𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: Jonah Bennett
𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Bennett Mafia #1.5
𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿: Tijan
𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆☆ 5/5
If you haven’t read Bennett Mafia and you are planning on reading it, I would recommend to read it before Jonah Bennett. However, you can also read it as a standalone, only a few things from Bennett Mafia will be spoiled. Wow this book starts off with a Bang and I love how Tijan can get me addicted to a story from those first few pages. The writing is gripping and won’t let you go until you’ve finished that last page. This novella is full of love, pain, heartbreak, healing, steamy scene’s, action, suspense, family and heartfelt conversations. It is just a novella that I could read in a couple of hours which I love, even more so, I love how Tijan knows how to write a full story with all those elements in less words. I was already curious about Jonah when I read Bennett Mafia and there was just so much more to him that I could’ve thought. I was also so happy to read about Tanner, Brooke and Kai again. It was great to see what happened to them between Bennett Mafia and this novella. I highly recommend reading this book, especially if you love Mafia romance books.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2021I love Tijan's work and Jonah Bennett lived up to that!
Jonah wanted to be a doctor so that he could fix all the people that were broken especially when it came to the things his stepfather did. He did not talk about his family although he loves them very much. Even his fiancee Melissa had not met his family.
When Melissa dies Jonah has to make some decisions. Will he keep his family at bay at all times or will he accept who he is and the things that he needs to do.
Crosby and Jonah initial meet when he views Melissa's body in the morgue. There is something about her that calls him. Crosby thought Jonah to be extremely handsome but could not in good conscience speak to him under the circumstances.
As this is a novella, the story is short but the connection between Jonah and Carson is so intense and feel pretty much instant. This story is well written and has action, suspense and steamy.
Definitely a quick read this weekend!!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Page-turner, Unpredictable, Wonderful characters
- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2021I really enjoyed Jonah's novella...it felt longer than almost novellas I have read recently, so that was a plus.. I am a huge fan of Bennett Mafia so I was really excited to get to read Jonah's book. I Did like Carson a lot. I had some minor issues with her decision making near the end of the book but it worked out. Overall, I enjoyed looking in again at the Bennett's and their love if family.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2022This short mafia novella about Jonah Bennett, the baby of the Bennett Mafia family was surprisingly good. I recommend that you read Bennett Mafia before you read this book. This book told the story of Jonah and his late fiancé Melissa, who dies and, in his quest, to find out who killed her, he comes to some self-realization, especially with the help of his sister Brooke and his brother Tanner. We get to find out what is happening with the head of the family Kai and his wife Riley. We find out what happened with Brooke and Eric. Then we already know that Tanner is not into women and so we know that he is still his brother's right-hand man and over the family organization in the states. I love that we get find out what happens while Jonah is off being a surgeon, even though there is tragedy, he comes out on the other end with some happiness. I liked this novella. Would highly recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2021If you haven’t read Bennett Mafia yet and plan to, go read that first. Jonah’s story was supposedly written to be a standalone, however, there are a few references, and appearances, to the main and side characters in Bennett Mafia that are spoilers. Some readers may not mind, but if you’re someone that would rather read with the best experience, then I highly suggest you read Bennett Mafia first and then Jonah’s story.
What to say about Jonah’s story. First of all, this is a novella, there’s a lot of story shoved into a small book. The overall story takes place over a few days time, with time skips to move the story along faster here and there. This story covers death and grieving, rage/hatred, revenge, remorse and insta-love. I wanted to love this story, I really did, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. I’m not sure how it felt as both a lot and very little happened in this book. Maybe it was the time jumps, or maybe it was just a rushed story, but it didn’t feel like a fully finished story to me. Maybe Jonah just deserved a full length novel and not this novella, especially for what he went through and the introduction of Carson. I feel like there was a lot of potential but it fell short, that the overall problem wasn’t as big as I thought it’d be. Jonah wasn’t exactly how I thought he’d be, his personality was different from Bennett Mafia, which I do understand because of the circumstances, but still, it was a bit of a let down. Carson was great, she was funny and quirky, and I loved reading her POV, we didn’t get a lot of background info on her, or her family, but she was cool and I liked her a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this author
I didn't know I could enjoy this one so much, but I sure did!!
I loved to see Kai, Tanner and Brooke again. Kai was my favorite and kind of still is.
What a heartbreak it must be to lose the one you love and then go through a different path later.
I understand how and why Jonah didn't want to be involved in the family business, but he would be kind of good at it. At least from the bit I saw of him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn’t put it down
Thank you to the author for this gift of a new story - such a treat for someone who’s read other books by Tijan related to this “world”. That said, a very good story, fast-paced enough novella. Enjoyed this very much, more please !

5.0 out of 5 stars I’m a bit nostalgic now! ❤️❤️
I always look forward for Tijan new releases because I just know that it will be amazing!
I love how she make connections with her previous books and to see some of those characters were amazing!
Jonah’s story was short but at the same time really intense, knowing a bit of his background because of Bennett Mafia enabled Tijan to dive in his present without much of clarification of what his family business did to him growing up and see him suffering, drowning in guilt and denying his upbringing was heartbreaking.
The need to have a normal life and to ignore his mafia blood droveJonah to this parallel reality where he believed the illusion, until his past played catch up and Melissa was murdered in front of him.
The book itself it’s a journey, where Jonah learned to accept finally that not being involved with his brothers business, doesn’t change the fact that he is in fact a Bennett and whoever get close to him will need to be brought in to the family circle, and all the measures necessary to keep them safe.
He was so selfless and so strong that the beauty of this book was seeing him finding himself in a world where the people around him has the right to choose to be with him, that he can warn them, but it’s a two way street.
I loved seeing their brothers dynamics and the love that they had for each other and most of all, Carson;
She definitely shaped him more and gave him the “feels” of what it’s like to be with someone and be totally accepted. Respecting that everybody has a past and a background, but that doesn’t define them.
I really love this book! Tijan is an amazing writer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant read from Tijan!
Another brilliant read from Tijan!
What a perfect blend of of character. Doc on one side and mafia family on the other, even though he isn't involved in the dark side.
Lots of hotness, as you'd expect. Great characters. And a nicely twisted plot to keep you guessing!
Happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised that I Loved it
I got it because it because I love reading Tijan but wasn't in a hurry to read because it was about Jonah, the "good" Bennett.... I mean he's no Kai that's for sure.... or Tanner even. Tijan did it again. Right from chapter one, My heart broke for Jonah. I cried, I laughed, I shook my head and fell in love with Jonah's story when I really wasn't expecting to.
