Kidding Around: A steamy story of love and infertility (The Hartman Family Book 3) Kindle Edition
Childhood sweethearts who grew up planning their lives together, infertility throws a spanner in the works. They have it all planned out: medical school, surprise wedding, and then conceiving on their Italian honeymoon. But sometimes even the best laid plans don’t work out.
Month after month, Emily’s period arrives like clockwork, along with the disappointment of not being any closer to holding a baby in her arms. She has dreamt of a large family. An only child, adopted as a baby to parents who had experienced infertility themselves, she would choose motherhood over medicine any day of the week.
For Boyd, the idea of giving children the idyllic childhood he experienced has been the dream. He wants cousins for his nieces. A big kid himself, he wants to dedicate his working life to sick kids and become a paediatrician. Kids are awesome. But why can’t he make a baby with her?
Will the pain and disappointment of infertility place a wedge in their relationship, or are they really meant to be always and forever?\
This book sits in the Hartman world, but can easily be read as a standalone. It features no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. It's written in first person dual point of view.

About the author
Jezabel Nightingale is an emerging author of contemporary romance. She wears so many hats, including nurse, mother, wife, writer, and scholar. In her spare time you’ll find her cheering on AFL football, in the kitchen baking a cake, or reading a spicy romance novel. It is not unusual to find a gin and tonic in her hand, or something chocolatey in her vicinity. She will blame these vices for her overuse of exclamation marks and commas, because, why not‽
She lives on the East Coast of Australia with Dr Nightingale, her spunkrat of a husband, her cats, and her kids who keep popping home, despite officially having moved out.
If she's not writing, or nursing, you'll possibly find her in her Facebook group, Jezabel's Joint, or you can visit her website www.jezabelnightingale.com

- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2024This book was soooo good, as a person who can not have children I don’t know what it feels like to have that choice ripped away from me. But I must say our female character is extremely brave and strong in this book. And I loved every minute of it can’t wait to read more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2024When in elementary school Boys told everyone that he was marrying Emily they both became doctors she decided to be in general practice and he was going for paediatrician. They were trying to have children then doing IVF but never lasted after another miscarriage she decided to divorce Boyd but he fought back. They went to therapy and date, taking time off work to travel and work overseas went back home after 5 years. Decided to try IVF again the last time. Good book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2024As a woman who chose to be childless, I must confess, I don’t have an understanding of what it would mean to me to have that choice taken away. But I do feel this couple’s frustration and monthly grief.
And I feel their deep love for each other.
Jezabel Nightingale has written another book that is outside the norm of what a romance novel is considered to be, but as always writes with gusto and truthfulness — the good, the bad, and the painful. And yet, this is a book of putting love first, which I highly appreciate.

5.0 out of 5 stars There were tears!
Having dealt with infertility and pregnancy loss this book was both engrossing and cathartic. Jezabel knows her stuff and it shows. Her writing took me back to the roller coaster of emotions associated with this time in my life. Her storytelling is engaging and gritty. Another one that kept me turning the pages.
