Love You Right: Small Town Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy (Love You, Maine Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,821 ratings

A missed opportunity five years ago makes for an unexpected encounter now between two people meant for each other – but who square off in a very public battle of wills in the small town of Love You, Maine, where every day is Valentine's Day. Can love conquer all in a town steeped in it?

Kell Luview refuses to be a sucker at love again. Five years ago, he left D.C. with his tail between his legs and his heart broken. Fiercely protective of his small town in rural Maine, he's determined to save the family tree business and avoid his feelings at all costs, no matter how much he longs to solve the mystery of what happened in D.C.

L.A. native Rachel Hart hates being underestimated almost as much as she hates this small town. She has two goals on this trip: get out of the cheesy tourist trap of Love You, Maine with a completed business deal, and avoid running into Kell, her old friend from D.C. who never became an old flame because of a huge misunderstanding.

One that still aches.

When her rental car breaks down on a logging road and Kell comes to her rescue, it's clear he's a changed man – and not for the good. Grumpy and reserved, he pushes all her buttons, still stubbornly convinced she betrayed him all those years ago. He's never forgiven her, and she's never forgiven herself for carrying a torch for him.

An embarrassing incident gets the town gossip mill going when residents wrongly assume Kell and Rachel are the newest couple to find love in the most romantic place on Earth. But the townsfolk aren't wrong for long...

As Rachel breaks through his defenses and charms the town, he faces his biggest fear: all those pesky feelings he's been avoiding.

Because they're all about Rachel now.

And maybe they always were.

Can Kell and Rachel fight their growing attraction in the one place in the world where you can't avoid love?

If you're looking for a fun read about enemies to lovers, forced proximity, heroines who get their comeuppance and sworn bachelors felled by unexpected true love, featuring a hot bearded lumberjack impervious to poison ivy, and a city-slicker, jaded career woman with a penchant for great coffee, set in a small town in New England - then this is your book.

Grab a cup of (properly good) coffee, a can of hot cocoa mix, a jar of Fluff and maybe some calamine lotion (just in case), and get your happymeter ready as you read the very first book in New York Times bestselling romantic comedy author Julia Kent's Love You, Maine series - where love isn't just a feeling - it's a way of life.

Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 4 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French and German, with more titles releasing in the future.

From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire she met in a romantic comedy).

Sweet, quirky and full of love
Love You Right is a delightful read. If you've read any of Julia's previous book, you'll know she is the queen of awkward and cringey yet somehow hilarious moments, and this book is true to form. With great characters, a lot of feels, some truly out there moments and a delicious slow burn, Kell and Rachel's story is a tale of friendship, family, love and loyalty with a sugary backdrop of the cheesiest, most love obsessed little town that makes you wish you could visit and is sure to have you falling in love. 4 stars and a heart shaped chocolate

She’s done it again, this time with a quirky, inviting, small New England town where love is the answer to everything. This crafty storyteller has created a fictional world so charming and delightful I’d give anything to visit it in real life. In Love You, Maine, every day is Valentine's Day with festivals all year long that celebrate love.

Kell Luview and Rachel Hart have a history (see the prequel, Love You Wrong). They left things on the worst note possible five years ago when Kell moved back home and Rachel left for a job in Los Angeles. But Rachel is back in Kell's orbit, tasked with buying a local business for her big business conglomerate boss to add to their numerous acquisitions.

Kell has a successful business getting rid of poison ivy. Not just anyone would do this job, and Kell prides himself on performing a valuable service. That, and helping his father with the family tree removal business keeps Kell busy and his mind focused on the present. Rachel Hart showing up in his town brings back all the reasons he returned to Maine, and all the bad feelings and wounded pride associated with it. But Fate has her own plan, and sometimes the one we don’t want is the one who suits us perfectly.

While Rachel Hart put the misunderstanding with Kell behind her, she still misses her best friend. But the grouchy, stubborn, infuriating mountain man rescuing her from her stranded car has little resemblance to the guy she once knew. Her plan is to avoid this version of her ex-friend and close the deal so she can keep her job. But small-town charm and loving acceptance have a way of stealing the heart of a girl who feels like she has no place, and no one, she belongs to.

Kent kicks the comedy into high hear with colorful townsfolk, a misguided randy moose, and the coolest cat on the planet, Calamine, the Main Coon Cat. She then masterfully manipulates heartstrings with a town working tirelessly together when one of their own is in need, and a complicated, bumpy road to forever full of forgiveness, acceptance, and second chances. Equally hilarious and heartfelt, with a little heat added in, this funny, touching, feel-good read will be one of your very best romantic comedy reads this year! Run. 1-Click. Read. You can thank me later.

Loved this book. Julia Kent first brought us Kellan and Rachel in the prequel "Love you Wrong", a friend to lover office romance that then becomes an enemies to nothing in that book. It's 5 years later and Kellan is back home in Luview (love you) Maine. Rachel now works for a big conglomerate that sends her to the one place on earth she doesn't want to go to: Luview for a business deal. Luview is big on Valentines cause of the sounding of the small town name. Rachel is still deeply hurt that Kellan never let her explain her side of things that happened in d.c. Her rental breaks down, a big grumpy bearded lumberjack tries to save the day but they end up in a sticky situation. Of course the lumberjack is Kell. A few more embarrassing moments happen to Rachel thru out this book but she finally gets her say and goes off on him. He doesn't truly trust her from years before, sabotages her business meeting then sends major mixed signals. After everything that happens and Rachel gets her say he realizes how wrong he was.
We get some truly hysterical moments, some deeply sad moments, wonderful characters thru out. I laughed, cried and overall loved this story. Can't wait for the next one

OMG, this book was so good, and Julia Kent has written another successful story. It was hard to put the book down, once I started reading, it was so addictive. The whole story flowed so easily, with great characters, closeness of family, and a town where everybody knows about everyone’s life. This small town has a closeness, and almost everyone is related somehow. The love in the town is felt throughout the full length of the book, and everyone knows your business.
Kell is a the local puller of poison Ivy, and a works with his dad’s tree service. He has returned to his hometown after having been disillusioned with his life and job in DC. He has basically become a mountain man to cover all his insecurities. He now lives in town without any kind of life.
Rachel is Kell’s former best friend, while they both lived in DC, and she has lived the last five years with the hurt that Kell had caused. She has come into Luview, Maine, to attempt to convince the local chocolate factory, into selling their store to a big conglomerate business.
While in Luview, several incidents occur to Rachel, that are hilarious, like having to deal with a thieving squirrel, a love sick moose, and a lack of internet, and the towns dislike of her.
After spending time in Luview, Rachel begins to fall in love with the town, townspeople, and Kell. They finally come to an understanding, and he begins to treat her better. Eventually they develop a relationship, and obtain their HEA.
I will always recommend any books written by Julia Kent.

Somewhat funny, but as always she makes her female MC's chaotic. Sometimes it gets to be too much. Why does the author always have to make her female MC's ditzy or accident-prone? Sometimes I get to the point where I don't want to finish , so I put the book down and pick it up later. Will I read the next book? Maybe. I'm not sure at this time.

I loved this book. First in an amazing new series by Julia Kent. I don't know how she comes up with such amazing characters and glorious plots. I am just forever thankful that she does. I can already say with certainty this series is going to be one of her best / the best. I have loved every book she has written but I truly believe this will be a phenomenonal series.
Kell and Rachel are both people that jump straight in and are fully committed. So when Kell feels betrayed he won't let it go or listen to reason. Five years later and grudges have been festering. Can Kell ever forgive Rachel for what he thinks she did or will his pride win out.
Calamine, Randy and Satan will make you scream, laugh, cry and melt. Better co stars you will not find.
I was total engrossed by the words on the page. I have already ordered the next three in the series.
Jump in, you won't regret it. I can't recommend this book, series and author enough 🥰

There were aspects of comedy in this novel. However, I just wanted the relationship to flourish much earlier. Kel was just being too pig headed to listen to Rachel and this idea kept repeating itself way too much. The ending came way too quickly. I loved Kel’s mum. I like the township of love you. I just wanted a bit more depth in a relationship between Kel and Rachel. Overall a good story.

Enjoyed this so much more than expected. The characters have depth, drama and comedic moments intertwine with a deft touch. Fell in love with the family and the town, want to read the rest of the series.
