Seeds of Love: A Friends to Lovers, New Adult College Romance Book (University of Mountain Springs: A new adult college romance series 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 116 ratings

She's out to change the world. He's out to survive it. Falling for each other? Definitely not on the agenda.

Everyone knows Freddie Donovan doesn't do relationships. He's got the reputation, the track record, and the carefully constructed walls to prove it. But something about Alex makes him want to be more than his reputation. She sees through his charm, challenges his cynicism, and makes him dream of things he never thought he deserved.

Alex Ford's path is clear: land a spot at the prestigious Global Sustainable Resources Institute and prove everyone wrong about what one person can accomplish. She's passionate, driven, and nothing—especially not UMS's notorious player with his heart-stopping smile—will distract her from her goals.

But at University of Mountain Springs, Alex finds what she never knew she needed: a best friend who celebrates her quirks, a found family that loves her unconditionally, and one infuriatingly charming guy who makes her feel seen for exactly who she is.

Seeds of Love is a steamy, emotional romance about finding the courage to let someone in—even when it means risking everything you've built. Perfect for readers who believe that the right person doesn't just love you as you are—they make you brave enough to become who you're meant to be. If you enjoy second chance, college romance this book is for you.

Looking for your next cozy autumn/winter read? Lola Lockhart crafts addictive stories that are perfect for curling up with on a fall afternoon or a winter evening.

Lovely book

Lovely book
The cover of this book is what got me to be honest. It was just so pretty and bright. Then when I saw the tropes I knew I needed to read this. Freddie and Alex are your typical opposites attract. But I am calling this one “opposites attract with a twist!” Freddie is your typical young college guy, not looking for a relationship and just having fun while in college. That kinda changes when he gets back after summer break, he has some family troubles he needs to figure out and help with. So he promises himself he is going to get more serious with school and changes course. Alex is a girl who wants to change the world. Wants to make it a better place to live in and save all things in the environment. She has her reasons why she is so focused and a die hard environmentalist. She also wants to break out of her shell and try to have a normal college experience. This is when Freddie comes into the picture and sparks an interesting friendship. This is my “twist” I mentioned earlier. They have a friendship that on paper looks like it would never work but they make it work somehow. Now both are stubborn and set in their ways/views that it got kinda hard to read for me. They kept having the same fights and Alex would never listen to reason. I get that they are young and learning but I felt like she should have listen to Freddie if he was her best friend like she said he was. She just never gave him the time to explain his reasoning for doing some of the things he did. Overall I did enjoy the whole story. It was a different read, the whole environmentalism stuff, then I have read before. And these two did work out their problems and finally got that HEA. . . . 3️⃣.7️⃣5️⃣⭐️ 🌶️ 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 7/10 recommendation

Quick read, I really enjoyed this book very captivating ❤️ Seeds of Love won’t ever leave my mind ! Exited about the next book Series.

This college romance follows Alex and Freddie. Alex is sweet, naive, shy and passionate but sometimes very fiery while Freddie is a player, party boy, womanizer and not into relationships/commitment. They live very different lives but somehow their paths cross and everything changes. This book centers on environmental science and that was definitely a first for me in a romance fiction book but I enjoyed it all the way through. I will say that I was worried towards the end about the book having a third act break up but it exceeded my expectations and I’m happy with how it ended. Definitely check this book out, it’s got friends to lovers, tension, forced proximity, drama and spice!

I really enjoyed reading Seeds of Love. If you’re looking for something that’s an easy, quick and captivating read this book is for you. I don’t always love the use of Past and Present duel POV’s but i think it really allows you to understand the relationships in this story. I had so many emotions while reading this (in one sitting AT THAT!!), and really went back and forth on who i wanted to side with.

I guarantee you will not be able to set this book down and will fall in love with Freddie & Alex !! #teamfreddie

Alex is a fresman environmental science major at UMS.
Freddie is a player with the ladies but secretly holding the wait of his family on his shoulder.

Alex is determined to have a different college experience than highschool, while working hard to change the world and get into Global Sustainable Resources Institute program. Little does she know, making friends with Freddie is just what she needed to see that the world isn't just black and white. But how can she fall in love with someone who isn't 100% on board with her views of the damage big oil/mining is doing to the world?

Freddie is a sophomore at UMS who just changed his major over the summer in hopes of having a fancy degree will land him an amazing paying job, and he can take care of his family. He has no time for relationships and is just another college guy who is getting laid, partying and trying to forget his worries...until he meets Alex. Alex is so passionate about GSRI and saving the world that Freddie can't help but be intrigued by here....but he has to help his family, would Alex understand?

Lola Lockhart wrote an amazing story that I didn't know I needed. There is no way you won't find yourself rooting for Alex and Freddie in the end. I'm not usually a slow burn fan, but this, this has changed me!

    5 stars!

I finished this book in like 2 days I couldn't put it down! The book is written in Dual POV but also with two timelines, but all that info is mentioned at the beginning of the chapter so it was not a problem for me.

This book is about Alex who goes to college and get an internship at her dream company the GSRI and wants to change the world in terms of climate and decides to study environmental science.

There she meets Freddie who is taking the same classes but his intentions to study environmental science in the first place is so he can get a good job after graduating and help his family out financial wise.

At the beginning of the book we learn that Alex and Freddie are stuck together as partners for a group project and we learn they had a fight and they actually don't want to work together but are forced to. Through flashblacks we learn how they met, become study budies, have undeniable chemistry, but also have fights about their views on the environment. Alex judges Freddie for just being in it for the money and Freddie blames Alex for seeing the world as black and white.

So can they put their differences aside and ace the project? Next to solving their issues and make sacrifices for love?

I just really loved how the characters weren't superficial and had real issues to deal with and it made sense after learning about their backstories. It must have been real love to work through these kind of issues because most people would have given up after their first disagreement!

The characters felt real and relatable, making it easy to get invested in their journey. The humor was great too, adding lightness without feeling forced. Overall, I loved the book and I’d highly recommend!

A wonderfully written sweet slow burn, friends to lovers romance that is more in depth and portrays the emotions of the characters very well. I loved the writing style and the way the plot is set up within the different months and years within college (then and now). The book is written from Alex and Freddie's point of view, which allows you to get to know and understand the characters very well. I loved how the characters get to know each other and how the characters develop.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    3.5⭐️ 3🌶️

    Main Tropes:
    Slow Burn
    Forced Proximity
    Friends to Lovers
    College/University Romance

Reading this book was really enjoyable. I enjoyed the tropes, the spicy content (wish there was more though) and even though there wasn’t that much I enjoyed the confrontation. I do wish in the earlier chapters things weren’t so fast. Great plus in reading this book is that this is a stuff my kindle find.

The 4th book I’ve read of Lola Lockhart’s now and instantly my new favourite.
Really enjoyed the development of both Alex and Freddie and also love seeing a romance book combined with a woman in STEM. Very excited about the next book in the Series
