Love You, Maine #2

Love You Again

Rate this book
An unexpected rescue rekindles an old romance between a single dad widower and a woman caught in a small town scandal that made her flee the one place where she belongs. Can a second chance at first love end in a happily ever after?

Luke Luview has given up on love.
Finally ready to let go of his late wife’s clothes, the grieving small-town police officer and single dad thinks he’s hearing things when he opens the charity box door. Who knocks from the inside of a donation bin?

The raccoon he assumes is in there turns out to be way prettier – and very familiar. Rescuing the first girl he ever kissed means life has dealt him a wild card with Kylie Hood, his late wife’s best friend who left town suddenly fifteen years ago under a cloud of scandal.

Kylie Hood will never depend on a man again. Dumped by her boyfriend and fired by his parents from her children’s programming job at their ski resort in rural Maine, she hits rock bottom while throwing out her ex’s clothes — along with her phone and car keys.

Being rescued by Luke Luview, of all people, is a gift and a curse. The boy she once loved is now all grown up, everything her ex wasn’t – and absolutely off limits.

Accepting his offer to be his temporary nanny while she job searches in New York City, Kylie falls hard for his sweet daughter, and even harder for Luke. A clause in her employment contract means they can’t fraternize, but fate has other plans, and forbidden fruit is twice as sweet.

As the town she reluctantly left years ago accepts her more and more, and Luke makes it clear he wants a second chance with her in their close-knit community, Kylie has to decide: an exciting new career in Manhattan on her own, or an instant family and a sense of belonging in her small hometown?

And as Luke wrestles with the pain of being left behind by his wife’s accidental death, he has to balance his responsibilities to his daughter with his own needs. Needs he’s ignored for far too long.

Needs only Kylie can meet.

But not if she leaves.

Can Luke and Kylie rekindle their first love and find a new future together in a place where love conquers all?

If you’re looking for a fun read about first kisses and second chances, featuring a hot single-dad police officer and his accidental nanny, set in a small town in New England, with a golden retriever named Jester, a heroine whose dream in life is to run a fairy camp, and a hero who wants to build a place where everyone belongs–then this is your book.

Quirky small towns are one of my favorite settings, and there's none more quirky and charming than Luview, Maine, where romance is in the air and the town theme is all things love. If I hadn’t already fallen in love with this town from Kellan's story, this second chance romance would have sealed it for me. And if that's not enough, Luke and Kylie's reunion meet cute is the best I’ve ever seen!

Picture this. You’re a member of the town's founding family and a police officer who lost your wife in a senseless accident. You're finally ready to get rid of the last of her belongings and move on with your life. You take a ride outside of town (because nosey neighbors and you don’t want to see your late wife's clothes walking around town). You head to the donation bin, open the bin door, and hear a voice. What the??

Kylie Hood is not having the best Thanksgiving. Her boyfriend broke up with her in a text (yep, we all agree he's a dog!) and she's getting rid of the last of his stuff. She opens the donation bin door, tosses in the bags, and somehow her keys and phone follow. What choice does she have but to go in after them? And did I mention, it's night time? In November. In Maine. Brrr.

There are so many things about this one that I love, and Kent did an extraordinary job crafting this story with all of the elements perfectly placed for optimal emotional impact. There's so much life and color to this town and it's unusual characters, it's as if they reached out from the page and pulled me into the story. Then there's the Luview family, with their good-natured teasing and unwavering support who made me wish I could become an honorary Luview. Add to that two people who belong together finding their HEA, some surprising secrets, and an adorable, precocious little girl, and this one had me hypnotized with every word.

I couldn’t decide if I should speed through it to find out how it ended or slow way down and luxuriate in this amazing story. This romance isn’t just an escape, it's an experience. One that I loved every minute of and wished I could stay in forever. With laugh-out-loud, snort-inducing humor, blush-worthy chemistry, and masterful heartstring manipulation, this one deserves all the stars. It will leave you with a full heart, a happy sigh and a euphoric high, so make sure you don’t miss it!

M/F Second-Chance Romance

LOVE YOU AGAIN is the second book in the series, set in small-town Luview "Love You", Maine. The town that loves everything red or heart. Even the police cars are pink to show their love.

The opening of this story is both hilarious and sweet, all wrapped in a warm poncho. You meet Kylie. She's back in the town where she feels like she grew up. After a disastrous breakup and consequential firing from her job, Kylie is back to figure out what she truly wants now. Kylie knows that she wants to find someone to love but feels like that's a million miles away for her.

When Luke, the local police officer, finally decides that it's time to start moving forward instead of just existing, he finds himself at a clothing donation box. His wife had a tragic accident and he's been slightly lost without her. But his daughter, Harriet, needs him. She's hilarious, fun, energetic, and he loves her dearly. His family has done all they can to help out in his time of grief, but with a little push from them, he knows that it's time to move forward in his life. What he doesn't expect is to find Kylie.

Now that Kylie and Luke have seen each other, it's sparks all over again. But with a past that hurts still and unanswered questions looming, can Luke and Kylie make their professional relationship work?

Harriet and Kylie form a bond that is so sweet. And while the past is still out there, Kylie hopes that she can forge a new path forward. With her eye on the prize, will she get side-tracked back in her hometown?

You'll be cheering for this couple to find a way. Secrets are discovered, love is in the air, but can Luview work its magic with these two? You won't be disappointed and I can't wait for more Luview couples.

I have been waiting for Luke's story since I read the first book in this series. Losing his wife in the way he did was painful to read, so he needed to get his happily ever after.

After several months of waiting for her ex-boyfriend to come get his stuff, Kylie takes his belongings to the closest donation drop-off bin. While dropping a bag through the door, her phone and keys fall in too. Now she is stuck in the cold with no phone to call for help and no keys to crank her car and stay warm. She falls into the dark and nasty bin when she tries to reach through the drop-off door. Now she has her phone and keys but no cell signal. After waiting a while, someone finally comes along.

Luke didn't expect someone to answer when he drops the clothes from the day his wife died in the donation bin. He is surprised to find Kylie stuck in the bin.

Kylie is now back in the town where she grew up and she can't believe Luke is still here. Luke offers her a job as his nanny, and she accepts, telling him she is only in town for a few months. He plans on changing her mind and she stays in town and with him. And what better place for a second chance than in Luview (Love You), Maine.

I loved everything about this story, it was filled with funny scenes, heartbreaking past pain, love, and a happily ever after. Luke, Kylie, and Harriet were the main characters, but you have to love his family and friends and her sister. Everyone was all for them getting together, including the whole town. I cannot wait for Luke's sister, Colleen's, story in LOVE YOU MORE.

Love You Again is the second book in the Love You, Maine series set in small-town Luview "Love You", Maine with a town that welcomes you like a warm blanket on a cold night and cast of colorful and fun characters that you are sure to love.

Luke lost his wife when she was taking a walk to a driver who had a heart attack at just the wrong moment. He and all of his family have done their best to move forward and take good care of Harriet, Amber and Luke's now six-year-old daughter. Now, two years later, he is taking one more small step toward healing and donating the clothes they wore the day of the accident.

Kylie was born and raised in Luview, Maine until her dad has an affair. Then their Mom picked the girls up and moved to Rio, Indiana almost overnight. Kylie and Luke were camp counselors and shared their first kiss just before that move. It broke Kylie's fifteen year old heart to move but even more when one day Luke quit answering her e-mails and blocked her social media account. She and Perry met in college and have been together for seven years. She got a job at his parent's ski resort in Maine managing the children's programing for all the Nordicbeth ski resorts. Now Perry dumped her over the phone for his "soulmate" he met in Thailand and his parents fired her from her job. Kylie's sister, Wendy, moved to be with her but very soon she is leaving for Paris to work as an au pair. Kylie is getting rid of the rest of Perry's items at an out of town donation drop box.

Guess where the two meet again? Luke needs a new nanny for Harriet and Kylie is more than qualified. It takes them a long time to get past their individual pasts and their own past as a couple to find each other but it is quite a journey and the whole town of "Love You" is betting on when they will get together. This sometimes laugh-out-loud and sometimes tear inducing journey of healing brings some magic and Christmas wonder to Love You for Luke and Kylie and little Harriet.

When I first fell in love with Ms. Kent's stories it was the "Shopping For..." series. I thought that nothing would come close to the love I have for that series.

Then she goes and blows that out of the water with this new series! I want to move to Luview, I want to walk the streets, I want to meet the townsfolk and become one with them.

This story of Luke and Kylie is going to make you laugh and cry. It's going to make you feel all the feels.

This is the story of finding room in your shattered heart to find love again. To be blessed with the opportunity of having two loves of a lifetime.

I admired how Luke's deceased wife was gently brought into the story but didn't overpower it. I loved the back story of Kylie and Luke and sharing their first. I laughed out loud at the "meet-cute" that Ms. Kent created (she has the best!) And I loved how Ms. Kent describes the town and the people of Luview. She takes the reader by the hand and takes them for a walk along main street. As a reader, it was so easy to "see" the town and the people.

I am a hardcore fan of Julia Kent and this series has just turned up the fangirl in me up to an eleven...(I am showing my age with this reference, but if you know, you know!)

This is a delightful read. Kylie and Luke, teenage sweethearts, are reunited in less than perfect, but hilarious and poignant circumstances. With the crazy, but lovable inhabitants of Luview and the rest of the family, we had another foray into the lives and loves of a community I have grown to love. The magic is enhanced by the warmth and loving nature of Kylie, her relationship with sweet Harriet and the rebirth of an old relationship. I love a second chance romance and while there is a thread of sadness that permeates the story, it is well handled and written with proper affection.
Funny, witty with great world building, Love You Again has provided me with more very happy hours of reading. 💖💖💖💖💖

So we already loved this small, sweet town from the first book and we love it even more in this book. Our FMC, Kylie, starts off heartbroken and unemployed as she is dumped and fired all in one go. Our MMC, Luke, is also heartbroken but it’s trudging along through like for the sake of his daughter. Fate find them together and of course, sparks fly. They are childhood sweethearts that were never more than that. Julia has a beautiful way of telling stories and her writing is so funny. Kylie is a woman we can all relate with. She wants to have a family and be loved but also doesn’t want to depend on anyone or put her career on hold for the sake of raising a family knowing it could all be gone in a matter of moments. I think she really embodies that insecurity if taking that leap of faith and putting trust in the process of following your heart and making choices of what’s best for your future.

So I read and loved the prequel to this whole series, but haven’t read the first book. But since these are basically stand-alones connected by town and family characters, that wasn’t an issue to how much I ended up enjoying this one. While this wasn’t as much of a hilarious laugh every other minute story as some of the other books by this author that I love, it still had both romance and some good humor. For instance, a bridge that always gets trucks crashing because they don’t pay attention to the actual measurements of the bridge. We’ve got one of those in my town.

However in the story, the truck happens to be transporting a giraffe, lol. The humor of the moment with the truck though does get transformed into some drama and emotions for Luke. Now, I couldn’t quite picture the police uniforms for some reason. They were red or pink at times, because of the city’s theme. I think this would be such a fun city to visit, or even live in, if I could do a small town.

This book had the perfect mix of emotional situations, funny banter and situations, and romance to make it all come together. There were parts when I was telling her not to do what she was going to do, even though I knew she had to, and knew it was part of the story. And then there was the part towards the end I was so mad at Luke! But the story all came together perfectly in the end. I love the whole town, all the little stories we got about different people and stores as the story proceeded. I can’t wait for the rest of the family’s stories, as well as I need to find time to go back and fit in the copy of the first book I already have sitting on my shelf!

It was ok. That really says it all. This is a very slow burn and that is fine; Luke is a struggling widower-father whose heart is still broken. Kylie got dumped on the phone and is struggling as well. (the relationship she is out of was supposedly 7 years which was totally unbelievable. It took her that long to realize he was a total douche??). They knew each other as teens and a lot of water has gone under the bridge. There was a lot of repetition about the town itself and a lot about many peripheral characters.
Kylie becomes Luke's nanny (to adorable Harriet) and there is a clause in the work contract that says no fraternization. The entire town has a bet going on how long it will be before they have sex. That whole line in the story was just offensive and sooooo juvenile. Even Luke's mother bets? and the woman who is trying to get Luke for herself bets? It was so stupid and was brought up just about every page. Yuck. Give me real content and not just regurgitating their issues over and over and the stupid when will they f##ck crap. Luke was a real jerk near the end - like wow levels of jerkiness (right after he said I love you) - just several pages before he blew up he mentioned that Kylie was looking for jobs in NY, and then when he finds out she has an interview, he completely cuts her out with no discussion. I ended up not really liking either one of them or the supporting characters. I am done with Love You, Maine.

This is the second book in the "Love You, Maine" series by Julia Kent. This is Luke and Kylie's story and their second chance at connecting with each other and hopefully finding love once again. Luke and Kylie were sweethearts 15 yrs ago until Kylie's mother packed up her family and left town because of what Kylie's father did. Fifteen years later Kylie is in town and is stuck in a donation box when Luke comes to her rescue. The sparks are still there but Kylie thinks that Luke is married. Luke finds himself in a bind when his nanny quits. Harriet - his daughter - falls in love with Kylie immediately. Fairy muffins will do that to a child. Kylie finds out what happened to Luke's wife after asking the question - where is she? Sparks continue between the two. Kylie is looking for a job in New York, will she go, will she give in to what she feels for Luke? Oh yeah there is a pool in the town to when and if they will get together. Will they give into the things they feel? Will Luke finally move on and put what happened to his wife behind him and give into his feelings for Kylie? Well for the answers to those questions you really should read this book along with the rest of the series! Julia Kent continues to pull me in with her books, each one better than the last. Tale a chance you will not be sorry. I wish to thank Julia Kent for the opportunity to read this in advance of its release.

Book 2 in The Love You Maine series - an adorable fun read about a town where every day is Valentine's Day! Some say it's corny, I think it's bloody brilliant, it's cool, it's cute, it's heartfelt, it's deep and it cares - what more could you possibly want for a small town romance?!

The LuView family have 4 kids, Kell (who is in book 1), Dennis who is away in the military, Colleen who is unlucky in love and then we have Luke who this is about....
Luke is a single dad trying to get over the tragic accident that caused his wife Amber's death when in steps Kylie, the girl he had his first kiss with, and who has one heck of a story as to how he helped her out of a bind the first time they reconnected 🤣🤣

It's an adorable story which has plenty of giggles, thoroughly enjoyed it and thoroughly enjoying this series! Julia Kent has once again produced a book that I could easily reread, full of characters who I would love to meet! I can't wait for more 🤗

After the tragic loss of his wife Luke is trying to move forward with his life and be the best father he can for his daughter Harriet. He has decided that it is time to gift his wife’s clothing to the people who need it but he never expected that a trip to the donation bin would not only have him dropping items off but also have him bringing home a woman from his past.

Kylie didn’t think her life could get any worse as it’s been turned upside down both personally and professionally, but she now finds herself in a donation bin. Not only does he rescue her from the situation she finds herself in but he offers her a job as his nanny and that is when the fun really begins.

The romance between them is both humorous and heartwarming as they must not only deal with the past but decide what and who they want in their future. The characters of Luke and Kyle are captivating and there is a great cast of eccentric secondary characters that only enhance the story.

I love second chance romance! This one started out super sweet with all this seemingly open communication which I loved. Until one character took a 180 about 85% of the way through and totally confused me. I know the formula is for a 3 act conflict but this character was acting like he was surprised by the heroine interviewing for jobs in NY when he’d actually been bringing it up that he knew. Happily the slow burn finally got there and the HEA all worked out. Hoping for better with Colleen and Moore’s story.

I absolutely luvved this story of Luke and Kylie. The township of Luview had me alternating through huge laughter, a few teary moments and twinges of longing. (I'm from an East Coast small town and my goal is to move back home). "Love you again" played out as a movie in my mind, especially through so many hilarious scenes. This could definitely be a stand alone book, but having luvved the other 'Love You' books, I'm thrilled to anticipate the rest.

Luke Luview needs to get back to living after losing his wife Amber in a freak accident. Kylie Hart born and raised in Love You, left like a thief in the night when her father bragged about cheating on his wife at the local watering hole. Fast forward she is back and purging her life of her dead beat ex boyfriend Perry. On the same they decide to purge their lives, they find themselves in an hilarious situation. Can two people who were badly hurt, rekindle a first kiss? Page turning, enteraining, hilarious story, where fairies are alive and little girls thrive! Harriet, Luke's and the rest of the Luviews and the town folks are all betting on a HEA! I volunteered to review this fabulous story.

Luke is a widowed dad who carries too much pain to look for love again. His world is his daughter, his family and his job as Luview police office.

Kylie once was a townie until her father jilted her mother, which made her mother take Kylie and her sister out of state. Now, 15 years later, Kylie is back. But, only long enough to dump her cheating ex-boyfriend's belongings in a donation box. At least, that was her plan.

The reacquaintance of Luke and Kylie is hilarious. And what follows will melt you heart, make you laugh even more and bring tears of sadness and joy to your eyes.

The Luview family is a wonder of heartfelt love for their town and the people in it. The love of Luke and Kylie is bright and beautiful with a touch of giggles and an adorable little girl you will love with your whole heart.

It is always so difficult to find new words to describe one of Julia Kent's stories because each book always draws me in so completely. Love You, Maine is, in itself, a major character of this series and I'm living vicariously through all the characters who love the town. If you haven't read Love you Right, or it's prequel, Love you Wrong, I would absolutely recommend it as you will get so much context and history that will enrich this story for you. A second chance romance in the most romantic town ever is what you will find within these pages along with some painful, emotional memories for our main characters. You will also find some of the most hilarious hijinks right from the very beginning. This is something Julia Kent does so very well and she gives it all to us wrapped up in a beautiful scarf (you'll have to read it to understand the significance of said scarf). I spent 1/2 my time reading passages to my husband who happens to enjoy the comedy as well.

I ADORED this second installment in the Love You, Maine series! Second chance romance is my personal crack. Add to it an adorable kid, hot mess of a dog, an entire big family and incredibly nosy town (who among us DOESN'T want to take a bet in the pool on when they're gonna get together?), and you have a delightful read that will have you falling in love over and over again.

Love You Again is Julia Kent's second book in the Love You, Maine series. I read the first and was a little disappointed in the book. I have to say I enjoyed this second book a little more. I'm giving this one 3.5 stars.

Like the first, it is a slow burn, with plenty of flirting and lingering moments but it takes them a while to get their act together. It's a second-chance romance with the characters being high school boyfriend/girlfriend. It is also a single-parent romance with the male MC having a young daughter. I really like both the main characters. Luke Luview is struggling after the death of his wife, now raising their daughter with the help of his family in the small town he loves. Kylie Hood is back in Maine after moving away at 15, she hasn't reached out to anyone she used to know not feeling comfortable after being away so long. They are both strong characters having their own share of issues to deal with but they find that together things are better and the spark between them from high school is still there.

It was really nice to have Luke find some happiness, you were able to really feel his pain in this and the first book. He really did deserve his HEA.

Like the first book, there were times when I thought the story dragged or we had a lot of things going on that seemed unnecessarily in-depth in relation to the story. Overall, it was a lovely story that had plenty of emotion, some fun light moments, and plenty of heart.

If like me you read the first and were disappointed give this one a go too, Luke's story really is lovely. Even with the flaws I felt the book had, I did enjoy reading it.

Kylie is living so close but not in her hometown of Luview, she moved back to Maine with her boyfriend Perry to work at the Nordicbeth resort. Now though he's gone, her job is gone, and her sister is about to be gone heading to Paris to work. Leaving her alone with a three-month lease to find a new job and get her life back together. In an effort to cleanse herself of Perry she ends up in a situation she could have never seen coming.

Luke is still hurting 2 years after losing his wife, just like every Thanksgiving since her death he's not celebrating but this year he wants to take steps to find a way forward if not for him then for their daughter Harriet. When getting rid of the reminders of that day he's shocked to find his first love Kylie in trouble and after rescuing her he can't stop thinking about her.

When she shows up at his door with a thank you for helping her it couldn't be better timing. His nanny has just quit and he needs to be at work. Kylie offers to take care of Harriet as her thank you for him and since his options are limited while most of his family are away for the holidays he leaves Kylie and Harriet. While gone Kylie tries to make things easier for Luke and her and Harriet have a great day together. When he gets home he feels so relieved as if a weight has lifted with what Kylie has accomplished for the day. He offers her a job on the spot, quickly printing the same contract he used with the last nanny they agree to the terms but it will only be until the 3 months on her lease is up or she finds a job back in New York.

It doesn't take long for the town and Luke and Harriet to start to weave their magic back into Kylie's life. She realizes her fears of not fitting back in after being away for so long are wrong, in fact, this might be the most at home she has felt since she was 15.

Crossing that line between employer and employee gets harder and harder every day. They both want more but can't deny all the reasons they shouldn't. Especially the contract, Number 13 Part A, or as Luke refers to it 'the Don't Bang Your Nanny clause'.

All the chemistry and feelings they shared as teenagers are still there and despite all the reasons they shouldn't there is no denying where they are headed, even everyone in town knows where this is going. When they finally give in to their feelings it's everything they hoped for.
'The second kiss Luke and Kylie ever shared wasn't one she ever expected, but it was one the universe sent to them, inspired by the past, by grief, by shared longing, by serendipity. His lips were warm and strong, the rasp of his inhales intense as he deepend his attention, chest against chest, his hands buried in her hair now, tongue against hers, the heat of their mouths melting everything else away.'

But with so many emotions and so many past details and present unknowns, there is no way to know if they can make it work or if they'll watch it all fall apart and get hurt all over again.

Happy Reading.

Loving the right person

This is another great book, written beautifully by Julia Kent. I’ve read so many of her books, and I’ve never been disappointed. Her books are always written with heart, and love. The characters are always well developed, and the stories are always entertaining.
Luke is one of the police officers in Luview, Maine, a romantically inclined town, where everything is heart shaped, and the only colors allowed, are red, pink, and white. He has gone through the death of his wife, and is left to raise his daughter, Harriet. He is hard working, and his life centers around his little girl, and work. After 2 years of heartbreak, he decides that it’s time to dispose of his memories of the night, that his wife was killed.
Kylie is a hard working young woman, who has been dumped by her boyfriend of 7 years, thru a text message. She is heart broken, and has finally found the strength to get rid of her exes clothes. She goes to a local dumpster, and inadvertently gets trapped there the same dumpster that Luke goes to dump his clothes. This is how Luke and Kylie meet again.
He hires her as his daughters nanny, and Kylie begins to encourage Harriets fairy fantasies. With her teaching degree, she becomes very close to Harriet, and feelings begin between Luke and Kylie. As teenagers, they had been very close, but her parents marital problems, caused them to end their relationship.
The whole town starts a betting board, as to when Luke and Kylie might seal the deal, of their relationship. Luke’s mom invites Kylie to the family Christmas dinner. Things are going well, until Kylie admits that she has a job offer in New York, at the same time that Luke admits hat he loves her. His reaction to her announcement, causes them to break-up.
Kylie goes to New York, for the interview, but feels it’s not what she really wants. Luke goes to New York to find Kylie, and apologize, and they finally open up about their true feelings, and they admit that they love each other.
Luke and Kylie return to Luview, and begin to help repair the camp grounds, that will be the home of all the Luview family. As Luke and Kylie get closer, they finally reach their HEA.
This book was full of good feeling moments, and family, and small town closeness. I completely recommend this book, or any book written by Julia Kent.
