Knightmaster (Oronis Knights Book 1) Kindle Edition
Xenoanthropologist Kennedy Black loves exploring new cultures with Space Corps. Everyone in her life has left her, so she happily fills the void with exciting adventures. When she’s assigned to escort the new ambassador to the planet Oron for an opulent ball, she’s thrilled to get an up-close look at the Oronis knights, and their culture of honor and duty to their knightqueen. But she never expected her reaction to cool, controlled Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor, head of the Oronis Knightforce.
And she really didn’t expect a savage alien attack that leaves the knightqueen missing and Earth fingered as the culprit.
Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor lives to protect his planet, his people, and his knightqueen. He came from nothing, and the code of knighthood is the cornerstone of his being. When Knightqueen Carys is abducted by their mortal enemies, the ferocious Gek’Dragar, he’s icily enraged, especially when he finds evidence that Earth, and the far too enticing Sub-Captain Kennedy Black, are involved.
But Kennedy vows to clear Earth’s name by helping Ashtin and his knights find the queen. As she and Ashtin embark on a risky mission to a dangerous jungle planet, they’re forced to rely on each other, and their sizzling chemistry is soon undeniable. But love can’t be an option, not for a knight bound only to his duty and a woman whose heart already has too many scars.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2023Ashtin Caydor and Kennedy Black
NOTE: this ends with a small book-hook type cliffhanger: the main characters from this book aren’t in that hook, but others characters are. It rates about a 3/5 on the trauma scale- anxious for answers, but not yet emotionally invested!
Aboard the new (and somewhat experimental) Terran ship “The Helios”, Kennedy Black, a Xenoanthropologist with the Terran Spacecorps, is hoping to help their team negotiate an alliance with the Oronis people.
When the enemy of the Oronis kidnaps their queen, suspicion is thrown upon the Terran delegation, and Kennedy teams up with Knightmaster Ashtin to hunt down the perpetrators and prove Earth’s innocence.
Kennedy is a well trained, tough and smart sub-captain. She’s adaptable and stubborn, two traits she definitely uses in this story.
Ashtin is structured and strong. He has his code and sticks to it, even if it’s not quite what he wants- he is a dutiful knight with a code of chivalry.
Beep is a cute droid- a flying, tiny R2D2 type, with his own way of communicating, and suspiciously sentient. He provides the cute and humour factors!
We’re back in Anna Hackett’s Eon Warrior universe, and this time we’re getting to know the Oronis Knights- another humanoid race that Earth is hoping to make an alliance with, and one we briefly encountered in the Eon warrior series.
You don’t need to have read the Eon books to read this, but I do recommend it if only because some of those adventures are referenced briefly, and because we do see some old favourites from Eon; but the focus is on some new characters with a new ongoing background story, and a whole new team and ship.
There is lots of action (it *is* an Anna Hackett book), some romance and sexy times, and a little learning about this new race of beings; as well as the setup of a new world and adventure for our enjoyment; all of which provides a thoroughly entertaining, fast read for the sci-fi romance enthusiast.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2024If you like an action-packed romance, look no further. A good romance, but I would have liked to get to know the hero and heroine better, I do look forward to continuing the series. Knighthunter next!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2023Ever since they were first introduced as characters in the Eon warriors books I've looked forward to the Oronis Knights! And it was totally worth the wait! This is the story of the Knights master and the xenoanthropolgist Kennedy and Ashtin. Ashtin is ruthless , duty and honor oriented and isn't sure about these new people from Earth that his queen has invited to become allies. Kennedy can't wait to meet new people, discover new knowledge and go on new adventures. She's ready to not only do her job but create a strong alliance between each and Oronis . everything begins well and then with one event all hell breaks loose! Old enemies once defeated become new ones stronger than ever. Danger and chaos almost ruin the alliance before it begins. And Ashtin and Kennedy must work together to prove Earth s innocence and rescue one of the most important people on Oronis! As the knight master and the space marine get to know one another the respect and genuine affection grow into something neither panned for all consuming passion and love. A true place to belong! This is a fantastic start to the new series and I hope there will be several books in this series! Loved it highly recommend and I can wait for the next in The series! 🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2023I’m always loving Anna Hackett’s sci fi romances. There’s something about them that makes them comfort reads for me and I find myself rushing to download the newest release. Knightmaster was no exception and I dug in as soon as I got the kiddo to bed. This has to be my new favorite from Hackett. I’ve always romanticized medieval knights a bit more than the average person so maybe I’m biased, but the world of Oronis and the knight warriors is genius. I love how these alien knights have all the same characteristics our earth knights of old except they’re even more attractive. The way Oronis is tied into Earth and Eon is clever and I love that there is mention of them all sharing an ancestor - so the similarities with the alien races are uncanny. You’ll get no spoilers from me. I just wanted to express how much I enjoyed this book and how excited I am for Kaden’s story. If you like knights, strong female characters, dark heroes, and a damn good plot with exceptional world building - this is the book for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2024I love this authors writing style and i love the storyline, however, because this book is written in 3rd person i kept falling out of the story. If this was written in 1st person i would give it a 5 star rating. But i just could not step into the shoes of the character due to 3rd person. Imagine if we had to watch movies in 3rd person people would run from the theater, that’s what i feel like when reading 3rd person. Hope authors will move to 1st person because what should have taken a day at most to read took me a week and i almost DNF’d it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2023The premise behind this world of Oronis is interesting. Kind of like Knights of the round table meet Jedi Knights. All that honor and duty, armor and abilities to manifest needed weapons. Fascinating. We got a bit of that on the Eon world, but Oronis takes it even further. There is still lots of action. Feisty, kicka$$ heroines and hot alpha heroes. *sigh* The overarching story of this series is going to drive me nuts because I won't be able to binge read it. I will have to wait for the next book to release. Not all bad because I can't put these down and I have things to do. Counting the days until the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello Oronis
I am so happy to be back in the Eon/Terran world! I enjoy all of Anna's books but her SFR are my true favorites. It was great to see & hear from characters from previous books but the real thrill was getting to see the planet Oron & meet more of the Oronis. They are a fascinating species with myriad different abilities & I can't wait o get to know more of their people as we search for their missing Knightqueen. Bring on the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another sensational read!!
What a fantastic way to start a new series. Great action and romance at a quick pace! Awesome new characters to follow, and bringing back the Eon and their ladies to help the Oronis was a pleasure to read! Can't wait for book 2

5.0 out of 5 stars Kennedy and Ashtin
Kennedy Black is assigned to escort the new ambassador to the planet Oron. Ashtin Caydor is the head of the Oronis Knightforce. As there is an alien attack, the knightqueen missing, Kennedy is accused of being involved, but she helps Ashtin to find the Queen to prove the innocence of the terrans.
I loved to read the book. Kennedy and Ashtin are a good fitting romantic couple. Ashtin is responsible, duty-bound and caring. Kennedy is curious and willing to learn everything and sexy. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next installment in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous start to this new series
Loved both Astin and Kennedy, from different planets. Both have experienced loss and are damaged but together, fighting to find the Queen of the knights who had been brazenly kidnapped,. They work tirelessly to seek her location. They are up against a formidable enemy but Astin is determined not only to find his queen but to protect Kennedy but she does not need his help. She is powerful. His admiration for her, as well as their growing chemistry, will cause him TO rd-think his priorities!! This is a great read!! Why am I not surprised. Anna Hackett is the Queen of romantic Suspense within a sci-fi backdrop!! I am already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
