About the author

A lover of all things happily ever after, Jodie Larson has always been a romantic at heart. Blame it on her sign, but Cancers are hopeless romantics. This is why her stories are filled with swoony moments and even swoonier men because the world could use a little more love.
Jodie lives along the shores of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota with her family, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and all the voices in her head. She began her writing career early, getting poems published in Seventh Grade, then moved on to writing Sweet Valley High fanfic in her spare time. Fast forward several years, and she finally got the courage to write her first novel, Fated to be Yours. In addition to the many stories rolling through her head, she's an avid reader and doesn't shy away from a good challenge.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2016This book was a fun and easy read... Nice when your ready for a love story with just enough angst, love, not only HS drama, but also the forbidden, and steamy sex..
Britta is a HS senior who just celebrated her 18th bday. She is extremely mature for her age and working as a student aid when she literally walks into the most attractive man she has ever laid eyes on, Jackson. He has the exact feeling.. Both thinking different thoughts, Jackson (She is a student - she is in the student lounge) and Britta (He is the hottest Sr. Ever! Because he is sooo young) This is a darling and sexy book of their love affair...
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2020Really enjoyed this book. It’s a tiny bit insta-love for my normal tastes but there was still a nice long build up. Mr Dumont is so sweet and I actually bought Britta’s maturity level without having it shoved down my throat constantly by the author. If a teenager is mature I should feel it in actions and speech, the author shouldn’t have to repeatedly tell me she’s mature for her age. Larson does this expertly.
Besides the main characters I thought her brother and group of friends were really well done as well. I was invested in them and I was so proud of her male friends who were just straight up good guys.
I generally prefer a larger age gap in my student teacher romances but the 4 years made it more believable plus let the friendship with her slightly older brother cement things in place.
Just very well done and definitely enjoyed it. Promise.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2019I absolutely loved the characters. They were young and she was more mature about the relationship. I like that they took care of each other. The friends were awesome about the couple and James especially.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2016I love a good story especially a romance story with a twist- the star crossed lovers is a popular high school senior Britta and a handsome young high school teacher James.
When Britta and James first meet at the school, their attraction to each other is instant. Britta assumes James is a student because of his youthful looks and James thinks Britta is a teacher because she assists a teacher and came out from one of the teacher's office correcting papers.
After another run in at a coffee shop, they both feel a connection. They're both surprised when Britta goes to class and James is her teacher. This is when the story went downhill for me.
There wasn't alot of angst or push and pull. It was a brief moment where they knew they couldn't have a relationship and then BAM they're together as a couple.
You have James who wants to be a professor at a college in the near future and its his first time teaching high school. So he's willing to risk his career for a relationship with a gal after only 2 brief meetings? I didn't buy it.
Their relationship happened too quickly. It would have been more interesting and more plausible if James battled with his conscience more and we got to see more why they felt connected other than they like the same books and movies. It's not enough to lose a career for, but James character came across as immature and I couldn't connect with Britta. She read like any other high school girl, there wasn't enough depth to her.
This was written in first POV which I normally don't like, but it was well written. The author captured the high school life perfectly and the dialogue among the supporting characters felt realistic.
However, I had to skip the dialogue between the two main characters. It felt like something you would say to someone after a few dates or a few months of dating not a profession of devotion to each other from two brief encounters?
I'm definitely in the minority of reviews since most of them are positive and mine isn't so favorable. I loved the storyline, but wasn't crazy the way the plot was executed.
Two stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2021The love story between the two main characters was very enjoyable to read. I made it to 58% before I skimmed the rest for the climax and resolution because it was moving along a little slow for my liking. The book is fun, cute, and well written, just ended up being too slow of a burn for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2019Ugh I loved it so much !! So sweet and sexy and just everything it should be ! Totally obsessed with it ! It’s worth the read ! Don’t pass it up !
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2021They crossed the line almost immediately! There was barely any hesitation on his part, and he barely knew her, so to risk his career that quickly? Makes him look like a creep! LIKE, how many students have you gotten with previously, sir?!
Also:
Dialogue was boring.
Her character was typical of these sorts of romances.
It moved too quickly.
Cliche. Cliche. Cliche.
