⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Bookworm4ever (United States)

Perfect for my son

I found this book really interesting so I got one for my son who is 10 years old. He loves it, especially the activities in each chapter.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Elizabeth Gardner (United States)

Great gift for a pre-teen that makes sense out of teen confusion

Tweens should not be managed quite the same way as teens, and the author provides practical, easy to follow tips that specifically focus on tweens.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Tim (United States)

Essential knowledge for tweens

This book covers all the bases. I was most impressed by how many different areas of life skills Ferne was able to cover, while still having the book feel accessible and cohesive. It reads easily, but can be used as a reference as well, with well-laid out chapters and sections. Most of the day to day practical "adulting" advice is up front (budgeting, goals, society), and then it drives deeper, hitting on things like mental health and personal space issues, all too common with preteens today. The reading level is definitely middle school, so I would recommend for kids at least at that age. Excellent work by Ferne Bowe!

This is an excellent and very well written reference for preteens and actually any age! I particularly like the approach of chapters that are very relevant and easy to digest. It can function as a reference book versus cover to cover reading. Both content and format seem written with a contemporary approach, including illustrations and worksheets.
I purchased this for a 10-year-old boy. I am finding that a number of topics we have been discussing are better explained with this reference. I imagine it could also be helpful for teachers to include in short discussion modules as appropriate. As a health and wellness coach, I particularly like the positive perspective, very practical and helpful hints (positivity thinking, breathing and relaxation techniques, addressing fear, communications skills, setting realistic goals and self acceptance ). Highly recommended.

As a bio-mom and foster-mom I love to keep books laying around that have lots of teachable moments in them. This book is absolutely amazing!!! It covers the following subjects: personal development, friends & relationships, emotions, school & learning, health & wellness, cooking skills, happiness skills, caring & sharing, communication skills, practical skills, personal safety, emergencies & first aid and adventure skills.

In addition to an overall description of each subject, the end of all chapters include tips and an activity sheet to help drive the points home. Truly, am essential for any tween or teen.

I bought this book for my tween. Before giving it to her, I did read through majority of it. I like the simplicity of the book, it’s easy to read and not so detailed that a child might get bored with it. That said, as a parent, I do wish there was a little more detail or information on some subjects.

So modern I kept Showing that part to my friends and family lol so up to date!!! Definitely get this for the tweens and teens in your lives, like I said even young adults and adults can benefit!!!! It includes info on managing friendships and relationships, managing money, how to get a job, I could go on and on!

This book taught me a lot even though I am an adult but want to know how to help my kids when they become teenagers. Love the money matter part as it teach the teenagers to become investor and entepunur at early stage . The internet scamming tips is also great as we see teenager being exploited online .this book Will teach teenagers all sort of safety requirements that this age needs on the internet. New era so needs new tools . Highly recommend for all teenagers 3rs grade to high school.

This book really only touches on each topic- no depth; however, it is excellent for simply introducing and defining several life skills with at least one clear example of each. It's a simple set-up for success that leads the reader to want to add to this foundation.

The book covers a wide array of topics, which I couldn’t even begin to cover here, but I did feel that the book was well researched and well written; it flowed naturally from one important and relevant topic to another and I believe it is age appropriate. As an educator, I do feel that many of these topics are not necessarily being covered in the home, which may be due to the very busy lifestyles, that so many people live, so this book could help to fill that vital gap in knowledge and skills acquisition. I liked the addition of exercises and worksheets and the book was very “real” or concrete in what it presented; overall, an engaging book, that should appeal to this age group.
