Let The Light Shine Through: A Small Town Sports Romance Standalone Kindle Edition
Win eight gold medals professionally snowboarding around the world? Check.
Survive the avalanche that claimed my best friend? Check.
Deliver one speech summing up said best friend’s life? Well, Houston, we have a problem.
Here I am, back in my hometown, choking on this eulogy when my eyes land on her. The only one smiling, she’s impossible to miss. The beautiful stranger saves my speech before escaping on her skateboard, leaving me without so much as a name.
Since early retirement winds up being about as much fun as that time I broke my back, it’s a welcome relief to see the funeral crasher again months later, helping me through another low point.
Mysterious, wild, and elusive, Gia doesn’t do commitments, but I made the mistake of letting her skate away from me once. I won’t do it twice.
Little by little, we let each other in…until it comes time for me to return the favor by being her savior, then she tries dodging me all over again.
The rub though? On or off the mountain, boarding’s in my blood.
I’ll catch her.

I’d always planned to fall in love with as many things as possible. Things I could walk away from. Falling in love with Roz was never part of that plan.
"Roz is with me now.”
Putting his feet in front of mine, Roz asks, “Oh, am I?”
“Unless I got it wrong...” I trail off purposely.
“Baby, I’ve been taken since you crashed my best friend’s funeral.
You have me today, tomorrow, and every day after that.
You take up way too much space in my mind for me to be anything but yours, so the better question is...
are you taken?”

Blinded by grief, he abandons his dream, returning to his sleepy hometown in Upstate New York where he intends to drift the rest of his way through life.
While Roz may have sworn off boarding, that doesn't stop him from carving into someone else's line—a local skater who threatens to change everything. Again.
Gia D'Amico only has one plan—to fall in love with everything at least once. Everything, but not everyone.
Sounds simple.
It is simple.
Until the town's most jaded resident puts himself in Gia's way, challenging that plan.
Familiar with loss herself though, Gia recognizes Roz's pain as easily as if it were her own and decides to help restore his appreciation for life. On her terms...and her timeline.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2022Let The Light Shine Through was the emotional and beautiful book that I didn’t know I needed to read right now. This story was captivating and intense. I had to remind myself to breath the entire time I was reading because it just made me feel so much. The beauty she was able to make you see and feel from her words was beyond perfection.
Roz is reeling from the death of his best friend. He’s struggling to find a reason or purpose to get out of bed every day. Gia is living her life with abandon after suffering her own loss and more. From the moment they meet their connection was everything…but Roz needs to learn to live and Gia needs to learn to believe in the future. She fights him at every turn but Roz has never been afraid of a challenge.
Again, I cried so many times with this book. It’s beautiful, poignant and full of reminders that life is a gift that you shouldn’t waste. It’s more sensual than overtly steamy although their chemistry definitely translates into the steam. And don’t worry there are moments of laughter mixed into this story too.
And I haven’t had a line in a book destroy me in a long while but after I read the below I had to stop and collect myself:
“Am I not enough?” His voice breaks, not just in his throat, but me as well. His voice breaks me. How could Roz ever think he’s not enough?
I cannot recommend this book enough!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2022I'm still trying to wrap my head around this elevated, incredibly written book. Let the Light Shine Through is a poignant story about loss and grief and two people dealing in very different ways. It is without a doubt one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful stories I've read in quite some time and it's now on my favorites list.
Gia. My girl Gia. This firecracker of a young woman is loyal and loving, and doing her damn best to make the most of this life. She's lived a full life in spite of her young age, and when she opens her arms to accept you into her circle, YOU SPRINT TO THAT LIGHT! This is just what Roz can't help doing, as shocking to himself as it is. Let's talk about Roz. Holy gut-wrench does this guy break me. He's struggling to move forward day by day and he's a shell of his former self. The way that Gia perceives this so accurately, and the way that she guides him to live life to the fullest is remarkable. Little does she know that Roz will change her own trajectory irreversibly.
I haven't said enough, and this review absolutely doesn't do this book justice. It is a forever must read and I feel so special that A. Marie has chosen to share this story with the world. The story and these characters are enduring, and they will always have a place in my heart. Well over 5 stars deserved for Let the Light Shine Through!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2025I stayed up past 1am 3 nights in a row reading this book because I had to know what was going to happen. Well-rounded, incredibly unique characters you'll come to love, gripping plot. Serious subjects handled delicately. This book has the perfect amount of drama, playfulness, and spice. I loved every minute of it
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2024This one is all heart! Not to much puff and written beautifully.
Read it don't pass it over. Its a great reminder.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2024I never leave reviews but this was so bad I couldn’t help myself. I forced myself through this but with the ending I don’t know why. This was so juvenile but tried to be deep. It literally “built up” to nothing. I lost count of how many times I had to read the word “gawd.” Really? What effect was that supposed to have other than making the reader cringe?
The story was bad, the characters are worse. This is not worth your time.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2022Gahhhh. I’m in awe of the words and characters A. Marie writes. Let The Light Shine Through is such a beautiful story of loss, grief, love, and LIVING.
I immediately fell in love with Roz and Gia. I felt for them and while they have really heavy shit to sift through, there is still humor in this story. Be ready for an emotional, angsty, & STEAMY read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2022This story will pull on all your heart strings. Love Roz and Gia. Their past broke my heart but the love Roz has for Gia is pure and beautiful.
