to go f*ck himself, she would only sigh and give me her tried and true words of advice. She insisted that all my late-night emails were "wasteful whining," that my screams of hatred were "misplaced admiration," and that all the times he made me work over a hundred hours in a single week were "much-needed character building." After two long years of working for him, I've finally accepted that none of those things are true. Preston Parker is an a**hole boss. That is it. End of discussion. My mother can call me a "quitter" all she wants, but she'll never know what it's like to work for a man like him. A man whose ego is bigger than all of New York and Vegas combined.Yes, he can make any woman wet by uttering a single syllable from his perfectly molded mouth. Yes, his deep emerald and grey eyes are downright breathtaking, and the way he's able to make any suit look like it was made explicitly for him, never ceases to amaze me.But I've had more than enough.I can't take working for him anymore, and I'm finally drafting the two weeks' notice I should've drafted the very first month we worked together. (No, the very first week we worked together.)

Light, fun, and sexy
I’ve read Two Weeks Notice twice now, and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. There were many laugh-out-loud moments, tons of steamy scenes, and just enough emotional drama to keep things interesting. Parker and Tara are a wonderful couple, and I love the way Whitney wrote their HEA. The story is light, fun, and sexy. A perfect romcom!

I love this author so much, She’s my go to. I simply love Whitney’s style writing and the characters. They’re delicious, grumpy, sassy, hawtttt and easy to love.

Preston was no exception and I fell in love with him. Their chemistry and banter gave me LIFE! Whitney makes it feel so honest and true, always making me want MORE after every single “the end”. I “run” for those bonus epiloges like a starving woman every single time!

I loved Tara’s sass and backbone, she was just so inspiring and I thought, “I want her to be my friend. Or just to be her so I can get Preston”.

So...(palms up and hunches shoulders) Whitney G delivers her take on a tired idea. I don't care. I loved her book. I laughed. I swooned. I fumed. Of course, we've all read books like this, especially if readers tend to stick to certain types of genres, but we still read them. Either for the author or for the content. So back off! Keep doing you Whitney! ;)

Anyway... There were scenes that had me rolling. The stolen umbrella! The neighbors Wi-Fi password! Waking up and rolling over to purple button eyes! I can imagine Preston's face as he jumped! LMAO!!! I loved how Preston had done little things for Tara without her knowing. That was the sweetest. I think my favorite part of the whole book was Tara's outburst to Preston! That was absolutely divine! The steamy sex scenes provided an insatiable hunger for more.

As far as the writing goes, I think the story had a cohesive flow. Everything fit. I wished it could have been longer. I started the book this morning and I'm already done. That sucks. Maybe more detail in the time missing. Knowing what actually transpired in the two years we missed. Or the two weeks of agony for Preston. Or the one week for Tara. Also, a little editing. Just a little.

Narration! As I've stated before, Joe is my favorite male narrator! Period! He was a little monotone for some scenes, but I'll buy anything Joe reads. Erin was a neutral step for me. She becomes whiny and sings the end of sentences (if you've heard her before then you know what I mean...). That really degrades on the character when the female is having a strong moment in the book. I'd rather not hear that my female character is singing the end of every sentence. Though she does have a bit of husk to her voice when it comes to sex scenes (MAJOR LIKE), the long dialogue moments when Tara is thinking to herself becomes annoying making her SEEM stuck when she's really not. These are just my thoughts on Erin on reading FOR THIS BOOK. I've heard Erin reading before and it's not the same. Maybe that is Whitney's idea for Tara's inside voice.

Bravo Whitney G! Onto the next book. Maybe I should start at the beginning of your published books and read them all. I want to see your growth as an author.

Tara Lauren is down on her luck. She has a BA and MBA from Princeton and her law degree from Harvard but she can't find a job to save her sorry butt. Down to her last few dollars, Tara will walk into hotels pretending to be a guest and eat from their breakfast buffets....her favorite being the Parker Hotels. Imagine her shock when she is caught one day with Preston Parker right there. Imagine her greater shock when he takes her to his office and ends up offering her a job as his executive assistant making $350,000! Thinking she has it made she quickly finds out that her boss is an a$$! Tara thinks if she can stick it out for at least 6 months she can save some money and find a better job. Too bad Preston Parker has other ideas!

Preston goes through assistants almost as fast as he does coffee, but something about Tara intrigues him. Even though he does make her life a living hell, he enjoys being around her, so much so that she spends almost all of her awake time with Preston.

By the time Tara has reached two years with the company she decides she has had enough and gives her two weeks notice. Too bad she didn't read the fine print of her contract....she cannot quit! So what does she do, she tries and makes Preston's life hell.

What these two didn't realize is that they both thrived over the other. Preston may be a jerk about a lot of things, but deep down he really cared for Tara. Tara realized she had deep feelings for Preston but felt he was appreciating her. When push came to shove, it took a surprising twist for these two to finally get together. When it looked like they were finally going to get their happy ending, Preston had to go and open his mouth! Of course when dealing with true love, better minds prevailed and Preston finally won his girl.

I just loved these two. Preston really was an a$$ and Tara knew just how to throw it back at him. So many times while reading this I just burst out laughing! All I kept thinking was that I would never want to get on this author's bad side because the things she comes up with as revenge are priceless! Overall this book was perfect! Great characters, fun story and a lot of sexual tension.

I absolutely devoured this book in 2 days. It was super fun, sexy and delightfully entertaining. It was funny and also HOT. I loved everything about Preston and as much as Tara 'hated' him, his redeeming factors were sooo swoon worthy - I would do anything to work for a CEO like him. And tara was a perfect match for him on all grounds and their chemistry was off the charts.
This was the exactly the light hearted yet romantic/funny read I wanted at this time and it delivered 100%
