Anchor (The Lone Pack Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 917 ratings

Both on the run from their pasts, Shane and Reece find themselves at the orchard. Was it chance that brought them there or were they called home?

Reece is too tangled up in the idea of who he’s running
from to realize the truth about who he’s run to. The orchard is the perfect hiding place, and after escaping the military and his alpha team, he needs to keep his head down. But he can’t let go of the anger that’s dogged him for months, building up inside until he’s ready to explode.

Invited to the orchard to meet Hawk’s pack, Shane jumps at the chance to escape the trouble he’s in. They want him to stay, but there’s not enough to keep him there. Until Reece arrives. When the omega avoids him, Shane assumes it’s fear that makes him keep his distance. But he catches the look in Reece’s eyes and sees the truth—it’s rage that’s eating Reece up inside. Shane knows a little something about anger and how to tame it. He can’t watch Reece burn from the inside out, so he extends a helping hand.

Reece tries to hide his struggles, but Shane somehow sees right through his facade. The alpha offers to help and, in desperation, Reece accepts. But past the anger, simmering beneath the surface, he can feel his and Shane’s compatibility. It's easy to tangle their lives together, but it might not be so easy to unravel them when the time comes to go their separate ways.

Anchor is the second book of the Lone Pack series. It contains mpreg, some mature themes, and scenes not suitable for readers under the age of eighteen.

Claire Cullen is an author and aspiring baker. Since she was a toddler, she has loved making up stories. Getting them down on paper proved a challenge in the early years when her preferred medium was finger puppets. She moved on to pen and paper, and later to keyboards, and hasn't looked back since, except for occasional bouts of nostalgia.

Claire loves to write strong, Alpha males with protective streaks a mile wide and counterpoint them with love interests with the inner strength to survive the trials life has thrown at them.

Most of all, Claire loves a happy ever after (but she'll be content with a happy for now).

I love the Lone Pack books. The world filled with Anchors, Protectors, Sentinels and Pack dynamics is uniquely alive and vibrant. The men are hot, the sex is hotter. Alpha Shane is hiding from his past. Helping omega Reece with his anger is so fulfilling, Shane can't help but fall in love. Reece is also on the run. Confession comes hard for him. But Shane makes him feel safe. Their HEA is assured, though getting there is plagued by a kidnapping, a daring escape, an unexpected heat/ pregnancy, and an arrest. Old fears will be faced, pack bonds will be formed, and two packs will combine their forces to combat several evils. You will love this book!
Please read the first book. It sets the stage for this one. Besides, it's a really good book!

Hurt comfort is my favorite trope, so Reece’s story was especially good. Reece is a very strong, if scared Omega. He knows what he faces if he is found. Shane is also laying low from his past as well. His compassion and determination to help Reece heal mentally is unparalleled. I love that Reece recognized Shane as helping and was not scared of him. As always, the writer draws me in and we see another pack forming bonds and growing. Loved it!

The other books in this series (and the previous series) haven’t exactly been instalove, but the relationships have been kind of clinical and practical with little lead up to true affection and emotion.

We finally get an alpha wanting to take things slow and date with clear intentions. One of the better books in these two series.

It’s still an odd world and the author is starting to contradict herself sometimes in terms of the world building.

I loved the story. A almost broken omega filled with anger and a protector that helps him deal with his past. This is a wonderful story of love. Good story line, characters are well developed. And it’s great to keep in touch with characters from the Lost a pack.

Not only do you get a great love story but you get a interesting side story stemming from their past! Shane is such a steady and calm Alpha. Reece needs Shane but that’s not all there is to their story. I can’t wait for more from this pack!

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspense-packed story of a brave omega

A psychologically, very interesting story of an abused omega and a helping alpha with some suspenseful adventures. Maybe too much so as I thought a few times that there are storylines kept short because too much needed to be told.

Woah what a lot to take in Shane unintentionally causing Reece to be kidnapped then Reece getting court-martialled on top of being pregnant with triplets what a way to keep a series going.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read
Reviewed in Australia on November 5, 2020
Another interesting book in this series. I liked getting to know Reece and Shane, both new characters that we didn't meet in the first book. I wasn't so keen on how drawn out Reece's backstory was though - and then how rushed the conclusion was. In contrast, Shane's story was better paced and flowed smoother, even with Reece getting caught up in the fallout. I also feel this series is heavily reliant on the reader having read The Lost Pack series, as the worldbuilding seemed to suffer a little in this one - specifically we get all the pack titles thrown at us but no explanation as to what they are, how critical they are to a pack, and how they balanced a pack. Overall an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more in the series and seeing how the pack expands further. Would be great to see Cass and Damon find their partners at some point too.
