I really enjoyed reading this book. Now that I have read all of them I can say that it was my favorite. This is the one book I the series that I will reread. The scene where Randy and Holly finally make love was the hottest, even more than when she was with Victor.
I love possessive and protective heroes and Randy certainly was. He devoted six years of his life to looking for her, not willing to let the love of his life go and needing to make sure she was safe. The fact that he loved her beyond reason and would do anything for her, including being willing to readily die for her made me love him anymore.
Holly by contrast angered me in this book. This book drove home what a selfish piece of work she is. Randy gave up his freedom to be with her because he loved her and wanted to keep her safe. In return for his sacrifices on her behalf not only did she tell Randy that she loved Victor, she gave Victor gifts to keep him in her life and ran to Victor when upset when she ran to Victor, putting them all at risk, she tried to pressure Victor into having smex with her. It left a very bad task in my mouth and my respect and liking for her nosedived. Victor almost gave in but stayed strong, stopping her because he did not want her to feel guilty. Gag. It is always about high maintenance Holly.
I guess it should not surprise me that she was willing to cheat on Randy because In a prior book she had smex with Victor when he was still married. I made excuses for her when she did that telling myself that he was already seperated from his wife when it happened and his wife was a piece of work. However Holly had no excuse for trying to cheat on Randy. My admiration of Randy rose even higher when he kept true to her despite her behavior. Since finding her again, her never slept with OW.
