4.9 out of 5 stars 85 ratings

Trapped in the body of the murderous Zara the Fury, our hero might not know her real name, but she knows how to play a game.

Or so she thought.
The world of Knights of Eternity is no simple dungeon-crawler with damsels in distress. The tyrannical god Calamity treats the world as his chess board, a knight is faced with the chance to change his fate, and cryptic quests promise our hero overwhelming power.

But the real Zara the Fury wants her body back. And she’ll do whatever it takes to get it.

Welcome to the world of Knights of Eternity—a LitRPG adventure where power has a price.

From one of the writers of the multi award winning game of the year, Baldur's Gate 3 comes a gripping tale of exploration, growth and danger. This dark, arcade-inspired LitRPG world is a place where reality and fantasy collide in a gripping tale of redemption and self-discovery. Get ready for the summer’s must-read book for Gamelit and RPG game lovers.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Rachel Ní Chuirc is video game writer by day, LitRPG scribbler by night, and an all-round chaos gremlin.

Hailing from Ireland, she spent six years working on Baldur's Gate 3, where she wrote characters such as Alfira, Auntie Ethel, and Shovel, while bemoaning the cost of a pint in Dublin. When she found LitRPG, it was love at first sight, and she poured (what was left of) her soul into the Knights of Eternity trilogy.

When not writing, she enjoys wrestling swans, kicking the moon, and lying about her hobbies.

Can hardly wait to read the next one. Author Rachel Ni Chuirc has an incredible imagination. It's an honor to get a glimpse of her talent. Thank you

I absolutely inhaled the first book, Calamity, along this one in about 10 days and I *cannot wait* to see what happens next. It’s a world that has elements of stories I’ve loved (Baldur’s Gate 3 and Sword Art Online, to name a few) while remaining entirely its own. The deeply complex characters, moral ambiguity, epic fight sequences, and gorgeous fantasy setting make this one of my favorite series’ I’ve read this year.

But I mean really, it’s not surprising for a writer who worked on BG3, is it? 💅

Your crown, Miss Ní Chuirc 🤲👑 because this is epic 😌🫶

I adored the book. I'm invested in these complex characters. What I like best however is discovering the world bit by bit, and how interpretation of the given quest matters. The story has me fully immersed and occupying far too much of my brain when not reading it. I appreciate that I have more questions than answers at the end. As a TTRPG fan, I think it is a perfect story that captures what it feels like when you get invested in your characters, and along with personal alignment. Eager for the next book

I love me a good hardbacked book and this one felt amazing. I read the first book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second book? I finished in 2 days once I started it. I've *watched* isekai, but I've never actually read a book that took that route and boy howdy. Definitely recommend, definitely would read again. I'm super excited for book 3

I just finished burning through book one and now this one pretty much non-stop. I've gotta hand it to the author, this is a really cool story. I really appreciate that there aren't any loose ends in regards to lore or information. Often writers will mention something or drop little nuggets of creativity to explore later and then completely forget about it or disregard it in the next book like I wouldn't remember that one obscure detail from twenty chapters ago. Pfft. This book doesn't suck. The MC doesn't suck. So I guess that means I really enjoyed reading it. Pls send more when able.

5.0 out of 5 stars Desecrate delivers!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 14, 2024
Like the first book, Desecrate completely drew me in. The author paints such a vivid, visceral picture of the world, making every moment feel intense and real. The dynamic between the main character and Zara the Fury is brilliant.

I really enjoyed the different POVs and how they added depth to all the characters experiences. Both Noah and Lukas’ presence, in particular, was a highlight for me. The world-building is rich, and the system elements flow seamlessly into the story.

I loved Andrea's narration, it was flawless!

Overall, it's such an incredible read that stays with you. I'm already excited for the next book!

With the same mix of vividly exciting action and touching personal moments but improved pacing, this sequel takes every character's story in an unexpected direction. I'm certainly looking forward to how it all ties together in the third act.

I'm almost sad knowing there's only one book left in the series, because I've really enjoyed reading it and I wish it the end wasn't so foreseeable. The duality of Lazander and Zara's stories is both captivating and frustrating, in a good way (but I'm worried about Lazander, yo). This is a series I will come back to again for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written, gripping story, highly recommended

Loved the first book which left me hanging out for the second, and now I'm hanging out for the third, which is coming out tantalisingly soon. I love the writing, the characters and the story and I can't wait to find out what happens next. I've also listened to the audiobook versions and the audiobook narrator Andrea Parsneau is just fantastic. I recommend this for fans of fantasy, video games, humour, heartbreak, heroic struggles and epic storytelling because you'll find it all here.
