The Long Road Home: Book 2 in The Lucky Shores series Kindle Edition
After nearly four years away at medical school, recently qualified doctor, Chet Walker, is only hours away from returning to Lucky Shores and his fiancée, Josie.
When a quick coffee break at a rest stop diner turns into a desperate race to save a young girl's life, Walker stumbles into something much more sinister and much deadlier. Walker's Good Samaritan act sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to tear his world apart and forces him to choose between his medical oath and his love.
Josephine Donoghue has a secret. Between fleeting, long-distance video calls with Chet and the town medical centre needing him to start work the minute he arrives home, she hasn’t found the right time to tell him.
But when Chet is called away to another medical emergency by Sheriff Boyd, Josie’s time might be running out.
Will a dangerous man hell-bent on revenge separate the unlikely lovers permanently?
What readers say about the Lucky Shores series:
“…the best novel of its genre I have read in the last 10 years. Written in the smooth style I’ve become accustomed to from this exceptional author. … I had no choice but to turn page after page and get annoyed when I had to stop reading to perform some menial day to day physical act, other than to keep on reading.”
“Everything about the book keeps you wondering, and there are just enough twists in the story to imitate one of the winding switchback roads leading down the Rock Mountains to Lucky Shores.”
“Kudos to Donovan, and 5 stars at a minimum!” David Wind, author of The Nevaeh series of fantasy novels.
"…action-packed adventure … superb," Sophie Bristow Harris, host of “Kindle Suggestions”.
“Enjoyable and interesting, not to mention some fun little sidebars into the realm of music. I can't wait for the next books in this series.”
“Absolutely loved this book, the suspense is riveting, the characters multifaceted and interesting, and the town could be any little backwater town in America.”
“…an out and out a pleasure to read. Causes one to reach for the sequel.”

About the author

Kerry J Donovan was born in Dublin. A citizen of the world, he now lives with his partner, Margaret, in Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire. He has three children and four grandchildren. 5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read
The basic story line is of a young man returning across America to his fiancée after being away at medical school. However, life is not that simple and he becomes caught up in unexpected events. How he gets out of them you'll have to read for yourselves - and it will be well worth the effort! The setting is one of the remoter parts of the USA which, to me, makes it more interesting than a lot of American-set books. The story carries you along and the characters are all well defined and well written. The writing gives a real feel for the scenery of the Rockies. If you've read "Finding Home", then this is a good sequel and if you haven't then I suggest you start with that, because they're both first class.
