Deadly Words and Innocent Gossip in Little Mallow : A Little Mallow cosy mystery (Little Mallow cosy mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

Muriel Grahame has kept a secret for seven decades. It's protected her and loved ones, given them freedom and opportunities. She's grateful for the chances, the happiness, she's had. Her wish is to give those gifts to others.

Crystal Clere has mysteries to solve. Some are fun, like the test her police colleagues set to celebrate her move to CID. Others, like Adam's belief he's discovered vital information, and friend Ellie's non existent love life are just puzzling. Murder, and further attacks on residents of Little Mallow, are puzzling too but no fun at all.

Muriel wanted to silence gossip for fear it would lead to her secret being uncovered. Now she worries more people will suffer unless she reveals it. But how can she, when the secret is not hers alone?

Crystal gets people talking with cake baking, birthday parties, coffee and questions, questions, questions. She's sifting through insinuations, speculation and lies to get at the truth.

Can the two women replace fear with joy, and move on with their lives?

Patsy Collins spends her time making things up and writing them down from her home in Lee-on-the-Solent or whilst traveling in a campervan. She shares both with her photographer husband, and sometimes acts as his assistant. When away she also enjoys scrambling round ruined castles, visiting friends and eating cake. At home she gardens, bakes (and then eats) cakes. She's the author of over 30 books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Mallow - nowhere near as unsafe a place to live as Midsomer seemed to be

This series is going from strength to strength! We see Crystal in her last days in uniform before she joins CID. Problem is, a murder has happened on her patch... and she's not CID just yet. Fortunately, her superiors let her use her local knowledge — they all want to support her but remind her not to volunteer for absolutely everything: a good life lesson!
There is a significant amount of cake in Little Mallow. Is it beyond the wit of the techno wizards to develop a scratch'n'sniff'n'taste app for ebooks?
The relatively slow burn romance between Crystal and Mike seems to be hotting up. One to watch for in what I hope to be the next in the series.
Back to the murder: couldn't have happened to a nicer person (not) so loads of suspects! Kept me wondering to the end.

I have really enjoyed reading this series set in Little Mallow. The characters are very real, likeable (apart from the villains) and the author a true understanding of a small village, it’s foibles, strengths and the power of gossip.
I look forward to more in this series.
Thank you for providing such a pleasurable read.

This is a super cosey crime. Patsy Collins certainly keeps us guessing. The characters are well-developed, rounded and realistic. This is one of those books I didn’t want to put down and if I had to stop reading I looked forward to when I could pick it up again. I’ll certainly read more in this series.
