Leo Hunt has come to a crossroads in his life. A notable Corinthian, and a man who can never say no to a challenge, Leo has decided it's time to grow up. When Leo Hunt makes his intention to pursue her known, Vi thinks he’s lost his mind. Either that, or he’s doing it for a dare, or a lark, or, more likely, a bet. Whatever the reason, she’s not about to fall for it. He might be the man she has secretly loved since girlhood, but she’s no fool, and any connection between them would surely end in disaster. However, Vi has not reckoned upon her marriage-minded adopted mama, Lady Trevick. The lady is determined to see Vi happily married, whether she likes it or not.

Finding herself out manoeuvred, Vi determines to endure Leo’s courting like one would a bout of the measles, until he tires of the idea.

A catastrophe waiting to happen…

When Leo takes an unwilling Vi for yet another turn around the park, he is on his best behaviour, well aware that, unlike his favourite feline, he does not have nine lives and his chances with Vi are running out.

Sadly, no one told his constant companion, The Cat, Mau. Unlike most cats, Mau’s devotion is legendary, a superior feline, he is famous among the ton – and among those with nefarious intentions. Lured from his master’s side, Mau is snatched by criminals determined to demand a vast ransom for the beloved and much-admired animal.

All does not go smoothly, however.

All nine lives…

When their diversion fails, the criminals flee with Mau in their clutches, and Violetta and Leo in hot pursuit. On the following adventure, Vi discovers not only that she’s enjoying herself despite imminent ruin, but that devil may care Leo is not at all what she expected.

    This just a good as hoped, Leo is such a great character and Mau was a stroke of genius. I really enjoyed their story, of course they got Vi but the how was so entertaining! But when they loose the villain’s they ask a local Reverend for assistance and tells him they are man and wife. As they are lead on this meery adventure Vi must make a decision. A wonderful story with a perfect ending.

    I have loved Leo and Violettas interaction in the earlier books. I was let down on how the book begins with Leo deciding he is going to convince Vi to marry him. He just starts taking her places and no developemnt there. While we know they have had a thing for each other, I would have liked to see him discovering his feelings for her more in their book. The beginning just let me down. I did enjoy the rest of it. Just wanted more.

    I am thoroughly enjoying Emma's Wicked Sons series of books and this 9th book does not disappoint.
    But I would recommend you start at the beginning of these intertwined families love lives - reading Girls Who Dare series first starting with To Dare a Duke, then moving on to Daring Daughters and finishing with Wicked Sons.
    The stories of the mothers Kay the foundations and then the Daughters and Sons whilst running along side by side do inter play. They are all individual stories but I think following them in the order written us the best way. The author gives you a clever sneaky look at events running along through excerpts from correspondence being exchanged so don't skip these bits, they build the overall story! They will help you understand why our main characters start in the place they do in this book. And take time to follow the building if the Family Trees - I love that thus has been done, I am forever referring to them. Onto this specific story ...
    Leo is a fun character and Vi just needed some courage. Romance isn't this stories string point but it's there - and I've loved Mau the cat since he was introduced many books back.
    All these books have let me escape into a world of romance and happy endings, with passionate couples who are not afraid to love and enjoy sex

    And although I really enjoyed their story, I have to say I am a little sad that i finished the book. That’s why I had to read it twice. I could not let it go!
