An Offworlder With A Divine Class. A Murderous King Who Wants Him Dead. Can He Level Up Fast Enough To Stop An Entire Kingdom’s Destruction?
Kazro never asked for the quest. With nothing but a broken interface and dogged determination, he sets out to deliver a ceremonial scythe to a princess he’s never met. But when he glimpses her in the crowd, a jolt of familiarity strikes like thunder. Before he can uncover the truth, chaos erupts—the King of the Sundust Reaches storms the city, smacks Kazro aside, and abducts the royal family for a mass sacrifice.
Desperation drives Kazro to wield the ceremonial scythe and in so doing, he unlocks a startling secret. A trapped god awakens, bestowing him with the divine class of Transcendent. But as the Mad King flees and an assassin closes in, Kazro feels the crushing weight of his newfound power. Every second demands he fight or face a swift and brutal death.
As the kingdom faces its darkest hour, will Kazro rise to conquer the Mad King—or fall to the forces seeking his complete and utter annihilation?

About the author

Hatch here! By way of introduction, I’m a LitRPG/Gamelit novelist intent on writing at least six books a year. I steer more towards the epic side of things, thanks to my love of Tolkien and Sanderson, but every one of my books are, at their core, progressive. There’s a lot I could say about myself, but let me boil everything down to the basics . . .
I was born in Hollywood, I lived in a treehouse during the pandemic, my favorite anime is "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," I love Jesus, two of the coolest prophets were Elijah and his apprentice Elisha (the former rode a friggin’ flaming chariot into heaven!), and the best SNES game of all time is "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars."
I have a nest of dragons on my kitchen counter, a full grown chocobo in my backyard, and a giant multicolored egg lodged in my roof. My hope is to one day fill my home with fantastic beasts of every kind, then move out to the countryside and start up a magical preserve. Most of these creatures are endangered (as you are well aware) and it is my hope to keep them from fading out of existence.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025While the plot was great, the characters are where this book truly shines, in my opinion. The characters are 3 dimensional, and quite human (figuratively). I really loved that the author makes no attempts to hide the fact that all of the central characters are flawed and damaged people trying to survive in this world while also dealing with the demons of their own pasts. That the complexity of each character’s emotional states threads skillfully through the main plot, is just - chef’s kiss-
The world building was well done, but without much depth. As I previously mentioned, the MC has a pretty narrow world view, and it’s likely that the world building will develop further as the MC looks beyond the scope of his personal sphere. The magic system is fairly genre-standard for most characters, but the MC has a refreshingly different skill set which helps this book establish itself as individual, rather than a carbon copy of the standard.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see how things develop in the sequel. 9/10
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2025Different style of fighting with a reaper as the main weapon, with different styles of magic to fill in the weak spots. Flashback growth throughout book to merge pervious experiences with current growth. Multiple point of views to give more context. Will warn though abusive parts can be difficult to read and some thick plot armor.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2025I find that the most interesting thing in this book is the way the MC's magic works, trying not to spoil too much, but bonding and almost crafting of transcendent weapons was a delight. The MC is dealing with a ton of trauma from his past and it is a big part of the story. Unlike many books in the LitRPG Genre I've read/listened to, overcoming external obstacles takes a back seat to the internal struggles of everyone. The trauma theme is almost overdone and at times, hard to read because the action is a lot of fun here and I find myself wanting to slog through some of the less fun parts. It is also somewhat obvious that the author is very educated in style, structure and vocabulary, but at times some of the words I would call a little "high brow" for the style of book I feel they are going for. I had to actually look up a couple. That being said, it's a tremendous effort for a new author and I gave it 5-stars when I'd give a more veteran author less. The story itself is fun and I look forward to the next installment.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2025This genre often has a lot of subpar books, but I can happily say, this was NOT one of them. This book was well written and kept me turning pages. I found myself wanting to pick it back up at all times. I was even reading it during work when I had a few spare minutes just to get another page down. (Please dont tell my boss). The pacing is fast enough to keep your interest, but not so fast you lose quality or details. And the characters are fantastic. Well thought out, and the character development is clear and makes sense. I see this book being a contender for a top spot among others in the genre. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 20254.5 stars - The Legend of Kazro is an incredible novel that had me hooked from the first page. The world-building, character development, and all the twists and turns had me in suspense the whole time. I love that the MC is relatable by how he deals with anxiety and fear. I also think it truly is beautiful how the MC grows as a character and shows courage and bravery. The supporting characters in the story are truly so wonderful and they bring so much to the overall story. My favorite character in the story is Scarlet. She’s just amazing and I love her so much. If you love The Legend of Zelda vibes, litrpg, fantasy, magic, adventure, mystery, and video games then I highly recommend reading this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2025I enjoyed this book for the most part.
Well written with an interesting world and magic system.
I enjoyed the characters and the everything else in general.
However, I didn't like the switching back and forth between the new world the mc found himself in and the old world of his memories, it pulled me out of the story flow, but that's a small complaint
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2025I liked almost everything about the book and have no major complaints. It had good character development and speed and kept me engaged.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2025I was given an advanced copy of this work by the author. Trigger warning for sensitive readers, there are depictions of domestic abuse and bullying in the MC's past. The MC spends much of the book coping and working on the trauma caused by this. This coping makes for an interesting read in a genre where this stage of development is often glossed over. Further trigger warning for use of the f-slur, which for me detracted from the book as the use added nothing to the work and could be substituted with something else.
The mechanics developed in the story are also refreshing and fresh. Not only is the leveling different than many in the genre but there is an item augmentation mechanic that is very interesting to read and follow within the story.
The world building within the story, core to the above mentioned mechanics, is well done and keeps the reader hooked as it unfurls as you progress through the story, learning more as the MC does. It helps the reader connect with the MC as you grow with him and understand as he does.
The side characters are well developed, augmenting the story with their perspectives and growth as they act as counter points to the MC or add to his growth and strength as a whole. They brighten otherwise very heavy and dark scenes or help the MC process through the traumas he has experienced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read
I thought I'd give this book a try after seeing the blurb on a FB group I'm part of. I found it a good twist to the usual reincarnation isekai books, the MC is weak to strong mentally unstable hero trying to be better while feeling like he's not good enough. MC and his companions set out on a mission to not just save the princess but the rest of her family and the kingdom.
Really enjoyed the MC using a scythe as his main weapon, this means there's a good bit of not only character development but background about the MC and his friend, while also having a good bit of action.
My only real complaint is that Gaia is written as a man so it causes a bit of a mental stutter when your expecting Gaia to be referred to as a woman.
Looking forward to book two,. Keep up the good work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read
I had the chance to read the book before its release, not sure if I'd like it in the beginning. I ended up not being able to put it down. Awesome first book, can't wait to read more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting take
This is an interesting take on isekai. The hero has some real issues he is working on. He starts really weak and unable to leave a room to saving people. There is real development of the characters. Its a good read

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic addition to the LitRPG Genre
Once I had started reading this book I found it hard to put down, often lying in bed after hours reading until my eyes were heavy and I couldn't read anymore. Drr Hatch brings a great addition to the LitRPG genre. Well written and a great story bringing Kazro from a humble peasant into a true Guardian. I look forward to seeing how the series progresses in the future. Well done on a great book. You have me hooked for the series.
